I have reviewed Mako once since our original remodel. But I felt compelled to review again, after the recent rains left inches of water in our unfinished portion of the remodel. When we originally contracted Mako they agreed to grate the backyard to eliminate any water coming into the basement. This job was not done. When we notified Steve the owner of the recent water he came to look and offered us a quote to grate the yard (which we already paid them for ). We have many unfinished jobs left in our home due to their poor work ethic and have resulted in taking them to small claims court to regroup funds to pay another contractor to fix the issues. This was the worst experience ever. We hired them July 2017 and are still dealing with it. Don't hire Mako!

This is not the place to go to for any type of construction or home-improvement they don't follow through, they're very slow , I do not recommend them at all. They seem very sincere in the beginning but is soon as you want them to complete the job they have all kinds of excuses not to and they're also arrogant and rude.

Don't waste your time with this contractor. As a first time home buyer, I was not familiar with any contractors in the area and Mako was recommended by my realtor for my renovation. I wish I had the ability to go back because I NEVER would have used Mako or Steven Moore Jr as my contractor had I known the work would be late, incomplete and, overpriced. How the work passed inspection is beyond me. Mako takes advantage of the lending process and the fact that you are at their mercy once you agree to work with them. Steven blamed me for the mortgage company not inviting him to closing and said that the completion date ""is out the window"" because the first disbursal was ""late"". This first disbursal was hand delivered by yours truly only a week after closing. the earliest I could have possibly gotten it to them. You would think that if the payment is a week late that the work would naturally only be a week later than originally expected. Not with Mako! I was on my honeymoon while the renovations were to be taking place. I come back to fine NOTHING had been done except my toilets were completely gone. (toilets were not part of my renovation) My completion date was quoted on the day before I LEFT for my honeymoon. Now, my move in process had been severely delayed and all they said was that it was because payment was late and that the completion date was no longer valid. I was never provided a new completion date and I was having to continue to pay for electric, water, and gas while they were supposed to be in working on the renovation. about 2 weeks later I come in to find new toilets which I did not buy nor did I approve to be purchased or installed. if you think I am done, I am just getting started. Part of my renovation was new flooring. when the floor was finally installed, the trim that was around the house was all in the basement and not re-installed. I contacted Steven and asked if they planned on putting that back on and he said that he can do that. I thought, ""Wow, maybe He is finally doing something for me"". I was wrong. I was charged over $150 just for the trim to be re-installed! when I asked him about it and tried to dispute this he said that normally floors can be installed without removing trim and that he had to pay someone to remove it and re-install it. If my house was 2500 sq ft then maybe this would have been an understandable fee but this is a townhouse with a little over 1000 sq ft of living space. and it was only the first floor that needed removed! But wait! there's more! I had selected a natural gas water heater to be installed. This water heater selection was given to Steven over a month before the renovation started. On the day it was being installed I get a call from Steven and he says to me that they went to install it and they couldn't because it needs to be vented through a chimney. Wow, thanks Steven for telling me that 2 months ago so I could choose something else. Instead, I get this call, after everything is already installed, stating that he took that one back and got one that WOULD work for my house. Rather than asking me what I wanted to be installed, or giving me options, Steven took it upon himself to choose for me. A water heater that was $1300 MORE than the one that I had originally chosen. Steven knew that I had contingency funds and he exploited every cent and more! after everything was all said and done, I ended up paying an additional $250 out of pocket when there were over $3000 in contingency. I made the mistake of asking for a breakdown of costs and he freaks out and threatens to put a lien on my house if I don't pay. NEVER use this company!! I wouldn't use them again even if they were the only company left on earth!

I wish Mako was reviewed before I hired them in the fall of '16 to finish my basement and remodel my bath. Total @ssclowns. I found them through Lowe's Porch.com site. Think they'd screen contractors 1st. I had all the same problems others here are reporting. The project manager quit 1 week into the job. They used nothing but subs even though I was told otherwise. Drywallers did a terrible job. I ended up kicking them out at week 8 of what was quoted as a 6 week job, and that was only the basement. They never touched the bathroom. Beware of the lowball price. You'll get what you pay for, if they even finish the job.
