we chose this company to replace our old ac...on the advise of a neighbor who worked for the company.....BIG MISTAKE....we were looking for a new quality unit...instead...without our knowledge...they sold us a discontinued carrier unit....they installed it.....damaged the ceiling opening (which i had to repair).....one month later...middle of summer...the new unit blows up...there were no replacement units...anywhere in the us.....so they had to install a rescue motor......bottom line....HUGE HASSLE....they offered a free 10 year service contract as compensation...HERE is the kicker...called their service dept....guess what? they don't have a service dept anymore....i know this because another neighbor who had marlin install their ac and who was having problems..called and was informed they no longer had a service dept....so i guess our service contract is worthless.....Also...apparently marlin installed a bunch of units in our sub division because i have talked to several neighbors who have had major issues with improper and substandard ac installation......in summary....DO NOT choose this company...you will be sorry...

We got a call from one of our tenants on a Friday that their heat pump was ""out"" and they were not getting cold air. Marlin Services had installed the unit about four years ago and it was still under warranty, so we called them at about 11:30.
Technician went out and called us a little later to tell us that the compressor needed to be replaced, but it was under warranty. He told us the soonest he could get a new compressor was Monday morning and that it would cost $1300 in labor to replace it. After inquiring about why it would cost so much, he told me that $1300 is the flat fee they charge for warranty work. Also, I asked if there was anything he could do to get the unit running until he could get the warranty-covered compressor and he said, ""No - it has to be the exact unit or it won't work."" One of our tenants is an 80-year old woman, so I asked him again, and he again confirmed that it would be Monday before he could get it working. Meanwhile, the temperature was over 110 and it was 95 in the house.
Disappointed with the time to get a new unit and the cost, I called another company (H&I Home Services). They quickly came out and told me two things:
1. It was not the compressor, it was the capacitor (a much cheaper part), and
2. Even if it were the compressor, they are fairly interchangeable, so you can put in a different unit temporarily until the one covered by warranty is available
So to summarize, Marlin has technicians that don't know how to properly diagnose a problem and don't care enough about people to go even slightly out of their way to try and get an air conditioner working when the temperature is 110+. Also a $1300 flat fee for a job that takes 2 hours is outrageous

If only zero was an option... grrrr...
Bought a brand new AC unit from these folks a few years ago. EVERY year since, it has needed repair. Only once has the repair been covered under warranty. The AC was clearly a piece of citrus, and I don't mean an orange!
Call anyone but these shysters!

I needed a plumber. My toilet wasn't flushing and was coming up in my shower. Marlin came out, charged me $89.95 told me I needed a new toilet and that would be about $500. They, of course, would apply that initial charge to my service. Fortunately for me, I knew a toilet and installation shouldn't cost that much and told them no thanks. Walked away $90 poorer. I get a real plumber out and turns out my toilet is just fine. I have roots in my line. I tried to call Marlin and have them refund my $90, but they stated that Steven tells everyone that calls that it is $89.95 to come out and look for the service charge. Except I have a problem with that. Steven didn't tell me that. For that price, I would have gone with another company. In fact, I did after the Marlin plumber couldn't even take the time to properly diagnose my issue. It was $69 to come out and the plumber took the time necessary to thoroughly assess the repair.
Bottom line - In my opinion, Marlin does not care about you or your plumbing issues...only getting their $89.95 and whatever other cash they can get you to cough up. I mean really? $500 for a toilet?!?

We called Marlin for a commercial service. 1st trip out; their plumber was not able to fix anything; suggested we poured bleach down the drain to see if that helps. The 3rd trip we thought they fixed it; however the next day we had sewer water spewing up from our sinks and fountains. We called Marlin back who was lackadaiscal about coming out to fix the problem. To make a long story short; 3 services calls from Marlin + a crappy situation(sewage back up)= a call to a plumber who was able to come out with in a couple of hours and was able to fix it the first time.
