John S.My father called Scott because of a notice left by city. Scott inspected the sewer line and assured my father that no work needed to be done. I appreciate Scott's honesty and highly recommend him.
Replaced lead water main with new 1 inch copper line and installed DEP required outside shutoff valve. Competitive price for premium service. Arrived on time with major equipment, worked diligently completed work early enough they had to wait for inspector to arrive. Without water only a couple of hours. Neatly patched concrete and left work area cleaner than they found it. Workers were undemanding and friendly. Excellent communication with master plumber Scott begging to end.
Great job!
Searched online for main line water service. Found Scott's company. Best choice made! Needed a sprinkler shut off cap in front of building according to FDNY code. Scott's guy came, broke up the sidewalk, and was done within a couple of hours. Patched up the sidewalk, and cap was perfectly installed. No more FDNY violation!
Kudos to Scott and crew. Will use again and recommend.
I had an sewer emergency. Called this company to get an estimate. Before I could even explain the issue, the person said, ""what's your address?"" I gave my location as the Bronx.
The response was, ""I'm busy, no time for the Bronx.""
I was really shocked, my only response was... that was not very professional.
Brooklyn H.I own a 110 year-old house in Brooklyn. I have lived here for 33 years.
Our clay sewer pipes are as old as the house and we were tired of late night sewer clog emergencies. So, after 33 years of procrastination, we decided to do the big-dig and have our main sewer line replaced.
In Brooklyn, I found two companies that specialize in Sewer Main replacement I selected Main Man Water Works because they had a higher yelp rating than the other company and my next door neighbor had good results when they used Main Man Water Works to replace their sewer main. We called Scott, Main Man's master plumber, scheduled an estimate the same week, and started the work by the following week.
The sewer main replacement took two days, from start to finish. They were able to tunnel under our front steps and front porch so both survived the ordeal undamaged. (Hip, hip hurray!!) The new sewer line was installed and working on the first day. On the second day, the job was finished, including hooking up an active storm drain into the sewer line (somehow skipped on the first day), replacing the cement walkway, and replacing a small section of cement floor that had to be removed in the basement near the pipe traps.
For the main job, the installation of the sewer-main, they know their stuff inside-and-out, and that part was worry-free. The second day was also ok, but we had to ask them correct a few of the finishing details.
For clarity, here are the finishing details we had ask them to correct. We had to ask them to spend more time tamping (packing down) the filled soil. Extra tamping takes more time & delays pouring the cement walkway, but reduces the risk of a sinking, sagging walkway in a few years. When pouring the cement, they initially left out the expansion joints and we had to ask them to add expansion joints (heavy felt strips) in the cement in order to reduce risk of future cracking. Finally, when restoring the pit for the sewer trap, they were initially going to make the pit twice as large. At our request, they moved the wood backer-boards before pouring the cement and restored the pit to approximately the original size.
In summary, their work is very good, but be prepared to oversee and correct some of the finishing details near the end of the job.
I am so glad that after researching several companies and asking around, I decided to call Scott from Main Man. Our main water pipe broke and water was leaking from the walls into the basement. It got worse and fast. Luckily we redirected the flood of water coming in towards the sewer basin or else we would be flooding. Stressing out, the whole family was digging dirt from the crawl space and moping the basement floor. It was labor intensive and a highly stressful time for us.
I called Scott on Sunday. Send him pictures and videos over the phone. He came Monday, and he came earlier to assess the situation and gave me a quote. He really is a nice and supportive business owner towards his customers. He was professional and always texted me when his crew was coming and what's the next step. He took care of all the permit and advised us from day one. I am very grateful.
The crew was wonderful. Everday, six of them came. They were punctual, clean, and worked so hard. Special shoutout to David and Juan (professional, attentive, and courteous). They showed me I can trust them and the integrity of their work. They were meticulous of the repair and of other resident's property. When they leave, the worksite is neat and guarded until they return next day. They even helped me push my car parked in front of my house into the driveway when the battery died so they can dig in that spot. Day one, they found the broken lead pipe and stopped the water from coming into my basement. There were a lot of tree roots underneath the property/foundation. Day two, they took the lead pipe and installed copper pipes and fixed everything. Day three, they finished the road and sidewalk. They were also kind enough to pour cement over the hole we made on the porch. Not only do they get the job done, they go beyond to help you as much as they can. They were diligent and professional. Thank you Scott and the Main Man crew.
We get many requests for sewer issues in the area, and I've struggled finding the right person/company to work with until I finally found Scott. He was knowledgeable, honest, and competitively priced. It's a nice feeling to finally have someone that I not only can call to fix any sewer problems in the Brooklyn area, but also will feel educated on the issue, and confident I am making the right decision. Thanks for everything Scott.
Crystal P.Adam, Adam, Adam, THANK YOU!!! We got one of those mean 3day notices from the DEP and did not know what to do. They were able to match a lower price we received from another company and get to work so fast. We just had our street done within the year and the water line was across the street. He explained everything in detail and the how's and why to everything. Very transparent and honest, and we would do business with them again (hopefully we wont have too, but Incase we do have too). Thank you again!
My problem was low pressure in my entire house. 5 minutes into my conversation with Scott, I immediately knew I was going to give him the job. I'm an engineer and very methodical and did my legwork and spoke to 5 or 6 other contractors asking every question you could image before I spoke to Main main. Each contractor give me a piece of the explanation with no clear plan or explanation that I and was looking for. Scott gave met the entire outline and painted my scenarios while being extremely detailed. I could tell he was very very experienced - no bull.
Scott came in with a professional and courteous team. They made sure they covered all the bases from making sure the street was free where they needed to dig to cleaning up and sealing the street extremely professionally. My water pressure was so strong afterwards that I've never had such good pressure for 25 years! They made sure they carefully worked and walked in my basement as it was a finished basement. What I thought was going to be a painful job, turned out to be so seamless and painless. My issue was a dirty city tap. Main man cleaned it out with a special threading tool and tested the pressure several times afterwards before reconnection. They made sure to show me the difference of the pressure before and after. Scott is a pleasure to contract out.
Bettco F.We received a 3-day notice from DEP on a Sunday. I contacted Main Man immediately on Monday morning and spoke directly with the owner, Scott. He was extremely responsive and provided an estimate right away. His estimate was reasonable and competitive. He was on the job by Wednesday and even saved us money by honestly advising us that our line was fine and it was just a faulty connection which was causing the leak. Scott was also very fair with payment terms -- he required a lower deposit than other companies and didn't require final payment until the street was repaired. Other companies require large deposits before even showing up and demand final payment when just the plumbing work is done -- that's unsettling for a property owner who wants to make sure the street is sealed to obtain NYC sign off. I would recommend Scott to all. Great work! (I even offered Scott a discount on furniture for his home since he was such a stand up guy).
