9pm last night - UH OH! nothing flushed, nothing drained and tub was backing up with sewage (YUCK). Immediately went to Yelp and found Marin Roto-Rooter and 3 other plumbers and 'messaged' all 3 via Yelp with a desperate plea for help first thing this morning.

10pm last night Roto-Rooter returned my text saying they could be here in the morning and I'd get a follow up call in the a.m.

7am got a call from Jen saying they could have someone here asap - yippee!

8am John arrived, diagnosed the problem and told me how much it would cost (not cheap but when sewage is backing up in your house, cheap is relative!)

9:15 John & his teammate are wrapped up. Problem is solved, everything flushes, drains, etc. Price was exactly as estimated!

You know what hasn't happened? A text back from either of the other ""5 star"" rooters in Marin on Yelp!

Would (and will) call or text them again in a heartbeat. FANTASTIC customer service from beginning to end (and John was fun to chat with too!)

Used them years ago because a couple of their plumbers were really good, so I ignored having to deal with the woman owner who answered the phone and did the scheduling. Think her name is Mindy. She's rude and unprofessional and lacks what it takes in working with the public. When her 2 good plumbers left, I stopped using them. I've heard that they lost a lot of customers because of her, and I know for a fact they lost 2 good plumbers because they couldn't tolerate her either.

My plumbing was backing up and sewage was spewing into my bathtub. How wonderful. We had a home warranty so we made a claim and they sent out their plumber. Not our choice; totally theirs.

Their plumber said the fix wasn't covered under warranty and that it would cost $12,000 to replace the sewer lateral which was needed to repair our back up.

I called Roto Rooter in Novato, who had done a plumbing inspection just before we bought the house a few months back and declared that everything was fine, to scream at them for having missed something so obvious and expensive.

They sent a rep back to the house and was able to prove that the home warranty plumbing outfit was a bunch of crooks and they proceeded to repair the back up for a couple of hundred dollars, all covered by the now very embarrassed home warranty company.

I felt bad for screaming at them, and was very grateful they got us out of this stinking (literally) mess quickly and cheaply.

I highly recommend them.

I had a very good experience Roto Rooter, after having a very negative one with Peter Levy Plumbing to get a sewer line cleared. Roto-Rooter came out quickly, gave a straight forward estimate based on labor time and material cost, did the job quickly and effectively, and made a solid effort to not make a mess while completing the work. They did a significantly better job than the last plumber at half the cost. Whenever I called a plumber in the past, I pretty much expected to get jerked around, but now I don't have to anymore.

Roto Rooter did such a wonderful job on our lateral sewer line replacement! They had all their own equipment and very efficiently replaced our ancient sewer line using the ""trenchless"" method. They made a tricky operation look easy even with an old trap, a sag in the line, tree roots, old repairs and other issues. And the guys who did the work really knew what they were doing and were also very respectful, cleaning up at the end of each day. They also worked well with Ross Valley Sanitary to get approval before and after and obviously have their respect. For us, this was a big problem and in less than 3 days it was perfectly solved. We got other bids. This was just a bit more than the cheapest but included a 20-year guarantee and they got the permit from RVSD. We are so very glad we went with this outfit. Theirs was a very professional and expert, team effort. We feel really lucky we found them.

i was charged $377 to fix a minor problem
it was not improved in the slightest & when i asked them to look at it again all i got was a ""proposal"" to charge nearly $800 to fix it again

i suspect these other reviews are set ups

I've used Roto Rooter on Olive Ave for both my home and my business. I have always been completely satisfied. They are prompt and efficient. They always seem to go out of they're way to accommodate. I have recommended them to my family and friends and they too, are happy customers. It's nice to call a company and they do what they say they are going to do.

I called Roto Rooter when two previous plumbers could not clear a clog in my tenant's kitchen sink. Tina in the office was very friendly and professional. The technician showed up promptly at the set time and cleared the clog with no problem. Roto Rooter also had a $40 coupon online! I had previously called Rescue Rooter who was not able to clear the clog. Plus Rescue Rooter's price was more than twice as much as Roto Rooter's! I highly recommend Roto Rooter for all your plumbing needs.

I used Roto Rooter last month when my drain was clogged in my bathroom. I had tried snakes and could not get the pipe unclogged. Mike arrived the same afternoon I called and was able to fix it in no time. He even found my roommate's missing earring that had been MIA for awhile! They were reasonably priced and very trustworthy. I left him alone in my house and felt completely comfortable with their integrity and service. I would definitely recommend them again and will not hesitate to hire them back next time I have any plumbing issues.

I called Roto Rooter with some trepidation because they had a poor reputation where I used to live, but friends recommended them, so yesterday when we had a backed-up sewer, I did. And I was very glad I did. John, who was very nice, smart, and good-natured, made every effort to solve my problem in the most economical way. He succeeded in getting some drainage going, despite the fact that we seem to have paved over our sewer clean-out -- therefore the job is not yet finished. But once we've done the unpaving, we'll have Roto Rooter back for the final fix. (Word to the wise: find out where your clean-out is before paving.)
