Our main line clogged up Saturday, 10/10/2020. I knew it would probably cost more due to weekend service. I called around noon and was told that they would have someone here between 2 and 5. The
technician showed up after 7:00 pm. He had not eaten anything and had
a headache he said. To snake my main line you have to go through a
toilet. OK. The bill was $412.95. I paid it. On Wednesday morning the
drain backed up again caused by roots. I called M. A. Williams again and
they said that there was no warranty due to the roots. I asked how much
it would cost me to snake it again. $412.95. I asked if they would do it
for $200 because it had only been 3 days. The answer was ""No"". I told
them that I thought this was wrong on their part because the job was
never finished. Still ""No"". To me this is bad business. I told then that
it would be a ""cold day in hell before I would call them again"". Another
plumber came out on Wednesday. He installed an outside drain and
snaked my line again for a lesser price. He did a great job for a fair
price. Customers beware. M. A. Williams will ""screw"" you over.
M. A. Williams does not treat their customers fairly.
M.A. Williams replaced my ejector pump yesterday Chris was pleasant, professional. He advised me on options to repair or replace the unit. However I didn't get to review the cost prior to agreeing to have the work done. He said a new pump would be about $1800 , however he kept referring to a 2 hp pump before He had a chance to even looked at my pump. He was there for 2 hours in the morning then left to check another job. Came back and work another 3 hours to replace the pump.
He installed a .5 hp and it cost me over $2300. I got the invoice and it wasn't itemized, so I don't know what the pump cost was or labor cost. I spoke with service manager and he said they don't itemize since they don't charge taxes. Just a way to gauge you for whatever cost they see fit. I asked the service manager for a verbal cost and he said $800 for the pump and the rest was labor. I went on line looking for the model pump they installed and none were over $400. He tried to explain that there price was different because they go through a supply company. Bottom line, use them at you on discretion. Get other quotes. And be warned about M.A. Williams
On June 20, 2018, one of my air conditioner units quit working due to the fan capacitor failed. My wife, called MA Williams and ask if and when they could fix it, and how much a service call cost. They replied $89 for service call plus repair cost. That was fine, as the same thing happened about a year ago and it cost $125 and she figured if it was the same thing the cost would be close. She scheduled the appointment, the service man arrived, replaced the fan capicator in about 15 to 20 minutes and submitted a bill for labor and on top of that one part cost of $275 for a ""S/35 MFD dual run capacitor"" that anyone can buy for $5 to $15 each.
I realize most companies mark up the cost of parts, but two to three thousand percent is uncalled for. I did not fuss at the service tech, but I did send a couple of emails to MA Williams and was ignored.
At this point I do not want or expect anything from MA Williams, because if they have to stoop to this type of preditory practice to stay in business, they need the money more than this 75 year old man.
I complained to BBB, but they are not much help.
VERY disappointed. I took a day off from work to accommodate a 10-1 window for plumber to come by. By 1:15, no one had showed or called. I had to call office only to find out technician's truck broke down. Why didn't they call to let me know? I was told: ""Oh, no one called you? Oh, he should have"" and that was all they ever said.
I took 2 1/2 days off from work for a 4 hour job from a company that doesn't care about customer but gladly took my check.
Jesse H.Dan, Antonio, and Chris came out in sub-freezing temperatures last week to replace my sewer line. It was done in one day and I was very pleased. David came out today and cleaned up the area after snow and rain, filled in a hole that had occurred because of the weather, leveled out the area much better than it had been and put more straw down. David was very professional, personable, knowledgeable and went beyond what I expected for service. He said that M.A. Williams employees like to leave a job looking like they would want their own yards to look. I am very, very pleased with David's work today.
I needed fast service involving a main cutoff valve leak in my crawl space since we were leaving the next morning to go out of town. M. A. Williams responded promptly with very short notice and made the necessary repair. Also, the M. A. Williams plumber helped me avoid another leak by adjusting a cutoff valve to an outside faucet without charge. Their performance and timeliness were outstanding and would recommend this company to friends/family.
My heat stopped work so we called them and asked how much for them to come out and tell me what is wrong with it. The girl on the phone told my husband $49.00. Well, the technician came out he did find the problem, but then tells us it's $129.00. When I called the office they tell us that it's 49$ for him to come put and 70$ for him to look at it. We asked her 3 times if all we had to pay was 49$ and she said yes. When we asked her why she told us 50, her response to me was, IT SCARES THE CUSTOMERS AWAY IF WE TELL THEM THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT FEES FOR THEM TO COME AND LOOK AT IT. These people are liars I would not recommend them to anyone. I am only giving them one star because I have to!
Bill H.Tony, from MA Williams just left. He did a phenomenal job of cleaning several years worth of blockage on my old downspouts. House is 90 years old and I wonder how well they've ever been cleared out. Anyway, very professional and fairly priced. Would definitely use them again.
I was disappointed with the level of service I received. My HVAC was not cooling so I thought I would try to have it serviced (get the Freon levels checked, condenser coils cleaned etc...) Tech came out and perform the service and said everything look good. A day later the unit stop cooling again, so M.A. Williams sent a Tech out in which all he did was added Freon. Did I mention if you need to add Freon you should probably look for a leak, right? Well the tech did not do that so a day later I had the same issue where the HVAC was not cooling. The HVAC unit had the issue a third time during 90 degree temperatures and on a weekend. They advertise a 24 hour service which is false advertising because essentially it is a calling service. When I called the M. A. Williams 24 hour service they indicated I would have to wait until Monday because they do not have HVAC techs that work on the weekends. At this point I am out $400 dollars and no closer to knowing why my HVAC unit was broken. The following Monday I called a different vendor who knew what they were doing and correctly diagnosed my issue which was a bad T-valve on the Air Handler (making it appear that I had Freon leak) and a bad reverse valve on the outside unit which would cost me $2500 dollars to fix. I decided if I was going to spend that kind of money I would just buy a new unit. For 3 days I tried to get the Service manager to call me from M.A. Williams just so he would know his techs need more training on diagnostics. He has yet to return to my call. I would not recommend this company to service your HVAC. If I could give 0 stars I would. By the way I normally do not write reviews, but service was so bad I felt compelled to let others know.
Malena H.Terrible service! I had this company come out to fix my garbage disposal. Appointment was 12-2p, the guy showed up at 2:45p; late without any notice. He came out told me it would cost $144 to fix or replace it for $400. Naturally we said fix it, he then said ""Well you're gonna be mad about this"". He proceeded to un-tightened a bolt under the sink and it was fixed. He charged me $144 for a job that took less than 10 seconds!! I called to talk to the manager about overcharging me for such a small amount of work. I had to call back 3 times over 3 days in order to have a manager talk to me. After I did talk to someone he told me that I don't own a business and have no idea the charges that goes into jobs. I'm not looking to steal money from anyone or get a cheap rate. All I am looking for is a fair price for work and $144 for literally 10 seconds of work was outrageous. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I wish I could give them 0 stars!
