Recommended Customer Reviews

The buyers for our home had an inspector that said we had a natural gas leak in 2 places. It was required by our contract to have a plumber come to check it out for us. Michael came out, and I explained the situation. He not only tested and found no leak, but he also took photos and videos that we could share with the buyers for their reassurance. Jenessa in Customer Care also sent an invoice stating that no leak was found.
Both Jenessa and Michael went above and beyond. I'll definitely be using Lighten Up for any needs in the future!

It was my mistake for not getting multiple quotes I went with the first quote. I had a chandelier installed in my two story living room and I later went and looked at the invoice which I had no idea what it usually runs to hang chandeliers. It was a big 46"" chandelier and 50lbs. Well there was $162 ladder fee!! Then the chandelier was $391! I had another chandelier installed by Anywhere Electric and asked what they would charge for this exact chandelier and they said they have installed this exact one and would charge $250! I got another quote from another electrician and they said $225. This place is ridiculously over priced and left scratches in my hardwood with their ladder! And they didn't even cut the chain they double hung it and it looks bad.

Super expensive! They bid by the job and start at $199 just to diagnose and that doesn't include the work. They wanted charge me $600 just to change out a few outlets. We called another company and got it done for $120. I'm sure they do good work but the price is ridiculous!

Responsive and qualified but very very expensive. My advice is to get quotes from other providers. No way to justify their prices.

Buyer beware. I had the company come to do a ""free"" furnace inspection on a house we bought recently. The furnace ""checked"" during our home inspection and everything worked fine. When the technician came out...we had an $800 estimate of ""needed repairs"". When we called to discuss and get a breakdown of the cost we had to speak with the technician (not the office) and the person who called was not very helpful and very defensive and kept saying, ""this is what it is going to be for me to warranty your furnace."" He promised photos to send photos and a breakdown of the costs to do each item and back up the quote...and have never sent anything. In the end, we researched the suggested repair items that they put on their estimate, did the items (except remove the blower unit) and with 30 minutes of effort and under $10 of material, I did everything myself and the furnace runs fine.

We needed under cabinet lightening put in as soon as possible so our backsplash tiler could get to work during a kitchen remodel. Martha was very efficient on the phone and Caleb came to the house two days later right on time, calling to let me know he was on his way. Their goal is to show up, give a quote, and do the work right then--no rescheduling for the actual job. He was quick and efficient and everything seems done correctly so far. The Lightning is perfect. I would agree with the other reviews--they are good but expensive. It came out to about 200$ an hour and we supplied the lights. However, we didn't get any other quotes so this may be par for electrician work. I will definitely call them again if I need an electrician.

Was not at all impressed with Mike, the plumbing technician sent to diagnose the sewer smell in my kitchen whenever the dishwasher ran. Was offered a jet cleaning of up to 250"" feet of pipe for a cost of $1,126.94 including their drain maintenance product. The tech could not explain why the P trap for the dishwasher was dry allowing sewer gases to escape. I paid the $29 diagnostic fee and called another plumber, Tallon Services. They correctly diagnosed the problem, traced the vent pipe and rerouted the dishwasher, and closed off an unneccessary P trap at a total cost of $169.

I scheduled a service call for Wednesday. I called back Tuesday just to understand how they bill for work. I wanted someone to give me a price for an A/C routine maintenance, a furnace routine maintenance and to fix a leaking outdoor faucet. I was having trouble getting a straight answer - the rep said they can't tell me because a technician had to do that. I said, suppose it is just to replace a washer on the outside faucet. The representative said she could not do this, as she is not a plumber. She referred me to someone else in the office, who told me that I would be better served by going to another plumber. I was floored. They could not tell me the cost to do a specific repair? I just wanted get an idea of their pricing structure.
My only conclusion has to be that they are very expensive, and once they are in the field, a homeowner would say yes to any price quoted.
I like transparency, if a firm can not answer my simple question, how much to install a new washer in an outside faucet. I don't trust them

Beth answered the phone and scheduled our service, she was more than welcoming! Very chipper and friendly. Go Beth! The serviceman came and was equally as nice, he was running early so he called and asked to come earlier than expected, super considerate. He gathered all the information he needed to quote us for new fire alarms & installation. In my opinion, it was incredibly overpriced but hey, if you got the money to spend, I highly recommend them.

Lighten Up has helped us numerous times with work on our new house - we've worked with 3 different technicians now (electrical and plumbing) and each has been great. Plus, their office staff are so friendly and helpful - they keep you informed, and even called to see how the work was going one day. Highly recommend!
