Horrible communication skills!

It is my understanding they came to repair a countertop. When they removed the counter top they broke something. This caused them to have to shut the water off in the WHOLE apartment complex. I understand the emergency. But after doing so they DID NOT notify anyone the water was shut off! I understand they're trying to control the water leak which THEY CAUSED by shutting the water off but they did so to the WHOLE COMPLEX not just the side they were working on. I called the owner about this. He told me although the water is shut off it is still leaking into the apartments on the first floor ruining the floors. Hmmm I'm on the first floor at the end of the line, water is not flooding my apartment. During the course of our conversation the owner informed me, ""he didn't have time to explain plumbing to me""!

Emergencies happen. Everyone knows this. The way they communicated (or lack of) is what is not acceptable! Not to mention my inability to shower!

I'm a Building Manager in Burbank and if you want one of THE GODS of plumbing PLEASE CALL DAVE. I've been through seven... THAT'S RIGHT 7!!! plumbers who ""talked a good game"" about how good they were.. I'd give them a shot and several weeks later tenants are blowing up my phone about water heater issues, etc. I called MayDay Dave and he came over and totally repaired our building's water heating issues. I'm happy, tenants are happy... This guy is THE MAN!!! I manage 3 buildings... and yes.. he went to the top of our speed dial.... done.

Bad news always seems to come in threes... Out of the blue, our clean out valve stopped up, our garbage disposal broke, and our water heater needed to be looked at asap. We called Mayday Plumbing and they sent Rizo over to our house. He cleared out the roots from the clean out, changed the disposal, and checked out the water heater. Needless to say, we are big fans! Rizo was prompt, professional, and efficient. Five stars!

Be VERY careful. If your going to pay this guy to clear a toilet or drain go ahead, but I would not hire him for any substantial or durable plumbing work.

The owner David Bouzaglou initially came out to clear a root clogged sewer line. He strongly recommended that to fix the root problem for good we should pay him to have the length of line to the street snaked with a camera and replaced. The length of this line was around 8 feet. So we agreed to pay him almost $4000 to do this.

When he showed up he started digging and I asked about running the camera, he assured me that as he was replacing the line there would be no need for it. I then questioned why he seemed to be cutting out only a one foot section and fitting a clean out, which we already had, and not replacing the entire line as initially agreed, he rudely responded that I was not a plumber and that the problem would be fixed. When finished he filled our trash can with huge concrete blocks and left us with a mess of more concrete, dirt, and other scrap to clear up. When I asked him about the trash his response was ""Its not my job"" I neither wanted to call him, nor his aptly named Mayday plumbing ever again.

Since then the sewer continued to clog as before. Following professional advice, we finally contacted Mr Bouzaglou again to address his work. While he recalled doing the job, he told us that he had no responsibility to us, as the work had been done 6 years prior. IMO a durable plumbing fix should work and last longer than 6 years.

When I explained to him that we had suffered constant repeated clogs he got in my face, while smiling, and told me that I should get a lawyer to sue him if I had a problem. I said that his job was only agreed to based on his advice, to which he replied that it would not have fixed our problem in the first place, and then accused me of trying to embezzle money out of him. I then asked why we might have agreed to such an expense if not to fix the problem, he replied that we had only asked him to fit a clean out; not true - we already had one. Finally asking about standing behind his work, he was quick to tell me to go ahead and read him back the fine print on the invoice. I looked and told him there was no fine print on the invoice at which he smiled arrogantly again and said ""Exactly! ...well then, do what you have to do!""

So I am taking his advice and I am doing what I have to do by writing this review, in the hope that my experience will prevent others being tricked and ripped off by this unpleasant man.

Legally the Trade and Work descriptions Act states that a product or service ""MUST MEET THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT WAS INTENDED"" In this case the purpose was to prevent further root clogs from occurring, but the installation of a clean out, even by his own recent admission would not have accomplished this. This clean out was redundant as we already had one, not to mention ridiculously overpriced.

Honestly, we were looking for some assistance or cooperation to solve our problem, not to be barked at by a confrontational and adversarial man who refuses to be accountable for his work. He would not even offer to help us with our immediate emergency by snaking the clean out unless we paid him his full and regular charge.
In essence we paid him a lot of money to install a second clean out that we didn't need. He did not fix the problem and according to several recent quotes we have obtained, for that amount he could have replaced the line as agreed AND run a sewer liner into the street.

David Bouzaglou I found to be aggressive, abrasive and disrespectful and Mayday Plumbing do not stand behind their work as is evident by the invocation to ""read the fine print"" of which there is none. He ripped us off by all accounts - several reputable plumbing companies have told us that fitting this clean out might cost $800 but not $4000. He created a bogus, overcharged job to his benefit that he knew would not fix our problem and then washed his hands of it

Despite the reviews here, a quick mention of Mayday Plumbing to other plumbing companies, and they all respond with David Bouzaglou by name. Evidently, albeit hearsay, his reputation is somewhat notorious around town. Make sure that who you hire has some form of warranty, even if it means accepting some fine print on their paperwork.

I have little tolerance for those who have no integrity, are quick to give false advice, take your money and, with arrogance, refuse to stand behind when their work proves to be defective. In any case I am going to be hiring and paying another plumbing company to fix the problem - contrary to Mr Bouzaglou's accusation it is not only about my money. If he was kinder, genuine, gracious, accountable or cooperative and offered a modicum of basic empathy in helping us solve our problem, perhaps he could have participated in some of the money that we are going to be spending, to fix what he was paid to do six years and 7 plumber rooter visits earlier.

Mayday is great! David (owner) is meticulous and doesn't cut corners. You'll never get a shoddy job. Had my tiny house re-piped, bathroom installed, tankless water heater, main sewer line cleaned... you name it. You'll never have to have his work ""redone."" Thanks, David!

I would give these guys 10 stars if I could! David is amazing. Amazing. Amazing. The price is right and he even helped me out on other problems I was having. Calm. Wonderful. Polite. He saved my life.

BTW...I am not related to him, employed by him, know him in any other way except for through his professional services. Sometimes people think these reviews are 'fed'...not true with this one. It is legit. Just that enthusiastic. Jackie H.

These guys know their sh*t! For basic rooter jobs they have a sub-company called Mini Rooter. The dude literally showed up in a Mini Cooper. I called for an emergency rooter for over a hundred feet of pipe. Bigger companies that have ""smell good plumbers"" can only go up to 75 ft. The service provided and ending results were superb. Grandpa was even impressed by them and he is not easily impressed. Prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend them for any plumbing needs. So if you need someone to lay pipe or unclog your drain, give them a call.

Mayday was awesome. The plumber came out last minute on a Sunday and helped one of our unit owners in a condo complex snake out their line and also identified a break in the main which he had the equipment and the know-how to take care of right there and then. As a property manager and realtor I recommend Mayday for fast and professional service.
