Our hot water heater stopped working and American Home Shield contracted our job out to Mays. The first guy to come out glanced at the heater and said it needed a new valve. It took them 9 days to order and receive the part. They sent 2 plumbers out to replace the part when they finally received it, but they didn't get to us until 6:45pm on a Friday. They couldn't fix the heater, and no one returned our calls. After 12 days of no hot water and halfhearted service, we called in another company. They had the heater working later that day. Mays had completely misdiagnosed the issue, and none of the plumbers they sent our way had a clue. If we hadn't gone to someone else, we'd still be taking cold showers.

Claire T.Been trying to deal with this joke of a plumbing company for 9 months for a hot water issue. Between these guys and American Home Shield warranty company, they could not fix the issue, they have lied to me, the renter, and the homeowner about who said what. They've had a part on order for 5 months, and can't seem to get it in. See, they've lied about that, too. They've been out wasting my time 7 times. Issue still not fixed. Finally agree we need a new tankless hot water unit. We have NO HOT WATER, but after all this they still can't come until four days out. It's the lies I can't deal with. DO NOT USE THEM!!! HORRIBLE!!!!
My third time using this company and their workers are professional, honest, and, quick. I had a leaky toilet and was unable to use my upstairs bath due to injury. They came the next day to assess, showed my husband the problem, got the new toilet tank, and repaired in less than 2 hours. He was really considerate of the fact that I couldn't use another restroom in the house. Will continue to be my go to pluming company.
Danielle F.We are in a unique situation in which we have been disputing with Statefarm to get our home fixed for the past 19 months. My husband used May's to winterize the house (we have been staying in an apartment the whole time) to make sure the pipes wouldn't freeze, etc. he said they were great. My husband has been working crazy hours and we are finally on track to fix our home. We had to finally get the water and all turned back on and it's been nearly a year since they were last out. John called me 45 minutes before he was going to be there to give me time to get the kids packed up and meet him at the house. He brought his son and they were friendly and remembered most everything about the home. There was a problem with one of our valves being rusted over and they replaced that at no extra charge. They were super friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate to our uniquely stressful situation. If we have any more plumbing needs we will definitely be using May's.
Also a side note, I believe it is just John and his son that do most of the work. They were a little outside of their quoted window (only like half an hour) which worked perfectly for us since it was during my son's nap time. It's a small local business so be a little patient, their honesty and work was well worth it to us! I also saw they spent a lot more time making sure everything was perfect and I imagine they do the same with all of their clients.
I needed to replace a deep sink in my laundry room. I contacted two plumbers. The first gave an estimate that was twice as much as Mays plumbing. So picking a plumber was easy. John showed up very early Monday morning. In about two hours he had the new sink in. It looks and works great. I'm so glad I picked Mays plumbing.
Very friendly and professional! They helped use with installing the new bathroom and the old plumbing in the basement. I highly recommend there company!
Last spring, after almost 20 years of usage of our delta faucets, I had a case of leakage both in the bathtub and in the sink. Our condo manager referred me to John at May's Pluming. I ordered new sets of Delta faucet cartridges from Delta, which they sent me free of charge. Then I set an appointment with John tocome in; he was charming, very pleasant and likable person, he did the job very quickly and left a very positive impression on me, to the extend that I asked him for several of his business cards to pass around to my friends!
With in almost a month however, the warm water faucet of the sink started to leak again, and after few days the water started to flow so hard that we had to turn off the hot water pipe. I called Delta and mentioned the problem, asking if their product was defective. They said ""No! But you should ask your plumber if he did it right."" They send me another new FREE cartridge; john came in and changed the faucet. He blamed the quality of Delta's faucets and parts. But he did not charge me.
Except, within almost another month the same hot water faucet stared to leak again. Annoyed, I called delta and complained about their parts, they kept telling me that they have had no such cases with their other customers using these parts, adding that the problem is not the faucet, because I have had no problem with the bathtub or the cold-water faucets or cartridges. In any case Delta generously sent me another FREE cartridge again and John came in changed the washer in only few minutes and charged me another $165.00 and left.
I recounted this event to my neighbors, friends and family, and all were shocked, telling me look at the person who benefited most from this situation, so all pointed the finger at John and May's Pluming!
This is an outstanding company that is responsive, reliable and very fair. I have used them three times (including the last time where they came out on a service call and recommended another outstanding company for well service...and didn't charge me a dime). I have been ripped off by the Washington DC area ""big names""...this is a company you can trust to expertly fix your plumbing issue and do it very fairly priced...I will never call anyone but May's...Hughesville Customer
My husband and I had to file a warranty claim for some leaking sinks and Mays Plumbing happened to be business assigned to our area. I called to schedule an appointment for them to come and take care of the issues we had and they scheduled us fairly quickly. The technician showed up on time and with a great attitude. He was very thorough and made sure I knew what he was doing and had me confirm he did it correctly and to my satisfaction. He even snaked our bathroom sink as a courtesy. We will definitely be recommending this company.
