Matt E.I had a clog in my sink and wasn't from the area so I needed to get someone out here fast. I took to Yelp project and one of the options was MacCo Services and boy am I lucky it was them. They responded quickly, were able to get someone out to meet me really quick and they did an awesome job. The sink was cleared and I haven't had an issue since.
Couldn't have asked for better service and or better value! Saved me both time and money.
My garbage disposal got clogged: the machine was working but the content of the disposal, ground, did not move through. I disconnected the plumbing coming off the disposal and found that water that I inserted from above would came out easily. Therefore, I thought there must have been a clogged pipe downstream, which was unaccessible to me. I called MACCO and described what I just wrote here; they gave me an appointment for ONE WEEK later. They also told me that I would have to pay $ 320 minimum, regardless of how short or long the job was going to be. When the plumber came he spent a good amount of time doing the same thing that I had done, and told me that he could not fix the problem and I needed a ""drain guy"". He even called his dispatcher (same person I had talked to, who confirmed that they do not do that type of work.
I then called their office and said that I did not feel fair to charge me because they should have said right away that they could not do the job. The person on the phone just continued to repeat that ""I had accepted in advance to pay"" and that I had not told him that there was a clogged drain, which ridiculous because I knew that it was not a leak and that I had told him that I thought there was probably some obstruction downstream. I even offered to meet in between with the charge because I understood the man who came had spent some work time, but there was no chance. Eventually I paid.
I later called a ""drain company"", they came the next day and in 15 minutes they got the job done, for $ 149.
I clearly will not use MACCO again and I would never recommend them to anyone, and I told them the same.
I made an appointment with MacCo for the annual servicing of my ac and heating units. The person who answered the phone, Victor, explained that the price was the same as the previous year, but if I chose to pay by credit card there would be a 5% surcharge. I was told that I could choose to pay by cash or check instead to avoid the 5% surcharge. I was also told by Victor that he would confirm the appointment by phone the day before. On the day of the appointment, I never heard from Victor so I called the office to confirm. Victor was rather snippy and claimed he called me the day before, but my phone was busy. He could've emailed me, texted me or tried calling again, but he did none of those things. Also, he said if I looked out my window I would see the plumber's truck in the parking lot. Guess what? My condo is in the back and doesn't face the parking lot! In any event, the servicing of my ac and heating units was done satisfactorily and the plumber was far more pleasant than Victor. I'm not sure if Victor was having a bad day or if he's always confrontational with customers when things don't go smoothly, but the fact is, when anyone works in a customer facing role, they need to act politely and professionally at all times.
I had a flood from my AC unit. MacCO had serviced my unit for several years and then found out they did not actually service my unit- which resulted in permanent damage and a cracked drain pan. The flood seeped through my wall and into the hall and damaged my hardwood floors. When I called them, they were rude and unpleasant. Probably because I am a female. When I asked the person they sent out, what should I do, the reply was ""not my problem"", they were not help at all. I had two other companies look at my unit, they both said same thing. When MacCo replaced the coil, the person just dropped it in, never secured it, which resulted in the drain pan cracking and the resulting flood. I have since spoken with other people in my building, they all say the same things - MacCo service people are rude and do not care and take advantage of people who do not understand their AC systems.
We hired Macco as they had the soonest available appointment. Their technician showed up well before the appointment time without warning, which meant he literally woke us up. Additionally, he did not wear a mask and made several political comments about masks and the environment. We were willing to forgive all of this and even be happy with the slightly higher hourly price than other professionals given the timeline; however, the technician claimed the system needed a new part. He ordered it, said it would come in within a few days and he would be back. It's been nearly a month and no action or update. I've contacted Macco via email several times and have had no response and tried calling but the line didn't go through.
TLDR: showed up at wrong time, didn't solve issue, charged more, unprofessional technician, and poor customer service.
Fantastic service! They went above and beyond to fix an issue I had installing a smart thermostat. Rick was especially available, responsive and respectful.
They came, they saw, they serviced!
We wanted a basic boiler service and a basic HVAC service. I reached out on Monday and by Thursday they were here. Robert came and he was friendly and helpful. He had a nice demeanor and we would certainly hire him again to come.
I had MacCo come out today to adjust my on-demand tankless hot water system. Ryan the tech was excellent. It was clear he knew what he was talking about, and he had the problem solved in a few minutes. After working on the main unit, he checked the water temperatures in all the faucets (two bathrooms, two showers, kitchen sink) and made adjustments until they were right. I asked Ryan a lot of questions, and he answered them all confidently, politely, and demonstrated his knowledge of the system. This kind of hot water system is new to me and now I know exactly how it works thanks to Ryan.
I have been using MAACO for about 4 years for water heater maintenance, just because of convenience. Their service really fluctuates. Each year, a different service guy would come and do different things. One year, a service guy was very detailed and really inspected the water heater and checked water temperature. Others just did the minimum, which was flushing the water heater. Additionally, MAACO usually gives customers a 2-hour service window, which means that the service guy may show up at anytime during the 2-hour. However, their service guys never stick to that window. One time, a 2-hour service window became a 4-hour window.
Service mgr Chris was very helpful and his service plumbing technician Ryan was excellent and professional on my hot water heaters.
Will use again.
