In a re-model with open walls, Mallard did the complete rough-in for a washing machine, laundry sink, kitchen sink, bath vanity and tub. They cut into the cast iron plumbing stack at no cost because the installer said there would be too many units on one line. I started to nail gun in the blocking to hang the sewer under the house, they said no need, they would do that...Excellent work-done in less than a day.

Got a new Toto toilet installed by Ben this week. How long do you flush the handle on a low flow toilet? If you do it immediately it chokes and gurgles so I hold it down 2 secs? Too long?

Anyway even if I don't understand the care and feeding of it, I still love it. Ben did a great job preparing me for disaster pretoilet removal. Ouch! I feel it. Old homes are money pits. Yeah those cheap home remodelers put in a new floor on top of the old one so the throne now sits on rotting flanges. It will require a whole new remodel to pull out the old floor, replace the pipes, install new plumbing. But that gives us something to look forward to once we repair the damage $$ from this repair. We can look forward to another Noah's flood god knows when in the mean time. Good times!

Ben knew his stuff and kept the repairs up to the original estimate. Whew! Dodged a bullet. Ugly mold in the subflooring due to the last flood though. Boy is that ugly.

New Toto works like a charm. Only thing is you have to get to it in time.

These guys are the best ... and I am not one to give praise easily. I had a clogged main waste line going out from the side of my house toward the city sewer line. If you don't know what I am talking about, believe me, this is nasty. A guy from another company came and charged me a couple of hundred dollars to basically tell me he needed to start digging right away and replace the line at a cost of about four thousand dollars. When the guys from Mallard came the next morning (by then the whole family had used the bathroom and showered at the Y for the past four days), I was not in a happy mood and quite desperate. I appreciated tremendously that they did not take advantage of the situation. They were professional, courteous, patient and ready to present me with all my options. Manuel and his brother made it clear that digging and replacing the line was the worst case scenario. They spent time (in spite of their busy work schedule and my repetitive questioning) going over the step-by-step actions we could take before the drastic act of replacing the line. And for each step, they gave me a clear understanding of the time and the cost involved. In other words, they made me feel in control and educated (the total opposite of the guy from the other company). End of the story is that they were able to unclogged the line after working on it for a few hours using a camera, a heavy-duty snake (there were tree roots growing inside the pipe) and a high-power water jet. Not cheap but no digging either. For the money, you won't find better service.

Have used Mallard Plumbing on three different occasions to install a toilet, reconfigure outside hose bibs, and most recently to do a sewer line clean out. The work performed has always been very professional. They show up promptly at the appointed time and complete the work satisfactorily. Prices a very reasonable.

I have used Mallard for several jobs-not all easy I might add around my fourplex. My building is over 100 years old and is in need of plenty of TLC. Manuel has overseen most if not all of the 3 jobs done here and has ALWAYS stood behind his work. He is honest and fair not to mentioned extremely knowledgeable. My jobs have ranged from a mysterious leak on my 3 parcel lot, plumbing and replacing lots of galvanized pipe with copper, to leaks and water heater replacement. In the case of the water heater the product was flawed and dealing with AO Smith was a nightmare. In fact, the manufacture should have been the one to contract services to repair it...what a nightmare that proved to be. Manuel offered to come out and fix the issue without hesitation he is that kind of guy running that kind of business. The office staff is responsive and efficient. Manuel also take the time to ensure you realize the issue and gives you the piece of mind you want in knowing how and why things are done. I know that with this old house that sooner rather than later will need to call a plumber for something-it will be Mallard-Call them you wont be sorry you did.

We got a free estimate on some plumbing work. Manuel seemed really knowledgeable. However his pricing was really high compared to other quotes received. And communication and getting a response via email was glacial.

We have used Mallard several times, mostly Matt. He does a great job and thorough - fixing leaky faucets; low water pressure in our shower; installing two pressure reducers in an older house with older fixtures. Highly recommend.

Matt did some good work for me putting in new pipes in the kitchen, installing a toilet and fixing a faucet.

The Problem: Matt said the faucet was worth fixing and I paid him to do an overhaul. Six months later the faucet is leaking and I called the office to get Matt to come fix it. I didn't want to pay for this small fix because Matt said it was a good faucet and worth fixing. After a long back and forth, where Manuel said he would call me via his receptionist and never did, Manuel said I'd have to pay. Via his receptionist he said that because Mallard hadn't provided the faucet it wasn't their fault it was leaking.

EXCUSE ME? I paid for your expert opinion and I paid you to fix it based on that opinion. Your assessment was wrong, you should do the small fix.

Ridiculous. I'll patronize a business with a better work ethic.

I hired Mallard to fix a leaky kitchen sink and then added a new hot water heater to the job. After three times out, they still couldn't repair the sink, because similarly to another review, they didn't know where to get the replacement washers. They also didn't know how to turn the temperature down on my new hot water heater - I've tried lowering it several times, but it always kicks back up to the hottest (scalding) level.

Otherwise, they are very professional on the phone and in person. The plumbers they send out aren't to the same standard as they used to be (I've used them for almost 20 years).

Manuel is fantastic! Very responsive & always answers the phone when I call. He has done several jobs for me (replaced a water heater, fixed drain lines, moved plumbing in a bathroom), and all jobs were completed quickly with no issues. Good prices and clean work.
