Hi, Dilemma Sewer Line Clog-Back-up

A Learning Experience and a scary horrible night's sleep via Roto-Rooter. From a previous use, they knew I likely had some roots-to-grind. Upon (late) Arrival, contract signing & payment of $502. Their guy used a one size fits all auger. Did not resolve the clog but knew upfront why they were called from the prior visit. The auger guy gave it two tries & left indicating I had roots (really ...shocker!) & possibly a broken pipe. So, the sales guy shows-up indicating the auger teeth diameter would only grind that pipe area & once the auger was retracted the remaining tissue would again block the pipe. What??? So they left with a DO NOTHING $500. Except to: provide a quote to dig & fix ""where they assumed"" there were roots for $7k. I was also informed the entire line may need replacement with a guess-ta-mate of $12-14K. Oh and the Kicker was ""Do Not Use ANY water"" until ... meaning my family should move elsewhere...! SCARE Tactics !

***USE MAINLINE DRAINS***: I obtained Lloyd's contact information through two seasoned real estate agent's excellent reviews. So the following morning, after describing my issue & money (down the stopped-up drain), Lloyd was HERE within the hour. Not only did he use a camera, he had the equipment ON SITE to clear the sewer line. He used a powerful PSI water blaster, a camera, and different sizes of auger teeth & fittings. Important to say, not only did he check, re-check, & RE-CHECK again, Lloyd did not charge MORE money. I even offered but he declined.
Through this Third Generation Plumber's professionalism & honesty, he was able to locate & CLEAR the root problem ""blockage"". To my glee, he indicated the problem was on the city easement nearest the street. Meaning the blockage was defined to a specific area beyond where I am "" NOT "" responsible for the cure, $$$. So, he could have been a scammer like the above Nightmare. Instead, my cleared sewer line will give me the time I need to get the city out here to fix THEIR ISSUE on their dime, NOT mine.
