T G.Called to schedule them to inspect our boiler and possibly purge any air bubbles or clean out sediment after having our well replaced & sediment got into the system before we were able to have a filtration system installed, but they didn't have anyone available to come out for about a week. Appointment time offered was for 8am, the first available and the first appt for that day and that tech. The woman who answered the phone there was very pleasant and helpful, and said she would be sure to note that they had inspected/serviced boiler in the past under the old homeowners. She also called us the day before to confirm 8am appointment time the next day.
On scheduled date, tech didn't arrive until a little after 830am. We fully understand that much can affect arrival times, like getting stuck behind a traffic jam or poor road conditions in the wintertime, but usually a call is made to let the customer know they're running late. Tech spent a couple minutes looking at boiler and said the air bubbles in the system and any sediment in the pipes would 'work themselves out' and everything would be fine. Asked about patina and scale on the copper pipe because it was getting worse and a leak was suspected. Tech didn't actually physically inspect any of the suspected pipe or valve connections, but assured me that this was normal, patina (on this pipe only) was due to age not a leak, and heat wouldn't work if there was even a small leak anywhere in the system. When I asked again if he was sure and it was fine if he needed to open or close any of the valves or shut the system down for a moment to check and make sure, he said it wasn't necessary and if there was a problem like a leak we wouldn't have heat. We then discussed replacing the hot water tank due to its age and likely sediment level inside, and tech said he would put in a request for quotes on replacing the tank with a newer model, replacing the tank with a water heater instead, and replacing the tank with an on-demand water heater system (it's been about two weeks since appointment but no quotes received via phone, email, or regular mail.). Tech was here maybe 15 minutes tops before he left, and part of that was spent writing up service ticket and several minutes spent discussing water heater options. He was nice though a little patronizing-ish when answering my questions.
Today my husband ended up calling to ask if someone could come out when a major leak developed on the same green scale crusted pipe from the crusty pressure valve at the top, and which the tech had stated was perfectly fine. When told no one could come out today, he asked if the owner could call him back. He spoke with the owner, and owner said they can't guarantee that their techs will arrive at stated appointment time due to outside factors like traffic or jobs running long. That's fine and totally understandable, but again a notification call is usually made to let the customer know as a courtesy. As for the leak, we were told there was no way the tech could have known a big leak would happen because the tech can't see the future. True, but he could (and should) have at least physically inspected the valves and pipes when asked the second time if he was absolutely sure there were no issues or even a small, slow leak which could cause problems in the future. In hindsight, I guess should have argued and demanded him to actually physically inspect the areas of concern rather than a quick touch to see if pipe was dry and simply looking at valves/seals/pipe joints, but I trusted his judgement and we got burned. On the phone, the owner was immeditely very defensive and kept saying an appointment with them wasn't like an appointment at a doctor's office where things are on time. When my husband mentioned he was also a little upset about being charged $150 for such a short amount of time by the tech on-site as well as the lackluster inspection and failure to actually hands-on inspect the system the tech was scheduled to inspect, the call degraded and my husband ended up hanging up.
Ended up going with another company to fix the leaking pressure blowoff since we couldn't go days without any heat in the house.
In the end, office staff is great, but can't recommend for thorough inspections, quotes, or follow-up repairs.
Stephanie S.They installed boilers for us at 2 separate properties in Middletown. Excellent service from the work to the office. I find Mike the owner to be very trustworthy and would recommend.
