Mahoney plumbing bills for Ravinia heating and plumbing. They re-lit the pilot light on my tenant's hot water heater. I called at 3:30 pm and they arrived at 9:30 pm. They said there was a $140 service charge and would call if anything else was required. They said they would mail me a bill. They did neither. My credit card was charged by Mahoney Plumbing. I called them and they said they would rectify the problem. They never called again. I called Ravania and they did nothing. Terrible company without integrity. Do not trust this company. Do not use them!

I have never felt so over charged as I have from having Mahoney Plumbing fix a leak in our Kohler spa tub. It took 2 visits and ended up costing $298.65 for a part that took less than 5 minutes to install and cost about $8 from Kohler. I know because I called to see if they still carried the part.

If you think $214.00 is reasonable for the 1/2 hour it took to rod out a sink drain, then I highly recommend Mahoney

It is recommended that you get familiar with the ""Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act,"" which is clearly written and easily understood.
Just do a search (google or other) on the name. Well worth your time.

I had used Mahoney in the past so called them when I wanted a new kitchen faucet installed. They had a plumber out to me within a couple of hours after I called them.
The plumber told me it was going to be over $400 to install the faucet, based on an ""average"" cost of installing a faucet on the north shore! It is a new pricing tool they are using. instead of charging by the hour as they used to do, they now use a book that tells you the ""average"" cost of work and price based on that. When I said no thank you, I was told I was going to have to pay a $65 fee for them to come out. (None of this was not explained when I called to have them come out. )
I did call the person that sends out the plumbers, she did waive the initial fee.
When I called another plumber (that also came out immediately) the cost to have the faucet installed was $175!!

Ive also had a terrific experience with Mahoney Plumbing. When my hot water heater went out I called them and they came out to help me right away. They came over accessed that it was in fact my water heater had gone out and them promptly drained it and put a new one in. I was able to take a hot shower later that night.... So glad they were there to my rescue!!

We are renting a 1960's house in Highland Park. The landlord was unresponsive to my request to fix the leaky faucets and a running toilet so I thought to call a plumber myself. How much time can it take for a professional plumber to replace some washers?

We called Mahoney because it is a local business with good yelp reviews. We explained the problem to the plumber. The plumber walked around and gave us a verbal estimate of $200-$300 each to fix the leaky sink faucets and $400-$500 to fix the leaky shower faucet. The plumber then told us about $200 to fix the toilet. The toilet is a Toto and has a few unusual parts in it, so I thought $200 to fix the toilet would save me a few trips to the hardware store to pick up the correct parts. We said no to the faucet repair without prior approval of the landlord.

The receipt description states ""master bath Toto toilet runs replace Toto flapper."" The toilet still runs. The flapper still gets tangled in the chain. The jet thing still spurts water. And I'm out $217.

My receipt for $217 only states $217 at the bottom. There is no itemization of parts or labor, just a flat $217 to pay. The flapper is a nice bright blue, unlike the worn and faded replaced flapper. I'm sure that I could have replaced that flapper myself for around $10. But I would probably still be in the same situation with a running toilet.

I had Dan out to address an issue with my faucet in my older home. He was efficient, friendly, and helpful. He was also kind enough to explain some of the other quirks of my new old house, and tell me what to watch out for when the ancient pipes and fixtures inevitably start failing.

I had been a customer of Mahoney Plumbing for at least 15-20 years. While Mahoney's charges might have been more expensive than other I always relied upon its honesty and workmanship. Until recently. About 2 years ago a water line burst and caused extensive flooding and damage. Mahoney did the repair and I paid for it. Last year it happened again at the same point in the water line. That line goes from the interior mechanical room through the walls and ceiling to the outside water faucet. I called Mahoney. An inspection was done and Mahoney verified that it was the same problem that re-occurred and referred it to its insurance company for payment. Mahoney's insurance carrier refused to pay for the repair and Mahoney refused to pay as well. Thus, I was forced to pay approximately $1,200 to again repair the water line. I'm still shocked that this merchant/service provider is not a man of his word and refuses to stand by his product.

I have not used Mahoney since that time and have not filed a lawsuit. But now I've just had my heating system inspected. That was also maintained by Mahoney - or at least I thought it was. The heating system now needs to be replaced but i really don't know if Mahoney was at fault for improper cleaning and inspection as the new company suggests. But, i have to replace the water heater because of the way in which it was installed and not properly maintained by Mahoney. There is actually duct tape attempting to secure the water lines for the heater together with rust and dirt accumulation that I had previously pointed out to Mr. Mahoney - not Tom Mahoney who has his own plumbing business having left his brother some time ago. Mr. Mahoney was asked about the duct tape and the rust about a year ago and he said that he'd repair it because some of the parts his company used were failing with many of his customers. He stated that he had purchased cheaper parts and that they were not suitable. Nice of him to tell me that long after the work was done.and paid for. I wonder if a got a cheaper price on the first go 'round.

The years of trust and service have proved to be of no value in the end. What a shame. No longer will I be a customer of Mahoney. Beware!

I've had a few plumbers come by my house for one thing or another. NOT one was able to asses the issues in the most productive way. Further, the fees I paid, were out of this world to fix some basic items.

I found Mahoney through my cities Chamber of Commerce, and was taken back by the professionalism, and the honestly of their work. They assessed exactly what the issue was, and how to fix it!

They certainly won my business based on the people, and the work they do.
