Company Overview

Locally run by a couple. Always on call. Reliable specialists in drywall. Drain tile installation. Commercial needs. Focused care. Thorough approach. Top-notch troubleshooting. Reasonable rates. Affordable solutions. No-cost assessments. Expertise across all manufacturers. IL Plumbing Contractor #055-027411.

I was raised in Riverside, IL. At the age of 10, I learned from my stepfather Roy about the ins and outs of plumbing and heating. He started Riverside Plumbing & Heating in 1959, amassing 35 years of knowledge in the industry before his passing in 1989. During 1987, Patti came to Lemont. In the year after, we opened Lemont Plumbing & Heating Co. for business. Patti has been by my side ever since. For three decades, we have offered reliable expertise, exceptional results, and prompt support around the clock, all at reasonable costs.

I bring 37 years of experience in electrical work, covering repairs, upgrades, and renovation. I’ve been happily married to my dear wife, Patti, and I am a father to Robert, who was 17 and tragically left us in August 2019, and Rebecca, who is 23. I love my feline friends. I enjoy classical music, old rock and roll, boats, and motorcycles. I take great pleasure in addressing plumbing challenges. Our team is friendly, organized, trustworthy, and approachable. We avoid misleading clients, push unnecessary services, or claim to fix issues that don’t exist. We invite you to see our process. We’ll discuss your requirements and their importance. We’re happy to work with your materials, partner with you, and correct work that was begun by someone else. We avoid upselling you on unneeded items. We don’t use flat-rate pricing, as I can’t always predict costs upfront. No contracts are needed when we arrive. We maintain low overhead costs, and this allows us to offer competitive pricing. We will give you time to pay.

Update** I was never a friend of your former employee, I've never even met him before. 2nd, not once have the police been to my house for domestic disturbances. 3rd, they were not helping remove any snow, they were utilizing the garage that you all work out of and entirely blocking the alley in the process. I calmly asked him if he could move his work truck so people could get out and instead started screaming that he ain't moving shut he has right to be parked there. If your going to lie atleast make it plausible.

Story time! I would like to start my review by stating that I am NOT a friend of any former disgruntled employee that used to work here, since that seems to be the owners favorite line of defense on previous reviews. I, in fact, just moved to Lemont in March of this year, from the beautiful city of Fort Wayne, Indiana (*insert sarcasm*) and have frequently saw ads for his business, as I lived one block away and my family and I frequented Muffins Ice Cream shop every Sunday during the summer and walked right past. Fast forward to October: my landlord has a larger property available two blocks away, so we take our gang of kids and move in. Two weeks in, and my second sump pump goes out early in the day. Contact the landlord, plumber won't be here until Tuesday (it's Saturday). That night, my shower suddenly begins flooding my kitchen! A completely separate issue. Call the landlord, he's unavailable. So, having lived in Chicago for five years and had grown accustomed to supporting local businesses, I decided to give good Ol' Lemont Plumbing/ Heating a call at 9:04 PM. The gentleman on the phone says he'll be here in 45 minutes. Now, in case you forgot from my very winded review, we now live three blocks away. A whopping two minute drive! Seeing as how my husband is in the service industry, and he, too, can get a call at three in the morning, I understand not wanting to leave your home once you've settled in with your family. I get it. But if you just flat out ignore the customer, and never show up or answer the calls, don't have a 24 hour business. Jumping to two hours later, I have to run out to the store to get a few items for my two small children. And here I'm driving past good Ol' Jim's Lemont Plumbing/ Heating and his work van is sitting out front. So he's not on another job, he hasn't returned my calls. So I call and leave a very rude voicemail (why lie?) saying that I no longer need his services and that I was going to leave an awful review on yelp (WHICH I FAILED TO READ BEFORE MAKING MY INITIAL CALL). At the beginning of this review, Jim text me and asked me to explain him exactly what the problem was that I had already explained to him (it's now 11:44PM). I don't respond. He then calls me and sleepily says he'll be here in 20 minutes. I say ok, but continue writing my review, as they now have stricken me as a shifty business. Next thing I know, his WIFE is calling me at 12:14 AM telling me she can't send ""him"" out until she personally speaks with the landlord because she's been ""screwed"" in the past and she has people that owe her $45,000 and then she proceeded to not listen to anything that I was saying and kept screaming into the phone ""You're not the owner! You're not the owner! You're not the owner!"". I hang up. And I swear, you'll never believe me when I tell you this: she called me back and proceeded to yell at me! At this point, I'm floored. I mean, I've dealt with some ghetto businesses before, but damn. The wife actually called the customer and tried to chew them out. Side note: I did end up getting a hold of my landlord around 10 o'clock, and he was on standby, ready to pay. And if we didn't get ahold of him, we were totally prepared to pay. Now, because my husband also works in a similar industry, and is WAAAAAY more understanding than I could ever be in an infinite amount of lifetimes, he called them back to tell them what they did was totally unacceptable and unprofessional and that he could've just lied and said he wasn't available but could come in the morning. He used that as an opportunity to offer his services and my husband declined, knowing that there was no way I would ever let these people into my home. It's very unfortunate that his wife cost him a huge profit because we have two major issues! I'll be sure to update my post so they know how much money they missed out on and will be much more weary of local businesses from now on.

