My experience with Mat-Su Mechanical's HVAC system maintenance was generally positive.
I was pleased with the quality of the technicians' work.
However, I was not pleased that I was not informed about the replacement of my backflow valve and fill valve.
The parts alone cost me more than $400.
I noticed that they are not as timely as they were when I was in the industry with them.
The recent pricing changes appear to be quite high.
I wonder how families with limited budgets can afford a scheduled service call, much less an emergency service at night.
I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts on this experience.
All in all, my interaction with Mat-Su Mechanical had both positive and negative aspects.

I was a customer of Mat-Su Mechanical for about 8 years, but my last experience was disappointing. A few weeks in advance, I contacted them to arrange a general maintenance service for my furnace. Unfortunately, just days before the scheduled appointment, I received a call notifying me of a mistake in their scheduling.
They requested that I reschedule, and I complied by choosing a date that was one day sooner. I adjusted my whole work and family schedule to accommodate the time they proposed. The appointment was set for between 3 PM and 5 PM.
I made the hour-long drive to meet them. I arrived at the property at 2:45 PM. When it was approximately 3:45 PM and no technician had arrived, I decided to call their office.
The office informed me that the technician was running late at another job and would be there between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM. I acknowledged the situation and said that was fine. However, shortly after, the same lady from the office called back to inform me that any time after 5 PM would incur an overtime charge.
They explained that this was part of their company policy. I then talked to the office manager, who understood the whole scenario. She even admitted that the delay was not my fault. Despite this, she said I would still be charged the overtime rate due to their policy.
I refused to pay for overtime when I had fulfilled my part of the agreement and they had not. I requested that they not send anyone over.
Regardless, they charged my credit card $200 for the first hour of service. It felt as if they were holding me ransom, stating I had to either pay for the overtime or cancel the appointment and still face a charge.
This charge was unauthorized on my account!
I strongly advise against using Mat-Su Mechanical! There are numerous other reputable companies out there. For example, I recommend looking into Kleb's!

I had an excellent experience with this plumbing company. Their team provided top-notch customer service.
After another company shut down our heat in the winter in Alaska, we called them for an emergency. They arrived promptly and resolved the situation effectively and skilled manner.
Due to their quick response, the team secured our house. I advocate for this company for all heating system needs!

I called Mat-Su Mechanical to service my heating and cooling system in the fall of 2017. They informed that there would be a initial callout fee of $200.00, plus a minimum fee of $140.00, bringing a combined minimum charge of $340.00. Any components needed would be extra. At that moment, I thought the quote was rather steep, but I chose to let them perform the service anyway since they initially set up the system in my home when it was built in the year 2003.
The service person who conducted the work told me that I would need an inducer motor in the not-too-distant future, but that it wasn't urgent. He also clearly indicated that there would not be an additional first-time callout fee since it would be considered a subsequent service. Fast forward to spring of 2019. I contacted Mat-Su Mechanical again to replace the inducer motor, explaining that it was their employee who originally diagnosed the issue. I provided them the initial work order number and the identity of the technician who performed the service, and stated that he had specifically indicated there would not be an additional initial callout fee.
They firmly declined to honor it, demanding that I pay another initial service charge. The reason they provided was that the particular employee was no longer with them, so they couldn't ask him about it. The technician had written on the initial work order under 'Recommended Repairs' that "The inducer motor has rough start-up." I proposed to present them the initial work order, which they refused. I will not provide them another penny of my money. Instead, I contacted a different company, and now I realize that it was a mistake to choose Mat-Su Mechanical in the beginning.

I have experienced that Mat-Su Mechanical the heating system was installed by our heating system when we switched to gas. We had them handle the upkeep as well, yet we encountered issues with the pump replacements stemming from a problem with the installation.
The last time they visited to resolve this matter, they requested $200 upfront. They do not disclose the total cost when they provide service. We did not receive the statement until we got a rude email which informed us we owed $116.00 more and that it was past due. I will never do business with them again! Too many problems and poor billing practices led to this decision. Previously, they were a good company, and their staff have always been excellent during their visits.

Mat-Su Mechanical is the best in the valley! From the initial contact to the final billing, their professionalism shines. including the front office personnel and extending to the installation team and even during the billing stage.
During an unexpected cold snap, our furnace failed. Despite the hectic and tough conditions, Mat-Su Mechanical provided us with excellent service, the new furnace was installed in a timely manner.

As a customer of Mat-Su Mechanical, I experienced timely and dependable service in the past at other properties. This is why I initially rated them two stars.
When I needed plumbing and heating installation in another house, I reached out to schedule an appointment. The representative I spoke with informed me that they were booked for a couple of months. I agreed to the wait and inquired about when they could come out to give an estimate. She said she would look into it and call me back.
However, I never received a follow-up call. After a week, I emailed them, outlining the required work. Their response indicated that they were declining the job because they had bigger projects out of state. Additionally, they mentioned that since the gas lines were already installed, they preferred not to continue work started by someone else.
I felt let down by their lack of commitment to returning customers. The runaround I received during scheduling was frustrating. Sadly, Mat-Su Mechanical has now joined the list of service providers in Alaska that seem uninterested in residential service.

My experience with this plumbing company turned out to be frustrating. I engaged them for maintenance and upgrades on the boiler, and the bill was over $600.
While the service person was performing the job, he unintentionally broke a small glass window on the front of the boiler. He assured to fix it to make the repair.
When he finished, we realized that the boiler was producing clanking noises that it had never made before his visit.
A couple of weeks later, he showed up again to correct the problems he had caused. Here's the kicker is that Mat-Su Mechanical is trying to charge us $276 for the follow-up meant to fix their errors.
Caution is advised! This company is not a reliable or respectable service provider.

This review is long overdue. I have hired Mat-Su Mechanical for three significant projects and multiple service repairs. I genuinely cannot express how impressed I am with them.
I hired them to replace my boiler system in 2010 and to install in-floor heating and all my domestic plumbing in my new house in 2018. They also installed the gas line for my generator.
As someone who works on the slope, I can vouch for the quality of their plumbing and HVAC designs. They design their systems so that any failing component can be replaced without hassle. You can avoid unnecessary draining or purging of the system.
Their designs might be more expensive—I really can't say. What I can say is that the isolation valves are exactly where they should be. If a problem occurs (such as the one I faced after the earthquake), the system can be fixed and brought back online swiftly.
They are remarkably trustworthy and easy to talk to. They gave me a quote for a gas line, completed the work, discovered a more efficient and cost-effective method, and returned half of my payment. They stood by their warranty obligations when I experienced a failure with my expansion tank.
