Rude phone service. I wanted to try them to hook up my gas driver, the phone person said it was a minimum $150 charge and they would start their timer when they left the office. I cancelled the appointment.
We had a clogged sewer pipe. B4 we knew this we called Martins. I expected 1 licensed plumber. Instead 4 young drones showed up and started milling around our house. They informed us they would have to pull the toilet to run a snake? It takes 4 people to do this? Anyway they pulled the toilet and didnt bother draining the water and just dumped it all over our floor. It was then i fired them and told them all to get. They were barely here 20 minutes. I could have done what they did for free blindfolded. We were charged $165. What a SHAM! I also had to clean the toilet water mess they dumped on the floor. Martins refused to lower their charges. Screw them, ill never call them again.
Tech Richard showed up intoxicated and slurring his word. To fix a sink. Complaining that it an after hours call and would rather be home. Poor service and I would not recommend ever
Auchinachie was going to charge me $3600 for a new well pump after running some amp draw tests. Well, I got a ""second opinion"" from Martin Plumbing who came right over. Greg and Ritchie were actually able to fix the problem this afternoon by simply checking under the well cap where they discovered this (see attached picture). They cut out the bad section you see in the photo, capped the clean wires and flipped the circuit breaker and I had water again. The Auchinachie tech did not even open up the well cap. Thank you Martin Plumbing and Heating for your super fast and honest service!
My long time plumber has a long term illness so I wanted to find a new plumber for a problem with my basement pump up Toilet. Martin advertises in my church bulletin in Apalachin so I gave them a call. I was informed before they came that they charged $75 and hour (including the time from their shop and back) plus parts. As a new customer I paid the worker when the job was complete. I wrote down the times that the plumber wrote down on the receipt I signed. When I questioned some of the times he said I would receive a detailed breakdown in the mail which I did. Here are some of the issues I have with their service: 1) Charged me 37 minutes each way for travel. At &%/Hr that is about $92. MapQuest says 20 minutes to my house to their shop and they always run high. 2) They charged $5 material for using the Auger 2) The plumber did not do the obvious thing of seeing if the toilet was clogged until after he spent time on the pump and on the phone until I recommended he try unclogging the toilet first before proceeding which was a 10 minute job and fixed the problem. At $75 and hour ( a total of $147) all these things add up to more then double what my former plumber would have charged. I called and politely asked them to explain the bill. They did not seem concerned that I called. Anyway, hopefully this was just a fluke. They have been in business many years with many happy customers.
