We've used this company a few times, for both emergency and pre-planned work. I vaguely understand that their hourly rates are a little higher than some competitors, but you pay for what you get. In McCormack's case, you get fast, accurate, and excellent work. I would call them first for any plumbing or gas needs in the future.

We have used Steve and his friendly, ultra competent crew for years and have never had any but good experiences. Several years back, Steve replaced our old oil-fired steam boiler with a new gas-fired boiler of 1/2 the size and the installation went without a hitch, despite the very complex steam piping required. Whenever we've had a stoppage and unpleasant flood, McCormack was always there for us. We highly recommend Steve to anyone who asks. 973-744-0411.

I had a nearly impossible time getting a plumber to even call me back- Steve McCormack himself called me within 24 hours of my message and had a personable voice and made me feel comfortable. I made arrangements to meet an employee of his for an estimate a few days later.... the guy showed up exactly at 8:30am (like on the dot punctual!) and got me a written estimate within 24 hours (needed to run new lines up 3 floors of my house and completely re-line 3 bathrooms). Steve sent ""Dave"" to the house to complete all work; Dave was OUTSTANDING- very organized and the work was CLEAN! I have no complaints at all but I will say BE PATIENT! They are super busy and I don't even have to guess why- A+

If you are anything like me, the mere thought of needing to call a Plumber (or Electrician, for that matter) precipitates a veritable flood of anxiety, usually followed by Acid Reflux.
I have had enough negative experiences with new contractors, of all varieties, to fill one of those huge, hideously ugly water tanks that rise ominously over the little towns that line Long Beach Island.
So, imagine my surprise this afternoon when a guy named Dan, from McCormack Plumbing in Upper Montclair, came to my house specifically TO REPLACE my Sump Pump, and left approx. 45 minutes later ... without charging me a nickel. To my chagrin, he wouldn't even accept the $20 bill I attempted to press into his hand.
Wow!!! I was completely flabbergasted. Not only did he demonstrate that my Main Sump Pump was completely operational, he carefully explained how to re-charge the Emergency Battery BackUp system; and how to manually activate all three pumps, if necessary.
In conclusion, Steve McCormack, and Dan the Plumber, you have officially earned my respect ... as well as my future Plumbing and HVAC business. I may even look forward to it!

Beware!! This company and Owner are a Rip Off! I had a backed up toilet and called them to clear it out. The entire job took 5 minutes max and they gave us a bill of $400.00 which i clearly thought was an accident so i questioned it and the Owner was soo rude and nasty to me! i didnt want to argue with him anymore being that im an elderly woman so i just paid it. All i can do is warn people that this company and its owner are horrible and take advantage of elderly women!

I moved from Montclair only recently, having lived there for over fifteen years. During that time, as a homeowner, I had hired various plumbers to do various jobs, but none that I cared to rehire, due to high prices, questionable work or poor attitude.

Then a friend recommended I call McCormack. From then on, until I moved, I couldn't have been more pleased. Callbacks were prompt, the plumbers did what always proved to be excellent work, and I never felt gouged.

I'm truly sorry that I haven't found a plumber of such high caliber in my new location.
