My water heater broke over the weekend; I called PG&E because I smelled gas. The PG&E technician came to my house, tried to restart the water heater to no avail. Then he brought in a gas detector and determined the line to the water heater was broken; so he disconnected it. Today Mason Plumbing put in a new water heater. They smelled gas, brought in the same type of gas detector and determined the gas leak was coming from an adjacent pipe connected to our gas heater for radiant heat for the house. Cameron Mason not only replaced the water heater at a reasonable price, he corrected a very dangerous situation. We have used Mason Plumbing for many years. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

My wife concluded that we needed a seismic shut off valve for our gas line, and I called one of the high profile plumbers in Marin. I have wrench hanging next to the gas meter, but she was concerned that when the ""big one"" came we might be having coffee at Rulli's, and unable to shut off the gas line. I also noted that the wrench was frozen shut after years of exposure to the elements, so it would have been useless.We haven't had the need for a plumber in a while so we currently don't have a ""go to"" plumber. The young man arrived, and gave me an estimate of around $1,000 to do the work. I thought it was a bit high.I asked about re-lighting the gas water heater if the shut off value cut off the gas supply. I showed him the water heater, and he noted that it was 16 ears old, and showed signs of leaking. I asked him for a quote to replace the heater. I thought that it was also a bit high. As a general rule I don't have the temperament or discipline to call more than one company for an estimate, but I called one of those companies that specialize in water heaters. They charge $79 just to show up and give an estimate.They arrived, and gave us an estimate that was about 30% below the first company. But, they only do water heaters, and couldn't do a shut off valve. So I called a local plumber listed on Diamond Certified, Mason Plumbing. Cameron Mason, the owner got back to me in one day. In fact he called me back on Sunday. He showed up on Monday, gave me an estimate for the cut off valve and the water heater, and said he could do
the work on Tuesday. The price for the shut off valve installation was 50% less than the first quote I received, and the price for the water heater was slightly less than the water heater specialists. Interestingly all three firms use Bradford White water heaters so there was an apple to apple comparison. Cameron Mason, the owner showed up Tuesday morning with a young associate and advised me that it would take 5 to 7 hours. The job was finished in 5 1/2 hours. No mess. Efficient and competent. Highly recommended.

Since my original review, I have had Cameron and company re-pipe my entire home and install a new water heater after mine failed. They are simply the best. Brandon did the re-piping and is absolutely the hardest working and most pleasant guy to deal with. Cameron and Shane did the hot water heater replacement - trying their damnedest to just replace the igniter assembly before conceding that the entire water heater needed to go, and then barely charging me at all for the igniter. Great customer service and quality work - they're the best.

We have used Mason 3 times. The 2nd time, I asked if I could get trained in replacing an old leaking elbow joint under a bathroom sink. Cameron walked me through all the steps while answering all my questions expertly. I learned valuable basics about our house's plumbing. This has given more confidence about assessing plumbing projects.

Anyways, no ""service"" in the bay-area is cheap. I highly recommend hiring Cameron and then picking his brain while the meter is running. This will help you gain better control over the ""money pit"" - your house.

The customer service with this company is great! Started off with a great conversation with the dispatcher. She was very sweet and personable. She was able to get a plumber out to fix my overflowing toilet same day, and I called late in the morning. The plumber was very friendly as well. I have never talked to a dispatcher as friendly and knowledgeable as the one Mason Plumbing has. Thank you Christina and Mason Plumbing family!

We have used Mason Plumbing four times now. Every experience has been outstanding. One time Cameron even came and assessed a potential leak and stated that it was not a leak. He didn't charge me. Most recently Shane came and fixed a leaking drain pipe at a sink. Quick, thorough, and cleaned up afterward above and beyond.

Mason plumbing did a wonderful job replacing the very old pipes in our house with new copper piping. The job was done in just a couple of days with minimal inconvenience for our family. The cost was much much lower than we had anticipated. A+ rated by us!

We have had a wonderful experience with Mason Plumbing. Cameron scheduled an estimate within a day of when I called.He explained our problem and the choices we had. The work was done within a few days. Cameron called the morning of the work to say when Shane, the plumbing technician, would arrive and Shane arrived on the dot! He was so very nice and personable and respectful of our space as he replaced a toilet and a hot water heater. He explained everything to us before he left.
