To make a long story short, I put a claim into my home warranty service for an air conditioner that was not cooling properly. This call for an air conditioner not cooling led to 2 months of headaches with the air conditioner and my home warranty service company. At the end of it all, the unit was still not functioning as it should and my home warranty service company was essentially telling me that I was on my own for any additional service. Master Tech services has been out to my house to repair a separate air conditioner unit so in desperation I called to see if there is anything they could do. Thankfully I ended up in contact with Torrey Richardson. Torrey was nothing but helpful and compassionate with the aggravation that I was going through with this unit. He went beyond my expectations in making sure the unit was back in working order and making sure I was completely satisfied with how things were handled. I have since discovered that Master Tech is affiliated with my home warranty service and have requested that they be the only company that is sent out if I should need air conditioner service again. The Henderson family thanks you Torrey and Master Tech.
Master Tech was contracted for our AC repair through First American Home Warranty. I recognized the technician from a previous repair two years ago. The technician told us our compressor was out and there was no fix to it. He left and when he returned he told me that the out of pocket uncovered cost was at least $1400 and that it would be at least 7-10 business days before install. He did mention that if we wanted to cut 1st American out of the picture, they could be out on the next business day to replace for $7699 or he just happened to have financing terms available for us at 5 years $128.31/mo. We contacted 1st American and requested another company. They dispatched, and the new company confirmed that the compressor could be fixed with total out of pocket costs of $350. I inquired about the amount they would charge for replacement. They indicated they would replace for $2400 since we were 1st American customers. Master Tech pulled the same business on us two years before with coil replacement. It cost us $905 then. It's clear that they are writing their repair estimates and recommended work around the parameters of what the home warranty company will not cover. This company took advantage of the fact that we were in the middle of record-breaking temperatures. I would recommend staying as far away from Master Tech as possible.
An absolutely terrible experience from beginning to end. I really can't believe the level of service, or lack thereof. Contact me directly if you want details. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
First American Home Warranty sent Master Tech out. A $75 service charge grew into $195 because the tech said the unit needed maintenance before it could be repaired. He was rude and dishonest. He was at my home less than 10 minutes, never performed the maintenance he charged me for and the unit worked for about a week before it went out again. I would never recommend this company to anyone and plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Scheduled service for a leaking AC unit that is ruining my floors. Agreed to service between 10-1. I specifically tailored my schedule to be home between the scheduled time. I arrived at my house at 9:50. Checked my cameras to see the technician came between 9:15 and 9:30, well before the scheduled time. I called to see where he was and they said he cannot return between the time THEY had it scheduled for. I asked to speak with a manager and reschedule. They stopped answering their phones and did not call back. The manager I left a message with has not returned my calls. If you tell me when you will arrive at my home, don't show up 45 minutes early, not stay until the scheduled time, and blame it on the customer.
EDIT: I am editing this review after they attempted to "resolve" my issue and still give this business 1 Star. AFTER I left a review that negatively reflects on Master Tech, I received a call for a technician to return to my home on an agreed time. They finally showed up and claimed the issue was not an HVAC problem and to submit another service request thru my warranty company for plumbing. I did so and lo and behold, Master Tech was again contracted out for the job. I received a email saying someone would contact me shortly since I had an "emergency" request. I called to schedule an appointment, no answer. Master Tech never called me back or ever scheduled an appointment. I went online to check the service request and magically it stated that a contractor was yet to be located for my request. This is after I received a confirmation email stating Master Tech would contact me for expedited service.
This company is a joke and they DGAF until it affects their bottom line. Even then, they can't seem to get anything right. I actually had to call my warranty company to make sure to have Master Tech contracted out to my home.
Master Tech Service Corp does shoddy work and hides behind a worthless 30 day warranty. I had them (through American Home Shield Insurance) come out to fix a faulty shut off valve in my guest bathroom. Months later, unbeknownst to us , it had sprung a slow leak, slow enough that by the time it would be detected, the damage was already done to our once perfect floor. THE NEGLIGENCE WAS OBVIOUS TO THE OTHER PLUMBER WHO CAME AND REPAIRED LATER because there had been absolutely NO pipe dope or sealer put on the threads when they replaced the valve. That is BASIC plumbing and should not have been skipped over. Now we are in a position where we have to replace flooring and sub-flooring and remove the toilet to do so. I nicely requested to file a claim with their insurance and they flat out denied any responsibility. Now, I am forced to pursue this through other avenues. I've read other reviews as well and surprised they haven't been sued already. Worthless. I will not be using them or American Home Shield again ever. I suggest you steer clear of this company altogether.
