Lu grew up working alongside his father, who ran a landscaping and custom water feature company. Early on, Lu understood that customer satisfaction was key to securing repeat clients. He learned the value of listening to clients and delivering products that align with their needs. As a young adult, he worked for a water filtration company. He specialized in installing tailored water filtration systems for homes and businesses. Lu began his formal plumbing apprenticeship in his early twenties. When health issues arose in his wife's family, they relocated to Georgia, where he established LAV Plumbing.
