One of my vent stacks on my roof was badly clogged. And when the technician Josh walked me through everything that needed to be done he was very thorough and made sure I understood everything. They are very reasonable priced. And the workers were very nice. I will definitely be using them again in the future if I ever need them again.
Jennifer F.Let me start by saying that I was looking for a local plumber, we like to support the small businesses and I have always hoped that it's the small businesses that care about you. We wanted someone we can trust and that wouldn't gouge us with high prices just because they could.
I called them on the weekend, just to see if they were open or to schedule an appoinment. They told me it would be like $120 emergency charge if I wanted them on a Saturday and we weren't in a hurry. She told me to call back on Monday morning for an appointment. I did that, they came same day. It was a $65 ""trip fee"" for them to come out to my house. The verdict was that we had some fuse tripping, he taught us how to push the fuse back in. He said the water heater was getting old, need a new one eventually, etc. My problem is NOT with the technician, he was fine. My issue is that they charged us $200 more just for that. Nothing was actually fixed, the problem will keep happening and they just told us how to keep fixing it until it finally goes.
$265. ugh.
leaky faucet in bathtub which just needs a new faucet cut out, refitted with new etc (I know enough about plumbing) and proposal with a whole bunch of other stuff I didn't ask for was 2,700. Come on fellas. I guided the conversation of how it can be repaired and they said they could do it and cost was 675 if I supply faucet and do other work.
Im all about paying for service but let's be realistic here. I do not recommend.
charged us to come out for a dye test which they couldnt complete due to inadequate equipment (camera was too big for sewage pipe) while also unnecessarily tearing a garden downspout to see where it leads out (clearly into a planter)
I heavily recommend not using this company if you have an old house.
Cari G.we contacted them because they could come out on an emergency basis. We had a backup in the upstairs bathroom and water was pouring into the downstairs.
They came out and gave an estimate of $400-1600 to use a jetter service to clear the clog. The tech came the next day and went through both the roof and removed the upstairs toilet. He worked for 3 hrs and said he cleared the clog. He told my husband that he didn't have the right tools or parts to replace the toilet and told my husband to replace this. He also didn't have the eqi to do the camera test. He charged us $1535 for the jetter service and $85 service call and left. After my husband made 2 trips to Lowes to get the parts to replace the toilet (not having water this whole time) I emailed the company about the tech not finishing the job. They sent someone out to put The toilet back on. Then while they were there it turns out that the clog was not fully cleared and the tub was now clogged. They cleared this and then left.
Someone called a few days later about the camera test and said they would charge another $250 for the camera test. we chose to use another plumbing company. I felt $500/hr is alot to pay for plumbing. Esp when they might not finish the job.
called them to check our kitchen faucet which stopped working and check on a downstairs leak from the wash tub. Kitchen faucet needed replaced and they wanted $625 for a new one.. just the faucet. Said we had broken pipes under the concrete in the basement - the boss quoted $3200 over the phone. after an hour nothing was fixed and they charged $265 for a ""Diagnostic"" fee... Called another plumber, replaced my faucet I bought at Lowes for $129 and snaked the pipe in the basement and charged $125! Everything is fixed now
Utter rip-off artists IMHO
$575 for a 45 min gas leak repair
Plus 1 of the guys took a crap in our ladies room on the clock
Then...challenged Sean (scheduler) about a $350-$450 estimate for a backflow preventer test
Said that is average
Really
Had Lakewood mechanical do it for $105...took 15 min
WTF...are you kidding!!
Never again...and you shouldn't either
Not only was the contractor deceptive in his practices (seizing back the written ""quote"" when he decided to arbitrarily increase the price by more than 50%), he also overcharged for the work by a factor of 10. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Read Tina B.'s review. Use anyone else.
Our drain in the driveway from storm water was not draining properly. Since it's a shared line with our neighbor, the neighbor and I jointly called Mark Allen Plumbing to have it cleaned with a water jet and have a camera to determine what, if any, problem exists.
Jesse came promptly and performed the duty of the hydro cleaning. He was prompt, polite and professional. He explained the process and answered questions and worked very hard to clean the drain. Once finished, he told us the camera was not on his truck and another person would come to do that portion in a few minutes. We were very pleased at this point with our experience at Mark Allen Plumbing and especially with Jesse's services.
As promised, the gentleman with the camera appeared literally 5 minutes later. He introduced himself as Shawn and said he would use the camera. From the moment he emerged the truck to greet us, he appeared annoyed to be there. He began by feeling the grass around the property with his foot, then asked us to remove the downspout so he could put the camera in. We thought it odd at first that he asked us to remove the downspout, but we obliged. Next, he proceeded to put the camera in and told us he couldn't see anything. He then apprehensively tried the other drain to get a better look. He wasn't very keen on having to get on the ground to reach this drain. After a few moments he again said he could see nothing. When the camera emerged in was clean, not covered in mud, debris or anything else that would lead us to believe nothing would be visible. Shawn then proceeded to tell us that we had a problem, but could not tell us what the problem was. He explained we would need to have the ground dig out 5' deep to figure out what the problem was. Obviously, we had many questions for Shawn to better understand what the problem was and why the camera couldn't tell us anything. He was unable to give us answers to any of the questions, only to repeat we'd have to have the land dug up. Shawn became more agitated and then told us that what we paid for the service was incorrect, and that the camera is free not a paid service. He then proceeded to tell us he'd refund our money since he couldn't answer our questions And we were upset at this point by the lack of answers to our questions. Shawn was unprofessional, agitated, and lacked the knowledge needed to perform his job. We didn't ask to have our money refunded. We received A service and expected to pay for it, but we also expected to have a diagnostic of the problem and did not receive that.
We started the day praising the efforts of Jesse and his company, but that quickly waned when Shawn began his job. By the time Shawn left, we felt certain that we were a victim of bait and switch as he was trying to upset us to much more extensive work in digging up our properties. If this is the business model that Mark Allen uses it is unfortunate and disgraceful. We called after Shawn left to speak to the owner, but were only told the owner would be relayed our message.
Beware of this company and their up sell/bait and switch strategies. We will not use this company again.
I called these guys when my AC kicked on but no cold air was flowing out. This thing has had little patch repairs in the past but it was out of refrigerant. Filling this old rust bucket back up seems like something that would not last leading towards more cash in the long run.
John suggested a new unit which I was definitely on board for. Only a couple days later his crew came out and took care of removal of old and install of new. This new thing is pumping like a champ. Definitely a good experience overall.
