Lessard's style is to quote by the job. He does not work by the hour, but wants to think he is so talented that he should be paid in a overall package fee--so you are required to have a pre-service call visit. This means he spends an extraordinary amount of time with you chatting and walking around your house. Then he quotes a very high fee.

At that point you just want to get your work done, are aggravated, but may not want to take the time to deal with another plumber, maybe the work will take some time. . .but unfortunately he does his work in a quarter of the time you expect and waltzes out with a HUGE check. He is a complete rip off. I cannot recommend this con artist to any home owner, unless money is no object for you. Anyone has to be better than this plumber, unless you do not care about how much it costs.. .Oh and that reminds me that his work was not flawless and required a return to fix what he'd ""fixed."" A toilet was leaking. . .He is an expensive headache and will talk you into work that may not need to be done.

Excellent experience in a scary, emergency situation late at night.

At 10:00 p.m. on a Monday night, we noted a small gas leak in the basement pipes atthe gas meter and called NSTAR. The NSTAR on-call emergency tech came out right away (which was great) and fixed the NSTAR pipe. However, he could not work on the pipe inside OUR house that connected to it, so we had to have the gas shut off, amd were told to call a plumber ASAP.

Immediately, called the only other plumber we had used in the past, but could not reach anyone and there was no answering service. We called a 2nd plumber (who had great Yelp reviews), but no one answered, and there was no answering service.
Finally, we called Paul Lessard Plumbing and Heating in Natick.

Although he had one bad Yelp review from "" Mike M."" who was (irrationally) mad because he couldn't get a quote over the phone for a job sight-unseen (?!?), we were desperate, as the NSTAR guy said we had only enough hot water in the tank for two showers the next morning (a workday).

So we called Paul Lessard... and I am very glad we did!

Despite what the negative reviewer had written, Paul could not have been more pleasant or accommodating, He answered right away (despite it being 10:00 p.m.) and he agreed to come over first thing in the morning at 8:00 (""right after [his] first cup of coffee!"")

True to his word, he was at our door at 8:00 sharp, and was super helpful and thorough. He inspected the entire house and not only fixed the minor leak at the meter, but he also tightened up a loose bracket that was causing our pipes to rattle, and he replaced the water connector on the new fridge.

Paul was extremely kind, very thorough and expert at his work. He made all of the necessary arrangements to obtain the permits needed with the Town, and he came back the next day with the inspector, who approved the work without a hitch. It could not have been more painless, and his pricing was very fair. [Again, contrary to the negative reviewer's comment, no ""destination charge"" or ""service call"" charge was discussed or added to the bill.]

As great as Yelp can be, sometimes the reviews and averages are deceptive and skewed by one or two unfair and mean-spirited review! So, please don't be dissuaded from calling Paul Lessard Plumbing because of that one bad Yelp review. It is not representative of our experience at all. In fact, I can say without any hesitation that, should I have any more plumbing issues in the future, I will call Paul Lessard first!

I contacted Paul Lessard to do some plumbing work in my kitchen. Paul showed up the next day and did a very professional work while paying attention to details, not saving any effort to get the job done the best way. Paul is a reliable plumber, very responsive and offers a great service for a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again if I need.

Incredibly rude.

I called with a couple small plumbing issues that I wanted to get an idea of a price to fix. Not only would he not give me a ballpark quote over the phone, but he started to argue with me about how he only does ""service calls"" at a minimum rate and why that is somehow the preferred method of billing.

I asked, ""Would you prefer to come to the house to give me an estimate?"" He mumbled some incoherent reply about charging me a ""destination charge"" just to take a look.

This guy doesn't seem to understand that calling around for a price is normal. I'm sure he would rather have potential customers blindly pick someone and pay whatever they happen to charge. Too bad.
