BEWARE!

TOTAL RIP OFF!

DON'T EVEN...

These guys not only overcharged me for trying to fix my leaking bathtub but they also overcharged my building which paid for them through HOA. Such scam artists! Ugh. Not even funny.

They came and fumbled around for HOURS acting as if my leak was so serious when in fact it turns out it was very simple. But then how could they possibly justify charging me over $2200??? They just made a mess. I know this now that I have professional plumbers helping me. The new guys took a look at it and practically laughed. They felt sorry for me when I told them how much I paid Larry Labrie Plumbing.

Furthermore, when I asked the Larry Labrie plumbers to take off their grimy boots so they wouldn't dirty my white fluffy area carpet they did so only to reveal stinky gross socks. I was horrified. It looked like these plumbers put down a beer and got off their couches just to come and put on their little plumbing sales act with me. Not professional at all.

I don't know how these guys are still in business.

I was debating whether or not to rate his company. After the debate I decide that I should say something so others know what they are getting.

Overpriced, hidden charges. Staff are good, however his prices are outrageous. One word GREED.

I have dealt with Larry and the business for many years, and am always satisfied with their professional work, their prompt response, and the general friendliness of the company, from Larry to the plumbers who come to the house. They are a good bet on the West side of LA, and I've been through a number...

A one-star review is kind of like a car accident. You know it sucks for everyone involved, but you can't help to try to look at it to figure out what happened. That is the very reason that I am giving a 1-star review, to draw your attention so you can be a more savvy consumer.

I once went to get my tires changed in college and while I was paying for the service, the cashier made it a point to tell me about the $3 tire disposal fee. I thought it inconsequential, and expressed my opinion as such, but the cashier stated: ""I must tell everyone, as most people complain that they were not informed of the (albeit small) unadvertised fee"". What does this have to do with plumbing? Read on, dear reader:

I called LaBrie Plumbing to check out a potential leak under an apartment building, and was told that they could do so within a day or so. When they called me back with their findings, they also offhandedly mentioned a $110 charge for the inspection that was not mentioned at all when the appointment was scheduled. I wouldn't ordinarily be upset about a fee, but when I later called to at least express my displeasure about the situation I was met with the response: ""there are costs of doing business, and we have to charge"" (understandable), but when I mentioned that the charge was never mentioned, I was told: (curtly) ""No one ever asks, so we don't feel the need to tell anyone this"". Apparently the ""no one ever asking"" quote is indication that other people have been duped into this very situation and complained to no avail, and this company sees it as an opportunity to make a quick buck (I probably wouldn't have scheduled the appointment knowing the fee). Seeing that arguing was not even going to get me an apology, I said: ""I'll be sure to ask in the future"" and hung up.

A better response on their part would have been: ""look I'm sorry about not mentioning this to you to begin with, and I'd like to continue to do business with you, so in the future when you call me, I'll be sure to be up front with you about costs"".

If a tire company can make it a point to highlight a $3 charge and preempt an argument, why can't a plumbing company make it a point to mention a $110 charge??

Oh yea, and I forgot to mention that he called me to complain that I didn't give him the right billing address, because the bill was returned to him - even though he was just at that exact address days ago!

If you're looking for a trustworthy, reliable plumber on the westside there's no other place to go but Larry LaBrie. I've been using him for more than 10 years on properties I've rented and owned. His service guys are always considerate and smiling, happy to do a good job for you. They show up within hours. They are always able to correctly troubleshoot the problem and fix it on the spot or fairly quickly as soon as they get the parts. I've been very satisfied with every job they've done and feel they are fairly priced. They are also very respectful about working in my home(s) - keeping areas clean, being quiet so as not to wake children during naps, etc. Larry himself is very accessible too by phone. I have Larry LaBrie on speed dial should any plumbing issues arise and would highly recommend him to others. In fact, I have.

I had a problem with my shower and Larry La Brie sent over a guy who forgot to shut off the water before opening the valve. Water everywhere, water damage to my walls and no apology or acceptance of responsibility. These guys are the pits. STAY AWAY!

The plumber was called to investigate sump pumps that had shut off after an alarm went off. He was able to remedy the problem after minimal exploration by merely reseting the electrical connections at the switch and turning off the circuit breakers. All of this took under an hour. However, the bill was itemized as 2 HOURS and the charge was $315. This was after the plumber had spent 40 minutes and stated that the charge would be around $150. When I questioned management after receiving the bill, the plumber confabulated and insisted he had spent two hours on the job. Obviously, although LaBrie found the problem, they were not honest about the time expended.
