I got more than I bargained for when I hired Max Reed Plumbing to come root my pipes. Besides the quick response, Max himself showed up, sent the rooter down the hole and cleared the blockage pronto! As he turned to leave, he paused and turned around and said, ""Could I give you some advice?"" I said, hesistating, ""sure."" Max continued, ""You might want to consider eating more roughage, like salads and beans and stuff--could save you a lot in the long run on these, calls to say nothing of saving yourself a heart attack!"" I credit the man with more than clearing my pipes. I think he may have saved my life.

Our line was getting a little choked up with tree roots and the guy I usually called had retired so I called Max Reed Plumbing and was able to make an appointment for the next day. Max arrived at the expected time and was pretty quickly able to clear our lines. He also gave me some information on things I should think about for longer term solutions and to preserve the pipes I have rather than have to worry about replacing things that go into the slab under our house. Max is polite and professional, brings the right tools and does good work. Also I like giving my business to local business owners and not calling someone up all the way from Ventura or Oxnard. It's good to have someone in town that can take care of these things.

We are so lucky to have Max in our town. He listened to my issue, and agreed to come out right away on a Saturday morning to unclog my toilet. I had no idea that flushing flowers could cause such a problem, but max was very nice about my mistake. Now we know we're neighbors, and I have a new favorite plumber to recommend. And he even stuck to his original quote after the weird layout of our system caused him to have to put in a bunch of extra work. It was so nice to work with an honest man running a quality business. Max fixed my water leak quickly and honestly. Came to my house on Saturday within 10 minutes after I called. Offered to show me how to fix the leak myself at no charge - or he could fix it. Max is the BEST and his guys are too. I had been talking with him for months, years about the impending doom awaiting us when our 50+ year old cast-iron drain line might finally give out (under the slab, running from laundry/kitchen to bathrooms and out to sewer) and what a dreadful job that was for those who have to face it (like everyone in our neighborhood, sooner or later). I knew I needed to hire him, but kept putting it off....until one day we had 3 inches of black sewage standing in the bathtub. That's when I called Max and pulled the trigger to get this monster job done. While it was necessary for a total demo of our main/hall bathroom (where the tub was), Max and his guys went to extraordinary lengths to avoid having to completely demo our other (master) bath also. This meant they had to excavate (by hand) a hole in the main bathroom floor nearly 5 feet deep, and they also dug out under the adjacent bathroom to have access to all the connections between the old drain line, the bathrooms and the new sewer line (that we had replaced a few years ago). They also used the ""trenchless"" method, and in so doing avoided having to demolish all of our patio as well. As Diane (who is my neighbor) mentioned in another post, Max's right-hand, Pancho, did all this interior dirty work, and he was neat as could be. He dug that hole by hand and carried it out of our house one wheel barrow at a time, through the living and dining rooms, on runner rugs that he laid out and picked up every day. For as horribly dirty as this project was, the interior chaos, as well as that outside, was kept to a minimum, thanks to Pancho. AND he was always cheerful and smiling and just a wonderful person to have around. This project lasted a long time, for a lot of reasons, and I just really enjoyed having Max and his guys around. They felt like family, were super easy going, and always willing to stretch to solve a problem, or to respond to anything new that came up. Max brought his own equipment to help set us up with an outdoor shower while we had none indoors. He also set us up with a novel grey water system that we can switch off and on depending on where we want to direct our water. Max is a great guy and I'd hire him again in a heart beat...
