I reached out to this company regarding a clogged yard drain and she said she couldn't help me. In the advertisement they say they do drain clearingThe woman asked my ZIP Code and then told me that they don't work in that ZIP Code. We are clearly in the middle of the area that they service. The woman was rather rude. If you don't work in the ZIP Code then you need to change your advertisement for your company. The blue dot is my location and the red square is the companies business location.
Ralph D.I called in to ask about having both a kitchen sink faucet and a utility sink replaced. I spoke to Susan. She said they were busy and were scheduling into the next month ( this was mid April). She asked to have photographs taken and sent via email. I sent them that day. I heard nothing and called back in just less than a week. They had not checked the images I sent and again I was just told that they were scheduling into the following month.
I could get no more definitive answer.
We went with Benjamin Franklin plumbing who were very responsive and moderately priced.
Tom R.It's not often you find a company like MAY'S PLUMBING!!! I have had them work on my home several times , each time they were punctual polite and left the house cleaner than when they started. The last time I needed them was to replace all my drain lines in my basement floor . This was a big job . They showed up with 4 trucks and 5 guys . They even worked thru lunch to finish in one day . Also by having 4 trucks they had every thing they needed to complete the job . Not like other companies that have to run out several times for parts. My only regret is I can't give them 10 stars !!! Thank you everyone at May's Plumbing.
I'm not satisfied with this company. I purchased a condo in the Wilmington area and requested, via email, a rough estimate to have five shutoff valves replaced in the kitchen and bathroom with 1/4-turn compression valves and install a customer supplied rough-in tub/shower valve.
I sent pictures of the work areas and requested the work be scheduled three weeks out. The condo is in a building that require the building water be shut off so planning was important. I was told the email was not received until the third try (spam folder).
Needless to say, this company do not communicate via email effectively. I never received the estimate, the company did not contact the building manager until the day before the scheduled start date, the plumber did not install 1/4-turn shutoff valves or flanges in the kitchen, and sweat the valves instead of installing the compression valves requested.
The work was professional, however, communication about the job itself was lacking. No preview, estimate, understanding - mostly the plumber stated Susan the manager/owner had the answers. Since I was in town a short period of time and the building water was shut off, I didn't press my opinion.
If the job was done as requested, I wouldn't have a problem with the cost of service.
Mays are awesome! I was getting a new sink and faucet along with new countertops. Two days before, I thought I would check the valves to make sure I could turn the water off to unhook all of the components before the countertop people came. Unfortunately, they were locked in solid. Being concerned about turning the house water off and snapping the valves, I called Mays who came highly recommended. They really worked with me to get someone out the next day to replace the valves and unhook my sink for me. The plumber who came out took care of everything and told me what I would need to get for the install a few days later. Thank you so much Mays! Glad to find a plumber for the future.
The team did a great drop clearing my drain and replacing my very old water heater. Very professional. On time, clean. Reasonably priced. Appreciate their help. Will use again if needed.
Pamela S.Mays Plumbing Works is spectacular. Jamie, the plumber, fixed two things today- a leaky shower head and changed the filter on my whole house water filter. He also did a check on my toilet, and he stated that it did not need to be fixed.
Before I called this plumbing company I called Servicemark my old plumbing company. Servicemark was bought out by Horizon. I had Horizon people give me a estimate. They would have charged $680 more than Mays Plumbing. No wonder my old, honest plumber is not with Servicemark/Horizon anymore
Looks like I found a new plumber with Mays Plumbing. Jamie was really nice, too.
Find another plumber who is trustworthy and appreciates your business. Surly, expensive and dishonest. I hired Mays in November of 2017. I provided pictures of the issues, valve stems had to be replaced in my sink levers and hand spray.
The man they sent was clearly irritated to have to do the work, which I chose to ignore. He confirmed the valve stem had to be replaced for all items. He advised that he did not have Kohler parts and they were very expensive, but he carries around a generic kit and would try to use those parts. He said these parts would save me they were inexpensive and if they fit, it would save me money. He said that he would have to order a part for the hand spray.
He came back with the generic kit and replaced the valve stems. The repairs were made and I was satisfied. He pulled a fast one on me. He gave me a bill of over $300. When I questioned the bill, he said that it was high because Kohler parts were expensive. I reminded him that he used generic parts. He advised that I was mistaken and he used Kohler parts.
He then explained that I was getting a ""good deal"" because he could have charged me for diagnosing the hand spray valve but since I was a new customer, he wasn't including that cost?? They never followed-up on the hand spray valve stem. I haven't heard from them since, and that is all for the good. Do business with them at your own peril.
Ahmed C.They are GREAT! Susan and Darren where a pleasure to work with. Their crew is professional and courteous. They installed our new gas lines for our kitchen remodel. Susan handled the communications with DelMarva Power (which is a very difficult task) and got things done efficiently as possible. Delmarva is impossible to deal with but thanks to Susan's efforts it all got done smoothly. There pricing was better then other estimates but I mention this last because it's the least of reasons to hire May's Plumbing. Hire them for great service. They are worth more then they charge.
Jen D.Called them for a major clog at 3pm on a Friday. They had someone out by 4:30 and price was far better than expected. Would definitely call them again.
