Leland F.I have tried other companies in Anderson over the years, but they have not matched the service and reliability of McConnell. They were prompt when my pump froze and when my 20+ year old furnace developed issues. I thought they would pressue me for a new furnace, but were able to make reasonable repairs to the current unit. I'm sorry a previous poster had issues, but their work has been excellent for us.
These guys are great! I kept trying to fix my air conditioning on my own, and had them out several times; each time they bailed me out and got the thing working again. One time they checked out the system lines under the house and informed me I had a water leak. Oh, so that's why I've been paying almost double water bill for over a year. I had them fix the leak and my savings from just that is enormous. I eventually had to have them replace the entire AC system, and they recommended larger, better line to inside the house, and did it all for reasonable price. This company got a lot of my money, but very good & professional work. Showed up on time and everything. Will use them for all my AC, furnace and plumbing needs.
McConnell Heating and Plumbing was hired by the sellers of my new house to check the condition of the heat exchanger in the gas furnace (Cracked heat exchange = potential carbon monoxide poisoning) The invoice submitted to me says ""I checked the furnace operation and took a reading of the heat exchanger, all were good and within parameters"". I called to verify that they actually checked to make sure the exchanger wasn't cracked and I was assured that what he did verified that there was no problem with the exchanger. Fast forward less than two months. I had my HVAC company (Plumbing and Heating Paramedics) come out for an annual tune up and it was discovered that the heat exchanger is cracked in all chambers. It is amazing to me that Eric McConnell can put his name on something knowing that he did not perform the work properly. My HVAC guy stated that the exchanger had never been visually inspected because he is the one that broke the factor seal. I will be sure to let everyone know that this company is willing to sign off on the condition a heat exchanger, which can be a major safety hazard, with no thought about the fact they are putting families with children at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. Call Plumbing and Heating Paramedics if you value your health and safety......
Heather F.I really wanted to like this business, (very friendly techs!!) but I just can't overlook some issues I've had with them. Last year they installed a new water heater. The tech (I was told it was the manager) not only dropped the unit upside down in my driveway, but then went ahead and installed it, dents and all. I naïvely let it go, since everything was under warranty.
Fast forward to last week (almost a year to the week), I finally called them again for service, after noticing the wet grout and rust/water stains around the bottom of the tank. It had obviously been occurring for quite a while. (FYI our tank is behind a barrier, I rarely look at it.) Techs came, said unit needs replaced because it is a cheap brand, and it's under warranty, but I will have to pay the labor charges which would amount to $425. Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, No. Luckily my father was there, and he decided to take a look at it. As it turns out, since I have a rather small tank, the pressure release pipe gets used a lot, and was not properly crimped. so it was just spraying hot water all over the place. How did a qualified experienced technician miss that more than once? I really like the guys that came out, they were very polite and very friendly. And they didn't put too much pressure on me. But missing something simple like that, and having a labor charge of over $400 is a little ridiculous. Also when I called to ask if someone could come out and just crimp that line for me, I was told it would be $135. My husband went out and bought a crimper at Lowes for $25. boom, done. Well now I need work done on my air conditioning unit, and I'm afraid I just don't trust them enough. I wish I could say better of them.
The positives are that the service techs were nice and prompt, and that they helped me grow up and learn to ask a lot of questions and not to take shoddy work as acceptable.