Jessica L.This company is dishonest and unhelpful , unable to do the work but not welling to admit it. For Ac problem spending more than two months could not fix it, even not answer the phone, avoiding customer's questions during this hot summer weather in Texas.
Where do I begin? Wish I could leave no stars. Bear with me, as this review is a culmination of almost a month of rage and poor service. Our A/C had gone out (compressor was broken), and so our home warranty enlisted a technician from Master Tech to come out to our house on a Saturday in April (I believe it was around April 28).
To preface this review, I come from a family of HVAC engineers. For example, my dad used to design and install industrial HVAC systems (the giant units that go on top of industrial buildings and businesses). When I have a doubt or question about something, my family typically knows the answer. It's unfortunate that my dad no longer does that kind of work and, as such, does not have the necessary tools, or I would have had him do the repairs himself (and saved myself and my husband a lot of headaches and fluid loss).
As it was, my dad could not assist us except to give us his thoughts on what was wrong, and so we met with Rocky, the first Master Tech technician to whom we were introduced. Rocky seemed knowledgeable enough, and gave us a list of issues. One of the things my dad had said I should ask about is if we had a Freon leak. So I asked Rocky just that.
Rocky replied that he couldn't tell, because since the compressor was broken, he couldn't check the Freon levels. Rocky then said that it's quite possible we do. Later, I had my dad call Rocky and ask him (I guess in engineer-speak) what the PSI was on the meter when he was checking the compressor. Rocky said the PSI was 120. To which my dad replied, "Well then, if there is still that much pressure in there, wouldn't that rule out a Freon leak?" Rocky then backpedaled and told my dad that yes, most likely there wasn't a leak. Which completely goes against his earlier statement to me when he said "It's quite possible that you do have a Freon leak."
That was my first poor interaction with the company.
We were then left with three options given to us by Master Tech. Rocky told me that we should be hearing from the home warranty company in a couple of days in order to schedule a service.
Two days, then three, ticked by, and we still hadn't heard from the home warranty company. So I called the home warranty company. They informed me that they had yet to receive information from Master Tech regarding what was wrong, and that they would try and reach Master Tech and get back to us. Finally, after four days, the home warranty company called us and said they had finally been able to reach Master Tech and that Master Tech would be calling us to set up a time to schedule the service (we were going to have to pay a fraction of what we had thought we were going to pay, so we were happy at this point).
We waited. And waited. For FIVE more days, we waited. At this point, we'd been without A/C for two-and-a-half weeks. Did I mention yet that I am 9 months pregnant?
I called Master Tech and left voicemail after voicemail. I called them in the morning, afternoon and evening. I left my phone number, my name, my husband's phone number. I called the warranty company to ask them if they could reach out to Master Tech since Master Tech was being unresponsive.
And still no response from Master Tech. My home warranty company sent emails to them and also left them voicemails. NO RESPONSE. At this point, I was desperate and frustrated. No A/C, hot and angry, after a full 8 days of waiting for Master Tech to get back to me regarding setting up a service time, I decided to march my happy backside straight to their physical location to demand answers. When I showed up to their office (I had to take time off work in order to do this, which is piss poor service in my opinion...that I should have to go to them in order to be heard and helped), the lights were off in the lobby. I could hear a woman talking somewhere, but no one rushed out to help me. Finally someone saw me and asked me what I needed.
I told them my name and that I had been calling them and so had my home warranty company and that I couldn't seem to get a response regarding setting up a service time. The woman informed me that they were about to call me that day (to which my skeptical mind thought, suuuuuure). The woman said they had been waiting on the home warranty company to contact them to confirm that we wanted the service done. This had to have been complete BS, because my home warranty company and I had been calling them incessantly for over a week. I was able to schedule my service for the next day.
Long story short(ish), the technicians came out, installed the unit; they spit their dip tobacco slobber in my front bushes. They didn't give me an owners manual or any paperwork. I have since called my home warranty company and had them remove Master Tech as a vendor for any future work I might need done. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE. And impossible to get a hold of. Very shady.
I did receive a call from the manager who did apologize for the wait, he was very friendly about it. I understand its that time of year and they are busy. He did take care of things.
Thanks
NEVER use this company, they don't do what they say and they lie about it!!!!
Got a text at 1:34 saying they were on their way. I got home in 28 minutes and tech was no where in the neighborhood!! Took over 30 minutes to get someone on the phone and then it took them 15 minutes to 'reach the tech'. Came back on the line and told me how they had been on the phone with him the whole time, he ate his lunch, etc, etc (maybe they should be answering customer calls instead of chatting with a tech for 30 minutes!!) Best part - my neighbor saw him drive up and leave - was there less than 5 minutes - I told her this and she still claimed he waited 30 minutes!!!!