I want to express my sincere thanks to Jim ( AND spouse who is very knowledgeable) for coming out last night ( Friday night ) after hours because we had water coming up out of the drain next to our hot water heater. Guess what! our ejector pump went out and I called three other plumbing companies in Lemont that were closed at 5:30 pm. Jim offered to come right away even though he was sitting down for dinner with his family at home, but still managed to answer his business phone. Now that's service. Jim came, even drove me to Menards to pick out the brand I wanted, and save on the upcharge most plumbers do on time and materials. Jim replaced pump, cleaned his work area, and even the mess caused by the upflow of water from drain.
I originally saw Lemont plumbing be referred on a neighborhood web site that states good tradesmen, etc. Sure glad I listened, Lemont plumbing is very fair, and does a quality job

I had a water heater go out late on the 23rd of December. I figured I could live two days without it (thanks to neighbors) since a holiday rate would be high. I called LP on the morning of 26th and Jim reviewed my issue, and said he could have somebody there by noon. Well, other plumbing issues came up for other people that were more pressing than mine. Jim called and said they are still coming, just delayed. I think Jim called me 2-3 times to keep me posted on their timeline during the day. If I didn't get the call, I would have been upset waiting around with no clue when they are coming. Customer service! That is what makes for a good company. They showed very good customer service.
They finally came, swapped out the old heater, and even straightened and cleaned up after themselves. The communication, the service performed and their reasonable rates make this a great company to use for your plumbing needs. I definitely recommend them.
Thanks,
Rick

Jim sends an employee to come in and replace my girlfriends sump pump, guy just immediately goes in and does the job without explaining options and cost. Gives her no choice but to pay $780. Claims pump was $350 dollars (must be made of gold) but the exact same one is on Menards shelf for $130. Guy doesn't even give a receipt, Jim said he'll leave one in mail box. Week later no receipt, I call leave message no response. Call back no answer. Call from different number he answers. Ask him for receipt and he immediately becomes irritated and rude, I call him out for over charging and taking advantage of a 27 year old woman and this man completely lost it and cussed me out. Ha real professional Jim, you sir are a scum bag, some quality customer service buddy. He sounds like a drunken bafoon, pretty sure he was already hammered at 1:30pm when I spoke to him. All around pathetic human being and terrible experience. Moral of the story don't do business with Jim do yourself a favor and call someone else.

I have a boiler and Jim and Jason came to fix a leaking radiator at 10:30pm. Jim answered the phone right away and evaluated if he could fix the problem over the phone before coming out to avoid unnecessary charges. Fast service, fair price, knowledgeable, courteous, and professional! Thank you again guys!

UPDATE:

In response to Jim's comments...

Jim, you are straight up lying. I realize that you are desperate to maintain some semblance of a business, but what you are doing to your customers is really unconscionable.

If anyone has any doubts about the validity of my claims, just check out the many mysteriously ""unrecommended"" reviews on this site and elsewhere. Doesn't take much to figure out what a crook this guy is. Enough said.

Was not professional or reliable. Reviewed the job with me but never took a note or a picture.
He promised to be there with his guys the next day to get them started but then didn't show up. His guys did not do the work as as was agreed with Jim but how would they know?. Left me with a leaking pipe and a drain pipe that flowed backwards dumping waste water on the floor and generally poor workmanship. I made multiple calls to Jim and he either did not respond or would promise to come out and not show as agreed or at all - bizarre.
Ended up hiring others to finish the job - be wary.

Don't ever use Lemont Plumbing! This guy is a CROOK, a LIAR, UNRELIABLE and his guys did the work WRONG! His guys worked 2 full days at my house and told me they needed to come back in a couple of days to finish the job. Jim said he would come back and check on the guys to make sure everything was ok. He never came back. When we were negotiating the price before the work started Jim got really angry. He very sternly said, I'm doing all this work first and I'm trusting you to pay me! I said, ""Of course I'll pay you!"" Well, stupid me paid him in full even though he didn't finish the job. I was TRUSTING him to come back and finish! My husband called him FOUR times without an answer from him. On the FIFTH call Jim finally answered. My husband told him all the things that Jim's guys did WRONG and they broke our house water filter and didn't say anything to us. Jim said he couldn't be out there for 3 or 4 days which would be Monday. Well, on SATURDAY two of his guys show up unannounced. My husband took them into the basement to show them what to do. The first thing the plumber did was turn the water off without asking. I was literally in the middle of a shower! I had to get out of the shower and call downstairs to my husband to turn the water back on, which he did. My husband went upstairs to make sure the shower was working. THREE minutes later my husband goes downstairs, and the plumbers or gone! GONE! Without a word. WTF! Once again, it took several phone calls for Jim to answer his phone. Jim said the plumbers went upstairs and no one was around so they left! Once again, WTF!

He promised to come out Monday during the day. Didn't show. Promised to come out Tuesday night, didn't show. Promised to come out Wednesday morning. My husband took the day off, I cancelled my doctor's appointment. But once again, Jim didn't show.

So it's been 2 weeks and I don't have my washing machine hooked up! We are contacting our lawyer. I paid Jim to do a job and do it right. He did not. That is STEALING!!!

Funny that the only reviews that show up are the positive ones
I do not recommend Lemont Plumbing as with the other negative reviewers - I experienced the same problem with not showing up for appointments and when I needed them to come back because I was still experiencing a problem, they never did come back. I was recovering from a surgery and I needed the reparis. So a lesson learned about trusting what I thought was a professional - I washed it away as a bad experience.
