Recommended Customer Reviews

Just finished up the installation of a new 2 stage AC & Furnace today. Richard gave us the initial quote and information on what our options were. He was very thorough and knowledgeable about products and the different levels of the units that were available. He called to follow up to see if we had any other questions. We received a thank you card in the mail for allowing him to come and give us a quote. Hands down the best customer service! We went with the platinum option and couldn't be happier! Bright and early Thursday morning Richard and the crew showed up ready to work. Everything was explained and a quick overview of what to expect for the day was discussed. Steve and Anthony got to work quickly and efficiently. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Hardworking and Trustworthy! Debris was cleaned up and they were very respectful to that fact that I had a young child in the house. Today Steve, Anthony & Ryan showed up and got right to work. By 2p...earlier than scheduled I had a brand new functioning AC & Heater. So incredibly happy with the product and the people who represent Mauzy. Hands down one of the best companies around!

Had a broken and outdated heating system and contracted Mauzy to install a new furnace and ducting setup in my house. Was initially recommended Mauzy from a co-worker and out of 3 bids Mauzy came out the best with another bid from a competitor for the same exact Lennox furnace asking for almost double. Josh and Luis did a great job on the install and I'm very happy with the results. I would recommend them to others needing hvac work in a heartbeat.

Mauzy just installed a new hvac system and solar at our home, They are on time very respectful and did an outstanding install. They left our place as clean as they found it. Very pleased would recommend them hands down.

We had a new A/C and furnace installed by Josh and Shawn. They were a terrific team, worked well together and finished the job in less time than expected. We were very impressed with the company, the installation team, and the follow-up.
Whatever Mauzy is doing to train their sales & tech teams, they're doing a great job!

Something has happened over the last 10 years with this company. They installed my heating
and AC in 2004. It was an excellent install at an extremely good price. Fast forward another
ten years when I had to call them for a service. OK, ten years on they wanted $90 for a house call before any repairs were completed. I paid the $90 and was told that I am now
outside of their service area. I'm in a rural area, about a 25 minute drive from their business
in El Cajon. Not terribly far, but paid it anyway. Fast forward another couple of years to December 2015. My heating went out during a cold spell and I called Mauzy. I was told
the charge just for the drive was going to be $314 (how the heck did they come up with that number?) before any fees for labor. Again, I paid the
fee for them to come have a look and evaluate. The service tech diagnosed the issue as
being with the heat exchanger, which in fact turned out to be the correct problem. He mentioned that the part was still under warranty with the factory (Goodman). I waited for over a week's time for a call back from Mauzy and was told the repair would cost me $2000 for a new exchanger, and about $3000 for the labor. No mention was made of any warranty replacement from Goodman. While all this was going on I found another company in Spring
Valley who came out (again, a 30 minute drive) at NO charge, and was given the same diagnosis of the problem. They made the repair for less than $1000. By the way, the heat exchanger replacement cost was around $200. It turned out that it just needed a flush out.
I would avoid Mauzy at all costs. Their follow-up after installation is horrible and expensive.
In my opinion, there are ethical issues with them. They absolutely don't stand by those who
are original customers, and why not tell me directly about the warranty from Goodman? Be careful, and shop around. I once would recommend this company, and did. Not any longer.

I replaced my furnace and added A/C which required all new ductwork in the house in 2010. At the time, I did not get any other quotes and in retrospect, I wish I had. The ductwork was done in two phases since I was re-purposing an attic space and that ductwork had to be done at a later date. After they finished, my contractor noted that they had left part of the old ductwork in the house and connected it, likely since it was sort of a difficult place to get to (they had to crawl back along a low lying ceiling in my house but it was totally doable). My perception was the guy just didn't want to put the effort in to go back all the way. The quote was for the entire ductwork to be replaced and they did not do this. I called the owner and he sent someone immediately to complete the job they had outlined. If my contractor had not ""caught"" their short cut, the job would have been done half-heartedly. I appreciated the owner's response but it was only because we caught them.
More recently, I wanted to upgrade my thermostat to a wireless model so that I can adjust my temperature through my phone. There are plenty of new products on the market for this for under $200. And a simple thermostat change takes 15 minutes for any DIYer. Unfortunately, the thermostat that Mauzy had put on my unit was a communicating thermostat and in order to not have to rewire the furnace (something I'm not sure a DIYer could do without doing damage or investing a lot of time learning which wires would go where), I was forced to purchase a newer model of the same brand of thermostat. I got one for $560 online. It took me 15 minutes to install and 10 minutes to program. I went back and forth with Matt (the owner) about his original quote for this job ($1674). He said his quote needed to have profit and labor. Sure, I said, but $1100 of profit and labor for a 20 minute job? After prompting, he said he would reduce his price 12% and do it for ""cost"" implying that he'd not be making money off his his new quote of around $1475. He still has $900 in his quote for profit and labor which to me is outrageous for such a simple job. I'm glad I was able to do it myself for 25 minute of my time and save $900.

