I really want to like this company but they installed the wrong water heater in January, and that almost gave us carbon monoxide poisoning - twice. We have propane and they installed natural gas. We called after the first leak and they didn't find the problem. They said the boiler needed to be replaced. It probably does, but a week later the same leak happened, and when they came back this time they realized they had installed the wrong heater. They didn't apologize, but they swapped it out, and I had to call the office to get a refund from the first visit. I'm sure it was an honest mistakes but we are lucky we weren't asleep when the gas leaked and that my CO detector was plugged in and working.

Seeing all their great reviews made me want to continue working with them even then, and I asked about estimates for replacing the boiler and swapping the well pump, and they just now sent me an estimate for the wrong kind of pump. Too bad, I really did give them every chance to live up to their reputation.

I needed to replace a heating unit in a condo. I called Mark Lindsay and they came out the next day. They let me know what needed to be done, ordered the unit, and got us up and running. Very fast response, arrived when they said they would, and the pricing was super fair. Great customer service too, the office people are friendly and helpful. I'll be calling them again for sure.

I needed an emergency service call on a Saturday. I called a number of plumbers in the area, ultimately choosing this one because of the great reviews.

Did not have a great experience.

The service tech that came was very helpful and worked quickly. He diagnosed the problem and informed me that the Aquastat had gotten fried and I would need a replacement. This is essentially a circuit board inside of the housing that controls the pump for my boiler.

He wasn't able to give me a price, went out to the truck to retrieve the part and presumably call the office for a price. When he came back he told me the replacement part was $655 dollars. So on top of the $175 service charge - my bill for this one hour job was north of $800.

This being an emergency and already agreeing to the service call - I paid the bill. Afterwards I went online to look up the part and it RETAILS for around $130-$200 dollars (this includes the entire Aquastat with the housing and other components, not just the circuit board).

So the $600+ charge for the part seemed exploitative and I called the company right away and I filled out a support ticket on their website

I spoke with Diane the office manager who agreed that this seemed high and she was going to get the cost of the part and call me back.

I had also responded to an email from Rick Fenn in their sales department that was following up with me. His explanation was that the charge for the part includes all of the administrative and operational charges that they incur in order to service my home.

Diane made no mention of this to me and it sounded fishy. Why would they put a line item on your bill called ""service charge"" but then bury a $400 dollar up charge in the price of the product to cover operational expenses? Is it because they don't want to disclose these costs when you call them in an emergency and you have to pay it when they're standing in front of you with little choice? That's the way it felt.

The office manager Diane had no explanation for me when I called back and mentioned the email I received from their sales person. She said they did not charge $400 an hour, did not know the cost of the product yet and would speak with their sales person. I haven't received an update.

I am new to the area and was hoping for a long term relationship with a company that doesn't exploit me in a time of need. I operated in good faith and gave them an opportunity to respond reasonably, but I will definitely take my business elsewhere and I hope this serves as a cautionary tale for those who consider them for service.

We purchased a recently renovated home, originally constructed in 1929, which was sold as having a new furnace. We realized when summer turned into winter, the new furnace was actually retrofitted on a pre-existing central air conditioning system. During a cold snap in November, our first floor was in the 50s, while our second floor had bedrooms in the 80s and 70s. The existing system was designed for air conditioning and we needed help. On colder days (in the 20s and 30s) we'd freeze in our kitchen and my 1-year-old's bedroom monitor would alert us for high heat conditions. We had our kitchen cabinet doors open to due to concerns of pipe freezing and we had temporary space heaters on our first floor. Space heaters were bandaids and not the permanent answer, particularly with a 1-year-old running around on our first floor and my wife was pregnant with our second child.

After scouring online reviews of various contractors, we interviewed several candidates for their feedback. A whole house overhaul of our heating system was the only solution.

Mark Lindsay stood out for their responsiveness, the quality of the products they use, and their experience with tackling a big project.

I am not an experienced homeowner and we needed to feel confidence in who we worked with. A whole house overhaul of a heating system meant cutting holes in ceilings, walls, baseboard trim. It meant new pipes (gas and water) in our semi-finished basement, pipes in certain walls and changes to our electrical system to feed electricity to new equipment. It was not a small undertaking and not a decision we took lightly as we just bought the home.

After several days of work, with up to 5 technicians working in our house at the same time, we now have a new three-zone combi boiler and hot water baseboard heating running throughout the house.

The technicians who installed the equipment were professional, cleaned up after themselves each day and the quality of their work was exceptional, even to our untrained eyes.

Our daughter was recently born and we were excited to bring her back into the warm house. We are thankful for all of the work completed by Mark Lindsay and we won't hesitate to reach out to them in the future.

I highly recommend this business- I have in fact. To my boss. Who put a whole new hvac system in his house. I've never had one employee on the phone or in my home that I didn't have complete satisfaction with. They are knowledgeable, reasonably priced, prompt and clean. I will continue to use them and only them.

They have done work for me in the past and I will admit it is quality work. Their technicians are friendly and skilled at what they do....here's the ""but""....I was recently having problems with my oil burner. It was blowing a lot of smoke and shutting down. Online searches and opinions of other homeowners I know led me to believe it needed to be cleaned and serviced. Ok, no big deal. I shut it down and called Mark Lindsay. Tech came out, again, nice kid, and pretty much confirmed what I had suspected...it needed to be cleaned (it was really bad, admittedly) and serviced. He gets on the phone with his manager, sends a few pictures and tells me the job is starting at $950, before any parts being replaced. Then he tells me that they can't even do the job that day because it would take so long due to the fact that the ""whole thing"" had to be taken apart. I pay their $134 diagnosis fee and explain to the tech that he had to understand I would be shopping around for other prices. Well fast forward to tonight. I had another company come out and do the job...with a few minor parts replaced, for $200, in about an hour. I told him what I was quoted and he laughed because he genuinely thought I was kidding. Just beware with this company. I feel like they take advantage of you if you're not that knowledgeable on what you're asking them to do.

I set up an appointment with this company for today. They said they would be here between 12-2pm. I had a babysitter cancel on me at the last minute to take my kids. 2pm rolls by with no call or show. I call the company to make sure the service man wasn't lost. Wendy tells me the dispatcher is on the phone and she will call me right back. 30 minutes go by no call. I call her back and she tells me the dispatcher will call me.

When will she call? I don't know she says. My kids are stir crazy and going nuts in the house and I can't even get a timeframe or ETA, or a call back! I get that the plumbers can get behind on appointments but COMMUNICATE! It's the respectful thing to do when you are over an hour late to a two hour window. It would go a long ways.

My advice is don't call this company unless you want to waste your whole day and still not get your problem fixed!

On the plus side, they did a nice job. They arrived on time and they replaced our faucet and it's working. I was upset, though, because the cheapest faucet cost almost $600 to install. I was kind of desparate (they were going to charge a lot to come out over the weekend, so we were without a sink for 3 days by the time they arrived on Tuesday) and I said yes to it, but the minute they left, I started to feel like I'd been ripped off. I canvased neighbors and other local plumbers and pretty much everyone said I'd paid about twice as much as I should have paid. I called them and they said they'd look into it and call me back, and it's a week and a half later and no one ever called. So I learned my lesson. Again, the plumber was professional and did a good job. They just charge too much (in my opinion) and I would never have left this review if someone had just called me back as promised.

Just did a complete central air replacement. ML met all expectations, professional job, no BS once job was in progress, came in at quote. AC works great.
