Ok. So this company works with First American, a home owners insurance company, which you get when you buy a home and want to make sure if something is broken then the insurance pays for it. Well they work together, First American hires Rooter Master to do the jobs and maybe they get a deal for giving them so much business. Which btw has a 1 star from hundreds of bad reviews for them hiring bad repair men to do work on your house. Rooter Master was supposed to do a free install on a free water heater for us through our insurance company, which means they get paid nothing. So they told us we needed this list of parts that totaled $600. First of all, the free water heater came with most of the parts they listed. Second, they said that the price of parts were each about $100 but we looked at Home Depot and the ""$600 worth of parts"" came out to $60 which we didn't even need half the stuff because it comes on the water heater already. Then we told the insurance company that Rooter Master was trying to scam us and they didn't care. Then Rooter Master called us to ask if we still wanted them to install our water heater. Which we declined saying we would have a different company do the job. They proceeded to report us to the city (of Oxnard) which legally you need a permit to install, repair, alter, or remove a water heater among many other items (anything water, gas, or electric related). When someone reports you to the city you get violations and fines. Which you need to call and have them inspect your property so they can give you more fines for anything else the see, which could be anything from a window on your house at some point was replaced without a permit which was maybe way before you bought your house but they don't care, or that someone installed a new light switch, or maybe you put in a new dish washer. So get ready for your savings to be emptied if you cross these guys. We are just 2 young first time buyers not looking to get screwed over for a false $600 water heater fix, and then these guys think it's funny to report someone who has NOT even done any non permitted work on their property. Hilarious. I love taking time off work for the city to inspect false allegations on my property. So funny. Well I think that's a crack up because they didn't have a permit to work on our house in the first place either which means they do work on properties and not have permits all the time. So I guess I could follow them around and report them on every job they do that I see them making violations and working on unpermitted jobs. Yep. That is hilarious. Them losing thousands of dollars and their whole company goes bye bye. I'm so glad they made me think of it. It's probably going to suck when hundreds of your customers call and complain that they got violations in the mail. I wonder who did it... If not you then who.. Oh yeah. So funny.

Let me start off by saying yelp should have the option to put negative stars, because I feel the any type of ""star"" rating for this place is not warranted. Called these people to install a new water heater as mine had gone out. They were able to come out next day and diagnose that my water heater did indeed need to be replaced. The techs were cool, one of them was in training, super nice guys, no complaints there. So then they get on the phone with the owner, Abe, and he starts asking all sorts of questions about the heater. He was on speaker with the tech so I overheard the whole conversation. Then proceeds to say that I need $600 worth of ""upgrades"" in order to get the new water heater to work. At this point I'm so confused because things were going good so far. I ask why so much and the tech says I need new vents and straps. For $600?!?! I don't think so. So I get on the phone with guy and after some back and forth I get him to give me an itemized list of where my $600 is going. I was almost laughing at how ridiculous some of these prices were! I honestly don't know where he comes up with these numbers. Not only are they grossly overpriced, they aren't even relative to each other vs the actual cost. Like he quoted $100 for something that was really $60, but then $90 for something that was $10. The guy must literally be tossing darts at a board with prices on it and just going with that. I've uploaded the photo of his quoted cost of items vs. The quick google search I did for these things at Lowes. Hopefully it will stay up. And the real kicker is half of the things he quoted me on I didn't even need!!!!!! He wouldn't do the job unless I agreed to get all the parts replaced that he deemed necessary and at his cost. This place is the biggest rip off I've ever seen. Stay very far away from Rooter Master and Abe. Oh and one more thing, their customer service reps suck.

My neighbor and I had a nightmarish experience with this plumber, Abe, the manager of Rooter Master. Because our regular plumber was unavailable, Abe came to snake out our kitchen drains at an estimated cost of more than twice what my regular guy charges. My condo is joined with my neighbor's condo. My regular plumber tried to explain the configuration of the pipes. Abe refused to listen and made it worse. Black sludge backed up in both of our kitchen sinks. He bullied my neighbor into paying him for the service call even though he didn't finish the job. The next day our regular guy came and fixed the problem. The black goo discolored my porcelain sink. Never again.

If I can give zero star, I would. First day two hours late so re-appointment next day, one hour late. Don't have sense of ""on time"". They wasted my valuable time. That's what I call unprofessional.