The crew was amazing!!! They did a great job and I was very impressed with the attention to detail. I have nothing but great things to say about Mauzy all together. Overall great experience and I would recommend them to anyone.

I live at the coast and after last summer I was certain I really needed air conditioning. I found Mauzy through the Lowes Program. I still am not really certain what benefit Lowes brings except possibly financing. Richard, the sales person, came out and was my second of three bids. They were professional but I knew that there was some kind of incremental cost I would be paying by going through Lowes. I waited some time and received a third estimate from a company that my parents referred to me.
After meeting with the third company, I called Mauzy back to see how we could work together that would be beneficial for both of us. After some back and forth, I agreed to take an open slot on their install schedule and in return I received a good price on an install of an aircon and new furnace. Because time had passed, I was no longer part of the Lowes program. I wasn't going to get a new furnace but Mauzy added a new furnace for a pretty low incremental cost and allowed me to get an entire new system in a 15 year old house.
The team lead by Josh arrived on time. The entire process took from 9-4:40. They left the place clean and they were very professional. They provided many tips on how to make my new system most effective.
So what I learned...buy and aircon in the winter...I believe it saved at least $1000. Get multiple bids. I got my entire system for a $2500 savings vs another bid. Might be just as beneficial to change your entire system vs just changing furnace or air. Be flexible and try to make your deal good for you and the company.
I am pleased with Mauzy. Thank you for ensuring I wont be hot every again!

Originally gave 2 stars. Matt Mauzy reached out to me to address my concerns. I really appreciate him taking time to discuss my issues and go into details of the discussions he had with his team to determine root cause for the lapses and corrective actions.

I would prefer to give 2.5 stars. I have used these guys for a couple of years to do annual PMs on my York Affinity 8 series furnace. They are courteous on the phones and the technicians are equally nice. But nice isn't sufficient. Recently had a PM ""performed"" by a technician. Two weeks later we tried running the heat and the system wouldn't turn on. It took Mauzy 2 weeks to come out to run a diagnostic, then a return trip to determine 3 parts had failed. That should have been picked up during the PM (we later learned that the technician that had performed the PM was let go). It took another 3 weeks to get service scheduled (all this time without heat). I expected Mauzy to make more of an effort to right a wrong. The technician mentioned that I should contact York since the labor to replace the parts wasn't warrantied. Unfortunately, the technician's notes on the invoice did not provide specifics on what was faulty and after numerous failed attempts to reach the technician (multiple messages), I've given up on Mauzy. Too bad, because they were nice.

Best way to put it is that these guys do not communicate information well with each other. Its been a week and a half and I haven't heard back from them regarding work they still need to finish on my house that should have been done the last time they were here. I'm spending a lot of money on getting solar and I'm not at all impressed with this company. The people seem nice but I shouldn't have to keep telling them what they should already know.
--- update 12/20/15 ---
the owner called me, apologized, and reassured me that everything would be completed asap. The solar system has been working fine and they will check back with me after I get my first SDG&E statement and then several times throughout the upcoming year.
Also, I was told that Mauzy is just about to roll out a new online program that will have all updates and info regarding the progress of your project. Basically something I wish they already had with me starting in October, but great for future customers. I think that at this point Mauzy really will be on top of things for all projects.
