Levine & Sons
Company Overview
In 1927, Louis Levine established Levine & Sons. His vision was to provide customers with exceptional service for all their plumbing needs, which set the standard for our operations today. His belief in treating others well fostered a culture of clean, quality, and prompt service at fair rates.
Tom joined Levine & Sons when he was only 16 years old. Louis educated him on both the technical side of plumbing and HVAC and the value of respecting customers. He took these teachings to heart, showcasing excellent customer service from the start, continuing his father's legacy of reliability and building trust with every client.
Founded in Detroit in 1927 by Louis Levine, Levine & Sons focuses on plumbing, heating, and cooling. Now, it has transformed into a third-generation family enterprise, currently led by his three grandchildren. Initially a plumbing service provider, Levine & Sons now offers expert plumbing, furnace, boiler, air conditioning, and drain cleaning services. Our bath tub drain was not draining properly after my hubby took a shower. Next morning, I called several plumbers within my area and no one could come out, my hubby said call Levine & Sons they jetted our sewer line! Oh yeah!! I forgot :( anyway called they responded back quickly with a time frame that was well beyond my expectations. (So Happy).
Scott "" The Plumber ""and Anthony were here to save my day, worked quickly to diagnose our problem ( gross old hair clog) they went above and beyond for us. What a great team they worked well together and relayed information to me step by step.
VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE.
Thank you Scott and Anthony!
First off they didn't arrive when they were supposed to, so they rescheduled to the afternoon. When I called, I asked for a quote on how much it would be to install a faucet and I was told the technician would have to quote me. When the technician came he pulled up standard pricing which was $380 for the kitchen faucet and $350 for the bathroom faucet. There is no reason that the person who booked me couldn't have given me that range of costs. They were going to charge me a visit fee on top of that but since they missed their first appointment they waived it. I paid over $700 for the installation of one faucet and a partial install of another faucet which took less than 4 hours.
Since then, my kitchen sink has been backing up so I called them back and asked them to come look at the install to see if how the technician ran the PVC piping could be causing the standing water. They called and said it would be $199 minimum because they would have to send a drain expert along with the guy to see if the install was done correctly. I thought after paying $700 that their work should be guaranteed. We did not have a standing water issue before he installed the new faucet and I am not going to pay anymore for overpriced services.
Should really be ZERO stars. They serviced a water heater and charged over $400 to ""fix"" it. It went out 3 weeks later, and they charged another $80 service fee to tell us it was the same problem and we should replace the 40 gallon gas water heater. They quoted over $2,800 to replace the water heater, on top of the initial $400+ to ""fix"" it 3 weeks ago. I've been managing properties for over 12 years in Michigan and this is EXTREME PRICE GOUGING! They would NOT stand by their initial work done for $400 (not even for 30 days). On top of all of this they charged $80 for the repeat service charge. NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF THIEVES!
Had a hot water tank incorrectly installed. Our old one had failed and we needed a new one installed as soon as possible. They are definitely more expensive than other places but as I said we needed it immediately and they came out the next day. The tank was installed in our utility room which we don't go into often. About a week after the install I noticed a faint smell of gas that seemed to be emanating from the gas line connection to the hot water tank. I put some soapy water on it and it was bubbling indicating a leak. My house could have been destroyed and my family hurt or killed. If I pay a company to do a job it should be done correctly, especially when dealing with something which can be as deadly as natural gas.
Kelly T.Our water heater died late on a Sunday night. Called them Monday, and they sent a tech right out. They were clear on what the out call cost would be, then clear about what costs and product would be for us. They described what and how the particular unit would be best for us. The tech was polite, friendly, and installed the new water heater within about 3 hours. I was very happy with them and would not hesitate to recommend them or use then again.
Nicole E.I had a leak from my furnace a while back that was dripping onto the wood floors for a while before I realized it was from the heater or from the humidifier unit.
The tech was quiet, efficient and easily found the leak. He sealed it up quickly and it's been a while and no more leaks since.
They will even pay $50 for the old furnace, whenever I get a new one.
They are local, Southfield local.
Denise M.My neighbor had his drain snaked yesterday 11/27/20 and today my basement is full iof sewage. Reading the reviews of this company I chose not to deal with them. Obviously they didn't know their job if they destroyed my basement.
Jessica V.UPDATE:
They sent a restoration company out to fix the mess Saturday evening. They threw out all of our belongings that had sewage on them, and cleaned and disinfected the two bathrooms. They will be sending another company out to clean the carpets. Originally we were told that because it's raw sewage, they would have to remove the carpeting, but because their moisture meter didn't return any moisture readings (5 days later), they are just going to send someone to clean them.
Currently out over $800 in belongings that had to be thrown away, still no resolution on how they plan to handle that.... more to come.
UPDATE:
As of today, we still are missing ceiling tiles in the basement, and the ""project manager"" has yet to call and schedule to replace. We have had a carpet cleaning company out to clean the carpets (Modernistic- did a fantastic job!), however Jim Levine has yet to return a phone call and the restoration company he sent out, sent me a bill!! Furthermore, after all of this occurred, I'm beginning to believe that the Confederate Flag toting tech that they sent to my house intentionally destroyed our home because of my Biden/Harris and BLM signs in the front of the house. I'm hopeful that Jim rectified the situation properly.
I am pleased with the way Levine & Sons reps were addressing my problem (back-up of a basement drain). A visit was scheduled within 24h from my call. I was told that I will receive a text to alert me of when the technician will arrive at my home, I was told how much the repair is estimated to cost and under which conditions. Today, all happened as told and expected. The technician, D'Angelo Berrios, was wearing a mask, was attentive to keep the work area clean, was on time, and finished the job in a timely manner. I was told that scoping the drain is included in the price. Due to the technician's scope being under repair he could not verify it all was OK. I was told to call his supervisor to setup a (free) visit to scope the drain and find out if additional work was needed (as indicated by the traces of matter on the ""snake"").
All in all, I would recommend Levine & Sons if one has a drain issue.
Carlos E.They charged $69 for just a visit, this amount is in addition to the service. I had a $317 quote (plus 69 for visit) for replacing the basket strainer of the sink. They didn't have the part ready and when I asked why it was so expensive, the person said because of the name of the company and pointed out his logo. He could not articulate any valid reason besides that one.
I called a different company, a friendly person came the same day, he had the part ready, and fix the leak in 45 minutes. I paid $150 part included.
So I ended up having a bad experience, and paid $69 just for a crazy quote and bad service.
Way to go for this company!
