My hot water heater started acting up on a Friday night. By Saturday morning, I noticed the tap water was exceptional hot, too hot to touch. Then, by Saturday night I ran out of hot water. Resetting the heater seemed to fix the issue, but it overheated the water again. After some researching and contemplating my options, I decided to reach out to a professional.

I contacted Mark to see if he could come and diagnose my heater and offer a quote for any repairs needed. Mark was able to come over my house as soon as I was available to meet him. He was very professional and analyzed the situation and gave me a few options on how to remedy it. Most likely, the thermostat in the heater went and it would need to be replaced. But since my heater was 13 years old, another option, probably the better one, would be to replace the entire heater. Mark quoted me a very fair price to fix my heater, or replace and install a new one. Mark shared his professional opinion, and the options, without trying to sell me anything, or pressure me one way or another.

I had asked Mark how soon he would be able to fix the heater, and how fast. To my surprise, Mark said he had an opening the very next day, and it would only take about an hour to install a new one. After Mark left, I discussed my options with acquaintances and family, and I decided the best decision would be just to replace the heater.

A couple hours later, I called Mark and asked several more questions. He answered my questions professionally and respectfully. He was not condescending and was very patient with my inquiries. I decided to hire Mark to replace the heater.

The next day he arrived with one other person, and the new heater, ready for installation. I was amazed by his speed and precision with installing the heater, piping, and electrical wire. If I had tried to install this myself, it would have probably taken me days; it took Mark 1 hour. The heater is working great, and the installation looks fabulous! After a stressful weekend of not knowing if, or when, I would have hot water, it was great to finally relax and be able to enjoy a long, hot shower with my girlfriend.

Mark was prompt in initial inspection of job, gave me a fair price on the spot, and did the job in coordination with a simultaneous full septic system replacement. A very nice dude who was willing to let me pick his brain a bit about other surrounding potential replacements and improvements. Definitely going back when I need a certified plumber who does it to code for a fair price.

Update: Had him back again for another tricky drain replacement. Again, promptly returned a calls/messaging, showed up when said he would, and charged a very nice price for a complete and code-compliant job.

I called around in an emergency on a weekend. Mark came over when the big companies wouldn't, he charged a reasonable fee; the other big companies had huge emergency fees even though they wouldn't respond. His work was perfect from beginning to end, AND he is a really nice guy on top of all that, making the experience a pleasure.
