We have been using McDermott Plumbing and Pumping for years, and they are absolutely the best!!! They fix our toilets and sinks and pump our septic system. I sure hope they never retire!!!!!

Awful!! The women on the phone are SO RUDE and can't seem to run a business. They ""scheduled"" a plumber and 12 hrs later were still unable to confirm whether he was coming or not. They will brush you off and tell you they will call you back, and then never do. But honestly, the worst part is how they speak to their clientele. Should have read the reviews before attempting with this terrible business.

I've been using McDermott Plumbing over the last year to deal with a number of problems. They have been consistantly profesional, quick, and delightful to work with. But more importantly, they've done great work. Their office staff is equally helpful.

Rory and his team are FANTASTIC!! They showed up early in the morning just after I called about a nasty clog in our shower (thanks to teenage hair!). I highly recommend this excellent team.

Living in Malibu and looking for an honest, reliable plumber. I'm a Do-It-Yourselfer type but after changing out some corroded pipes, rusted metal and rocks clogged the older pipes.
Called McDermott to see if they'd come take a look. Told Sean the problem, Peggy called back 15 minutes later and said someone was on the way. Jim McDermott and Rory showed up ready to go. I told them what I had done, explained the quirks of the system and they went right to it. Problem solved. Jim is a hoot and Rory is a great sidekick. When they unholster their wrenches...watch out. Great experience. Won't hesitate to call on them again!!!

Worst plumbing company I ever used.
Totally unresponsive Terrible communication

It took three calls (no return calls) to get them to come out. When they finally did, the plumber went under my house, then left without even telling me he was leaving.

A call to the company verified he'd be back the next day with a part.

Five calls and a month later he came back unannounced, then left without telling me again. Didn't fix the repair though because he claimed I already fixed it???

The dispatcher admitted it's a common complaint and "" it's two 65 year old guys who never communicate with them either""


I would never recommend them to anybody.

Great service! Very helpful and friendly. They fixed the main problem super quickly and even helped me install a new shower head. I would recommend them to anyone!

Whatever you do, don't call McDermott plumbing or pumping. We scheduled an appointment a week in advance for septic pumping and 2 other minor plumbing problems. It ended up I needed to be away in the afternoon of the day they were coming out. I called at 8 in the morning to confirm what time they would be able to come out. They had no idea and complained that they are given a list of 30 jobs to go to and can't give me a time. So, I said lets just reschedule the plumbing fixes until Monday and asked if that would be better for them. He said probably, and I then asked if they could schedule me as one of the first appointments in the morning, again was told about the list of 30 jobs to do so couldn't tell me a time. The next thing I heard on Monday morning was that they would be out before 9, I called them and said that was fine but I wouldn't be home until 8:45 if they were planning on coming out earlier than that.
Here I am and it is 10:30. So I called again and asked where they were, they were very confused and said I told them not to come before 8:45!?! I said yes, but I still wanted you to come at 9, I was being courteous and telling you I wouldn't be home before 8:45.
The guy got very condescending and somewhat antagonistic and said I will call him and see if he can get back to you!!! So it is now 1/2 an hour later and, surprise, still hasn't called me back.
By the way the septic guy did show up on Friday, but he was supposed to call before he came so I could have someone let him in the backyard. Surprise, he never called either. I guess they are sooooo busy they don't need my business. Good luck!!!
