From a young age, Lu learned the trade by working with his father, who had a landscaping and custom water feature business. Lu learned early about the importance of customer satisfaction for repeat business. He also learned to listen to clients and deliver a product that meets their needs. As a young adult, he worked for a water filtration company. His work involved installing custom water filtration systems in residential and commercial properties. In his early twenties, Lu started his official plumbing apprenticeship. After facing health issues in his wife's family, they moved to Georgia, and Lu launched LAV Plumbing.
