I've spoken to Lee's office technicians several times over the past few years, when looking for plumbing or HVAC services. Although I had never had service from Lee's, I appreciated that the people on the phones were helpful and willing to offer recommendations.
Today, on a Sunday, we had water leaking from the toilet during a wash cycle, and I decided to try and find service.
Knowing that most companies will charge extra for it being a Sunday, wanting to find service quickly, and seeing that Lee's is open today, I scheduled an appointment.
I was given a 3-5 appointment window, but the operator informed me that I would get a call if they could come earlier. That sounded promising for quick service.
At 4:23, I got a call from our service technician, Brad, that they would be coming in something like 25-35 minutes. That was disappointing because I had been officially waiting around since three. But, it was still within the quoted window.
The technicians arrived around 5:20/5:25, which was past the time Brad had told me, as well as the window quoted.
Upon arrival, Brad questioned me to confirm this was a whole house issue. Not being overburdened with plumbing skills (hence my need to call a plumber), I reiterated what I had explained on the phone.

Brad said that he already knew what the issue was and asked to see the drain clean out. He asked me to show where this was and explained it would be in the backyard. I asked if he was sure because I know we have a clean out in the front yard. He confirmed that I was correct on the placement of the clean out and explained, without coming in the house, and before looking at the clean out, I would need to get it snaked. He also backtracked and referenced grease as the problem, before repeating that it was a whole house issue.

Brad was also coughing during our conversation, which made me uncomfortable with COVID currently resurgent in the area.

I am relieved that the technicians did not come into my mom's house coughing (I had thought about asking if just the non-cougher could come in), but I just wasted a lot of time and money for a very quick conversation.

The technicians were congenial and Brad did offer the names of a few companies that would perform the same service for a lot less money.

As it is, I paid an extra charge for a plumber to come out on Sunday and wasted a lot of time and money with no real assessment or service rendered. I paid over $100 for the techs to come out, not look in the house, and chat for just a few minutes.

At this price, it would have been cheaper for me to have missed work on a regular day and gone with a reasonably priced company that actually evaluated the job.

So disappointed after my positive phone calls with the company, in the past. I know now that Lee's is not a company for me to do business with.

After talking with my mom, I realized that I should not have paid when no services were rendered. (I'm on the autism spectrum and my mom says I'm very trusting).

Because no services were rendered, I am asking that the money be returned to my bank account.

UPDATE: The company issued a refund and is seeking to make the situation right.

Listen to this:

- Young, unprofessional coughing technicians arrived at our home 20 minutes after the appointment window closed.

- Asked my daughter questions they ought to have known.

- Examined nothing but informed my daughter that without any assessment they knew what the problem was. ( If they knew with just a conversation- please explain to me Why we weren't given an assessment over the phone?)

- Wanted 500 dollars to snake the drain which which didn't include the extra 69 dollars we would have been charged because they came out on Sunday.

- Because we can not afford that amount we had to tell them no at which point my daughter ( who has Asperger's and was handling this) paid them the 100.00 they demanded for coming late and not providing an assessment or any other service beyond chatting for a minute or two in the front yard.

- Sobbing, my daughter came into the house and told me what had happened.

-I call the company to demand a refund before coming on here to review. The very nice operator asks for the invoice number given. Ah! But they didn't give and invoice number. Just told her they would email it to her. Is this a joke?? A scam??

Can anyone explain to me why this company feels that a short conversation with them is worth this kind of money?

I hate to say we need a refund because this doesn't feel like the kind of situation where a refund is in order as the services offered were not poor... they were nonexistent.

I feel like we have been scammed or robbed.

How can you charge someone for doing nothing ?

I get how it may work in the company's favor to go to peoples homes , ask for such an exorbitant amount that homeowners decline, and yet still have to pay because techs came to the house.
One could make a lot of money very quickly that way.

But seriously. My daughter is sobbing. Nothing is resolved. So beyond wrong.
You know. She went with these guys because she thought they were so nice and was taught yet another very hard life lesson.

Shaking my head in disgust ,

An angry mother

This company needs to return the money taken , apologize to my daughter, and possibly address these "" techs"".

Update as of Monday September 11, Although the representative that I spoke to yesterday communicated to me that this would be addressed with urgency I received a phone call from yet another representative this morning who had absolutely no idea what had happened and just wanted to send an invoice to my daughters email today. Absolutely incredible, ridiculous and unacceptable.

Answered messages quickly and showed up the next day. They did a great job fixing the leak in my toilet. Price was very high though.

Excellent service! Luis was professional and did a great job in fixing our A/C. Luis took the time to go over alternatives on which repair we should consider first. I believe the cost of this repair to be fair. I recommend Lee for its value, top quality and great communication.

My house is on well water, and has always had a problem with sand getting into the system and clogging faucets, shower heads, etc. I had Lee's install a new water heater, and during that installation, air got into the lines which dislodged all kinds of debris and clogged four of the faucets in the house to the point that no water came out at all. Lee's sent out a plumber that same evening, but he was only able to free up one shower head. The next morning a second plumber (Ruben) came out and had all faucets running perfectly in under an hour. I highly recommend Ruben and will always request him for my future plumbing needs.

Adin was the Lee's Tech who
Inspected/serviced our A/C. He was very professional, polite and spent the time to explain the complete process he was going through. He made sure he picked up the small amount of insulation that fell from the attic and wore booties each time he came into the house. Once again Lee's have set a very high bar for their competition. For me, It will be Lee's.

Stay away from these crooks. Installed at a premium price a ""high efficiency"" HVAC roof-mounted unit which turned out to be 14 SEER (the minimum efficiency you can install in CA,) which I only just found out from another contractor who was up on the roof for me. But wait, there's more. Recently came out to our house to check out an issue of an upstairs faucet not running and their proposed solution - not making this up - was a $60,000 retrofit of all the plumbing in the house. All other water fixtures inside and outside the house work fine. And this was not the high end option in a good/better/best upsell. That was their only offer. $60,000 to fix a faucet. Which turns out, thanks to a helpful neighbor, the issue is an airlock due to disuse. Fascinating that a professional plumber wouldn't recognize that, huh? I wonder what Lee's Air sales close rate is on $60,000 residential plumbing jobs in Fresno. Seriously. Is that even a business? Dishonest, price-gouging, corner-cutting people. Recommend you stay away.

We needed our air conditioner serviced for the summer. We called Lee's and they were able to fit us in right away. Luis came out and did a fantastic job. He was very professional, answered all of my questions, and went above and beyond. I was very happy with the service I received, also the coupon that was in our mailbox made the whole experience that much more enjoyable we have worked with Lee""s before and will continue to do so.

I do not recommend this company to anyone for plumbing. The representative who came out was very short with me, declined to explain when I asked questions and attempted to get me to sign a contract without allowing me to read it until I refused to sign without reading. I asked about a break down of the $726 he told me was the cost, after being in my house for only 3 minutes, and he offhandedly stated I'll get it as an email later. He still declined to answer where the breakdown for a $55 part equates to a $726 service. It felt like he took one look at a single woman and decided I needed limited Information about my plumbing issue and to just pay whatever he said. I have never been treated so badly by a company that should want business and future recommendations. The commercials are not accurate according to my experience with this visit. If I could give no stars I would.

We've been using Lee's since we replaced our AC unit a few years ago. Since then we've used them for plumbing, maintenance etc. They have always been friendly, informative, and respond quickly to calls and services. I also appreciate that they communicate via text/email to let you know who will be coming out (picture included) and when. When the visit is complete, they always make sure to ask if there any questions or any other things we need help with too. Great experience for us personally!
