I live in a condo in Waikiki. I had a contractor remove my bathtub and install a walk-in shower. They failed to seal the shower drain to the main drain; thus leaks. If you are considering a walk-in shower, make sure you get a plumbing and remodeling company not just a contractor. My personal recommendation is Morgan and his team at Larue's Plumbing and remodeling. I sent an email to Larue's website explaining my problem. Morgan promptly sent me a suggestion for replacement. He came out for measurements and too them back for an estimate. He came back with a reasonable estimate and we agreed on starting the project. Morgan and his team removed the old shower, then they started the replacement with installing water lines and metal studs for the walls. They prepared the drain and built up the floor so the shower drain would flow correctly. Then the shower pan was installed and the drain sealed to the main drain. The water lines were completed for the shower head. Next they installed the walls that the cultured marble walls would be attached to. Larue's uses Naka's Marble & Solid Surface for all their showers. Naka's crew delivered and installed the cultured marble walls. The last thing done was attaching the shower head. I did not want a shower door (too hard to clean) Morgan had a shower rod and liner installed. I may have missed a couple things but each of these steps took a lot of detail to complete and the job was done in a professional and timely manner. I am very pleased width the results. I had many questions along the way and Morgan was patient and answered each in terms that I could understand. Again if you are considering a walk-in shower, make sure you get a plumbing and remodeling company, not just a contractor. I highly recommend Morgan and his team at Larue's Plumbing and Remodeling. Morgan and his crew, which includes his family, were extremely responsive to our vision and walked us through our 2 bathroom remodels. We were very happy with how he would share photographs of the products that would be used so that we could see what things would look like rather than just having to envision the final result. We also appreciated him walking us through the process prior to completion and how we were updated along the way. He at times used specialists to complete certain aspects of the job and used the best people for that.

LaRue's Plumbing and Remodeling did a great job in helping me with my bathroom work. At first, I wanted to remodel the bathroom and Morgan came down to assess to get me a free estimate. Turns out we needed a building permit (not their fault, just how it is renovating a condo), so I focused on their plumbing services vs. renovation (as I wanted to avoid this going on for months). Morgan and his co-worker did a fantastic job installing a new toilet and shower fixtures for me within a reasonable amount of time. My building was supposed to turn off the water in my unit for them, but there were issues with the building's water valve system. Morgan didn't charge me for the extra time he had to spend because of my building's mishaps and gave me a great deal for his work. Friendly and down-to-earth guy to work with who knows his trade well.

I'm truly saddened with this company. I was very excited when I initially reached out for a price estimate and received a quick response in february, but due to personal issues I couldn't follow through with the free estimate and project to have the popcorn ceiling removed from my home. Fast forward to June/July, I reached out to LaRue's and left messages and finally got ahold of Morgan. He seemed very pleasant and willing to work with me, but after that call, it was like pulling teeth from a cat to get much communication or response. I had to continuously call and message to get set with the free estimate, and after he came to inspect my townhome, he requested about 4 days to get me the quote, which I never received. I left another message about 2 weeks after the visit to inquire and never received a response. I feel bad, but I received the impression that my project wasn't worth the work because I only wanted to get the top floor's work done, and was hoping for around $4K for a low square footage. Regardless, a quote or reply would have made a world of a difference. now I have to look around for another company, since I still need the work done. I'm sure he does amazing work, but in my opinion, if a business can't respond to inquiries and people that are willing to hire them for work, it's not worth the time.

This review is not about the actual work, because we never got that far, but about the communication before any job was going to happen. I called Morgan in June to get a quote for a tub to walk-in shower conversion. I read in the reviews that they specialize in this, and the photos I saw online impressed me. Morgan asked me to send him some photos and details, such as measurements, address, email, etc. I sent him the information via text message a few minutes later. He then replied with a link to a brochure from which I could pick the tiles that were to be used. After the last text where I selected the floor tile, I suddenly heard nothing anymore. I figured, well, maybe tomorrow, as we were getting outside his normal business hours at that time. Tomorrow came, but nothing. The next day, I sent him a message to ask if he was able to make a quote, but received no answer. Another day later, I tried calling him, but no answer. About an hour later, I received a text message, saying that he needed more time to get the quote. I said that was ok, but it was the last I heard from him. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed when I did not hear from him anymore. Not only because I was really hoping for them to do my bathroom (after all, Morgan appears to be doing a great job, if you can get him to work for you), but also because I was strapped for time with family coming in later this year (though, at that time, I still had several months). It made me feel the customer's time was not important. A quote shouldn't have to take days if this is something you do often, even a spitball amount would have been good to give me an idea if we could make this work. It was definitely not for a lack of budget on my end. If you do not want to work with a customer (and that goes for any contractor out there, really), for whatever reason, let the customer know (and that goes for any contractor out there, really). It is basic customer service. After all, you never know who the customer knows and how they will mention your name whenever their friends or family need any service. It would've been ok to let me know the job was too small or that you were too busy. When you deal with someone yourself, you want them to answer, too. And I'm not even asking for Anyway, I eventually did find another contractor, who not only did a tub-to-shower conversion but also replaced the vanities. The bathroom is entirely new again. Sadly, not thanks to La Rue Plumbing. :(

I had LaRue's Plumbing and Remodeling convert the tub-shower in my apartment to a walk-in shower. They did a great job. It looks terrific, and everything works well. I was especially impressed with the quality of the tiles used. The workers were all pleasant and easy to deal with and cleaned up well after themselves every day of the project. Morgan, the lead on the project, was easy to talk to and clearly answered all the questions I had. I felt that the price was reasonable. All-in-all, excellent service.

We truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of these talented, licensed contractors who go the extra mile to respond to client requests and to uphold high standards of plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. We also enjoyed meeting ""Po"" the darling service dog who kept watch over the quality work that occurred every time they were in our home. The renovation of my 2 showers was recently completed. Morgan and Ritchi did an outstanding job. Morgan was very easy to work with. He communicated well, was on time, followed the condo house rules, and finished the project within the stated timeline. . Most importantly, Morgan is very trustworthy and honest. I was not able to take time off from work, so I left him my apartment keys. At the end of each day, Morgan called me with a full update and provided pictures. He called me during the day if he had any questions. He also left his work area clean and tidy. Nothing in my home was touched or went missing. I would definitely call Morgan again for future projects and highly recommend calling LaRue's Plumbing.
