First time ever hiring from ThumbTack and it has been a terrible experience.
We signed a contract with Alex to have our yard leveled, a retainer wall put in, we had a stumps that needed to be removed and he said he could also take care of that. My fiancé paid additional money aside from the contract for a tree to be removed. The project was to be completed in 3 days- They advertise having a team of 7, so this seemed possible. I ordered Retaining wall cinder blocks, which arrived a day later than expected. This began the nightmare of our yard work.

Alex arrived to work at 2pm or later for the days he came to work, and was gone by 5pm, 6pm at the latest. One of the days, Alex arrived at almost 9pm to work, he was in the yard about 30 minites and left. He arrived each day with his fiancée who did little to nothing to help. The fiancée stayed in the truck, or walked around recording Alex while he worked.

Our project took almost a week to be ""Finished."" Upon ""completion,"" we were absolutely not satisfied. The most noticeable issue being that the yard was not level. As we took in what we were being left with, we realized that the retaining wall was not stable. The Cinder Blocks were stacked without rebar, or cement, and the notches on the back of each block were not placed properly, so the entire ""wall,"" is not safe. The wall was also only partly set up. It should have made an L shape, and instead it made a straight line, leaving a portion of hill exposed and able to fall forward.
Alex claims that he has delivered exactly what he agreed to. He called us ungrateful, and has since stopped contact. We are now left with thousands of dollars of work to do on our yard. Thousands to fix what he started and didn't complete, and thousands to fix the ""wall,"" which is basically just a line of Cinder Blocks that are stacked in a line. He may be great with plumbing, but for anything to do with a yard, buyer beware!

Had a leak in main water line that needed to be replaced. After speaking to many companies and learning about the problem felt that got the truth from Alex and Co so chose them. Through the process I always got calls if there was a time change or issue. When the county failed to mark the utilities as scheduled ended up getting the work done right around christmas. I was fine with after the holiday but they wanted to get it done which was perfect.
After about 6 months i saw water flowing again and called MD Worx. They came out the same day. Turned out leak was not from my house so didnt have to waste time worrying about it.

Horrible work, look at photos. Called owner to address the problem, his lovely answer was 'f yourself'. Currently has a MDE complaint registered, putting clients and their CHILDREN at danger. A picture speaks a thousand words.

Complaints filed with MDE, Maryland DLLR and BBB. Do not use

On 11/9/2021, while my contractor was renovating my basement bathroom, he found tree roots under my toilet. He then recommended me to buy a machine which costs about $4,000, must pay in cash and no receipt will be given. I don't like to deal with companies which don't want to provide receipt and demand all cash, so I went online to search for machines and found some cost only few hundreds. But my contractor said those won't clear tree roots. I then went online again to search for services that can clear tree roots and found a few companies in Home Advisor. I went to see the reviews and found Alex's reviews are more recent than the others, so I sent a request for quote. Within minutes, got a call from Alex and the price is $550, including the camera for free. So I just booked it for the next morning without comparing any other quotes.

My contractor told me that someone can do the same at $380, but at that time I already lost confidence and wouldn't be interested in what he said.

I might be paying too much for the job, given that my toilet was not even clogged. But Alex was very punctual and very professional and helped me save thousands to buy a machine I probably won't need in my life.

Our basement toilet backed up, along with an external drain pipe in the outside basement stairwell. I googled for drain-clearing services, called a few to see how they charged. Few gave me any answer; one said it would be at least $500. Alex said it would be $250 for the first 2 hours, would include snaking the drains and a camera followup. He arrived shortly after our call, went to work, was very tidy inside our house. He had to remove the toilet, then the bathroom door to get his snaking machine in. Then he worked the problem, cleared the drains, ran a camera thru the pipes to show us the scaling. He then CLEANED UP COMPLETELY behind himself, leaving the bathroom cleaner than he found it, and left us a functioning drain system. We would definitely use him again, and wish him well with his new business.
