Sarah H.Terrible experience! Our kitchen sink leaked so much it started leaked thru our basement ceiling. A plumber came out ""tightened"" somethings and cut a huge hole in my ceiling. A few days later the leak continued and another Len plumber came out and didn't see any problem?!?! Almost $400 for zero solutions and a hole in my basement ceiling. Call someone else.
My well pump broke down during weekend and I called LEN the Plumber. The technician told me that full diagnostic would cost 850 dollars and if I accept this he would call his partner and they would work on it. Before signing I asked how much the total would be. He said the cheaper option would be about $3k, submersible option that he would recommend would be around $4k, and he would do something to include this initial diagnostic cost. After I signed, they hiked up the estimations to $6k, and $8k for the submersible option. Needless to say, they did not fix anything (except they fixed their truck's deflated tire on my driveway). I ended up getting very expensive lesson: NEVER CALL THEM FOR SERVICE!
Rashawn H.I had a pipe that the shut off valve would not turn off all the way. I called LEN The Plumber based on Google search reviews. I guess I should have looked at Yelp first! The guy came out and looked at my pipe and stated that he could change the outside faucet hose bib and install a shutoff valve for over $700..what??? The guy showed me the price of the parts on his iPad. He wanted to charge me over $500 just for the bib and pipe. The pipe/faucet bib can be purchased for about $50 and the shut off valve can be purchased for $ 30.00! I told the guy that I just want the pipe blocked so the water would stop streaming. He said he would cut a small section out of the pipe and seal it., $ 400.00! I called the company and asked them about how they price their jobs but received a halfway convoluted answer about how they warranty the job and that's included into the price. I should have not gone through with the work however I needed this stopped immediately. I later found out, today, I could have had the same work completed for $150.00 bucks, what in the world!!! I will not used this overpriced ripoff company who only seems interested in charging as much as they can for something simple! This job took less than 20 minutes, thievery and they charged me $400!!?? Stay away from this place! You know, customer recommendation is worth more than the dollars you over charge your potential customers. Repeat business means more too. You will not be receiving any from me because of this. I will also tell all my family, friends (which I have a lot, a network of over 20,000 friends, who I know!) In the DMV, I will tell with one post not to ever use your services! You could have had a solid customer who would have recommended you but you decided to rip me off! Thanks, enjoy that $ 400..
The response would have been appreciated if it hadn't been the boilerplate response Yu give to every negative review. If your service department is reconsidering it's refusal to stand behind its work, it certainly hasn't informed me of that.
Frank Y.Tried to rip us off by quoting $500 for various repairs on a water heater that just needed a basic flush which another firm later did for $150 (and a good DIY person could do themselves). Would give 0 stars if I could. They seem like a money grubbing chain who will just try to overcharge anyone with a decent house in a nice area. Common problem in Bethesda particularly in the plumbing trade.
Shavar G.The District Manager for LEN the Plumber called me personally to apologize and to attempt to retain me as a customer. I can appreciate that level of commitment to trying to get it right!
Len the Plummer came to give me an estimate for a sump pump. When I asked about a pedestal sump pump the Plummer said he had never heard of that, then said they don't use that kind anymore. Not true, a pedestal pump does not go into the pit but sits on the ground of the basement. And they are still installed today. When I asked about the electrical needs for the pump he said he could use an extension cord. Not true. Not only can you NOT use an extension cord but a sump pump need a dedicated line and it Needs to have GFCI protection. I'm glad I did my homework. The estimate for the sump pump installation was $1,900. I had another plummer come over who said I didn't even need a pump since my sump pit had never overflowed in the 14years I lived in the house. He gave me an estimate of $850 if I wanted a pump installed. His name is Chuck The Plummer and his phone number is 301-774-1452. I've used him before. He did not charge me to come over even though he knew ahead of time that I would probably not need a pump.
Joel H.This company advertises endlessly that it offers same day service. But I called yesterday in the late afternoon and was told I would have to wait for the next day for service.
Don't ask me why I didn't consult Yelp before I even picked up the phone. If you are looking for a salesman, who sells old women who are home alone unnecessary water heaters when they are there to look at a major leak in the main water supply these are your guys. My mothers house had a large leak bubbling up from the ground at the street and we called Len the Plumber for an estimate. Well because the work couldn't be done that day and we had to get other Utilities involved before work could start, the salesman then convinced my mother that she needed a new water heater because hers was old. The regional manager ""Brad"" called me and said that they were doing this work at cost because my mom had agreed to use them for the larger scope which was the main water line replacement to the house and that he was doing his ""good dead for the day""....his exact words. Well after finding out myself what they were going to charge I called and asked that they stop the process of performing the work on the main water line to which then I was told that if they stopped the water heater was going to be $2800.........FOR A WATER HEATER INSTALLATION!!!! We were then given the reasons that they had already pulled a permit (which is done online and cost $75, I know this for a fact because I work with permits daily on my job and inquired with the county.) They also said that they had already set up with Miss Utility (WHICH IS A FREE SERVICE THAT THEY JUST PLACED A PHONE CALL FOR.) So I guess all of their overhead of pulling an online permit and making a phone call made up the difference in charging $2800 for a water heater. But........the one to blame here is me. They already charged my credit card for half of the amount so they already had their money and they knew it. I work in the service field for one of the largest electrical contractors in the DMV and I work daily with customers and general contractors and I know that what they did to my mother is unfair. They took advantage of a woman who had a major problem at her house and used it as an opportunity to tell her another major expense was needed to be addressed when it wasn't. Now she has two major expenses to pay for instead of just one, on a single income for a house that she's doing her best to upkeep since my dad died. Now I should add that we aren't going to let her pay for this, we are the ones who are now going to foot this bill because she just isn't able to pay for two major repairs. I will tell you this, I will now make it a point to make sure people know not to use this company and I would say I'm pretty impressed with my families network of people. Hope this review helps somebody, stupid me for not coming here first.
It used to be a good company. Now, with plumbers working on commission, beware. They try to sniff out any potential source of making money off of you. Had to pay over $300 for about 20 minutes of actual work in cleaning a clogged drain. The same time that I spent a number of times in the past, cleaning the same drain. That with a manual, instead of a power snake.
