Losch Boiler Sales and Service began in 1929, focusing on the renowned Losch coal stoker from the Losch Boiler Company in Summit Station, PA. In 1946, we became one of the first plumbing and heating companies to deliver home heating oil in a region primarily using coal. In 1987, we adopted the name Losch Plumbing and Heating, Inc. to emphasize our comprehensive plumbing and heating services. While we continued servicing coal stokers, this change reinforced our broader service offerings. Losch Services Inc. now delivers a variety of services, including plumbing, heating, light electrical, carpentry, bathroom remodels, home repairs, drain and sewer cleaning, well pumps, water heaters, and the installation of natural gas, oil, propane, or coal furnaces to numerous satisfied clients throughout Schuylkill and neighboring counties. After 30 years in this 85-year-old business, I’ve learned that three fundamental aspects are crucial:

Janine W.My husband called Losch for a bad clog that made our downstairs toilet overflow when the washer was run or the shower. They took forever to get back to him . Then two different times never came out. When they finally did we told them they fixed stuff in 2019 . They started to auger the outside drain pipes , then their auger got stuck so they stopped . They were going to camera the sewer pipes but didn't have all the camera equipment with them. Nor did they come prepared with a jetting machine Incase the pipes needed jetting . They said the auger couldn't go through because there was a broken pipe , which they knew was going to break three years ago but never fixed it when they fixed the other sewer pipe . The one guy went to go get the equipment while the older man stayed. The young man was gone for hours and the older man didn't work . The other one finally came back and they jetted the clog which should have been done in the first place had they been prepared . They never did Camera. My husband told them to stop , the young man said stop but the old one kept going and going and got his snake stuck 30 feet down into the drain outside . It got stuck more once they tried getting it out . They never did camera either . They only worked for 2 out of five hours . But expect to be paid for 5 hours when five hours worth of work wasn't done . They want to be paid for doing camera work that wasn't done . And ontop of they expect 14,000 to dig their tool out . Had they stopped their tool wouldn't be stuck . It's their problem to get it out not ours we didn't get it stuck . The clog is much worse now and stuff is backing up again because of their snake being stuck in there for almost three weeks so they made the problem worse . Also they said they told the old owners of the house about the pipe , but they refused to do anymore work . The owners who we bought the house from said they paid Losch to do all the recommended work and paid over 10,000. Don't go with Losch they are shady and apparently don't know what they are doing .
Our furnace would't fire up called and they sent two men, they had to replace a part the one man did absolutely nothing but watch the other man make the repair and then charged me $400.00 and refused to give me an atomized bill. Here it is 2 years later and the exact same thing happened again called someone different this time same part same labor and I was charged $140.00. So be careful when hiring this outfit you will pay big time.
Howard B.A year ago or so ago I called for someone to look at my stoker for some repairs. An older fellow 50 or so and a bit on the plump side came and looked it over and left. I had the impression someone would call with a price or be contacted somehow. Well now it's a year or better and no contact of any sort. I have an answering machine so I know I did not miss a call. If he didn't want to do the job he should have said so! So if a 50 ish fellow shows after you call them, BEWARE! I'll never call again.
We needed a last minute gas line extension for our new stove top and was so happy Losch was able to help us right away! They were so professional, reasonably priced, and exceeded our expectations! We were so pleased with their service that we had them come out the next week to install an outdoor gas line for our fire pit. 5 stars - will use them again & highly recommend!
Had an appointment for service, no one showed up. I called to ask for an update and was told there was no appointment scheduled. How do you have no appointment scheduled but you know my name and address? What garbage. They can't even make up a good lie to cover their sorry ""service"".
I'm actually really surprised by the negative reviews that this company has on yelp. My aunts heating system broke (blowing cold air but no heat) and I had tried everything that I knew of to fix it myself. After a quick Google search, I narrowed it down to 2 places that had really good reviews (Losch being one of them). I had initially called another company first, but I gave them my information and was asked to wait for a call back. I live over an hour away from my aunt's house (in another state), and also was expected to wait for the actual service/job to be done, so...my patience was limited to waiting about 30 minutes, which is when I decided to try the next business (Losch Services). I'm happy that I did. The girl that answered the phone talked to me as if I had been a customer for years, and expressed concern/urgency in helping to fix my aunt's issue. I don't remember how long it took for them to show (if it was too long, I'd be remembering it). The guy that showed up was very nice, seemed very knowledgeable and narrowed down the issue to a bad capacitor. Came in to explain the issue, solution, cost, etc. to which I approved. Everything was so perfect about this experience, that I came on here to leave a good review for them. Which goes back to the first part of my review, i'm REALLY surprised that these guys have such bad reviews on here.. makes me think that someone is out to get them. Google reviews are what i based my decision on, and my experience with them was exactly what the Google reviews say. Thanks again Losch Services!!
Horrible service! Rescheduled my furnace cleaning 3 times within 3 months. i was told they came to my house when i was sleeping which was a complete lie. Then stated people without heat come first (which i understand they should before me although i'm not one bit important to them when its been 3 months and we rescheduled 3 times and u call for a fourth!!) I guess what they are waiting for is for my furnace to stop working so they can make more money from me. Take ur business else where.
Dishonest, overpriced, and poor workmanship. Butch took advantage of the short timeframe that I had to replace the sanitary drains in our house. He refused to provide an itemized quote for the work ( I made several requests before and after the job). They charged me $1,702 for less than 4 hours of work (two guys). Materials at Lowes: 3""x10' pipe $9.68, two 4""x10' pipe $20.76, 2""x10' pipe $9.12, two 45 elbows $2.89 each, 3"" sanitary tee $4.43, 3""x3"" elbow w/ 2"" low heel inlet $9.09, three Fernco couplers $20.18, maybe a few fittings that I missed. Total materials: $99.80 or so. The $1,600 balance for 8 hours of labor. You'd think making $200/hour that the job would be done right but they glued the pipes so that it stuck out 1/2"" past the drywall. I had to have one of them return to fix the botched job so that I could repair the wall. He used a Fernco to stretch the pipe and graciously commented that he wouldn't charge me for the work. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Don't believe anything Butch says.
Scott B.Called near the end of regular business hours and was told I could have someone come out in the late afternoon, BUT, it would be on OT, thus the labor cost would be higher. I assured them that was fine, because I really needed the work done. They were out within 2 hours and had the problem fixed in a little better than an hour. The job was in a crawl space and had an open sewer line they needed to close, so by far not a pleasant job. Did the job with no complaints and despite the OT wages, I didn't feel I overpaid! Will be employing them in the future to fix stuff in the bathroom and for possible remodel there as well!
have had a furnace protection policy for 23 years. the business was sold last here and the owner now considers it a new company and will no longer honor the policy. there are only 2 of this policy remaining and last two years cost close to six hundred dollars a year so I think it should have been continued. when purchased the policy the original flyer said it was a forever policy as long as I owned the house. will be looking for someone else to service my oil burner from now on.
