Fantastic service. All the staff I have encountered have been professional and friendly. I have used them to service and repair my geothermal system. I have been happy with the result every time.

Very poor. Called at 7:30 for repair on air unit. Receptionist said they would call back this morning. Lanz called at 9:00 and said they would be there this afternoon between 12 and 5. Purposely stayed at home...and they did not show at 12,1,2,3 or 5. I called again at 5 pm, and was told to ""..be patient, the tech will be there, we work evenings too."". Gave up at 9 pm. They never called or emailed me at all. Bad enough not to show up when promised, but not even a call. I expected them to call me the next morning, but no call. Called another competitor and they came within 2 hours and fixed.

Called Lanz for an estimate on a new boiler. They came to the house and did all the necessary checking for an estimate. They left and I never heard from them again -- in spite of calling twice to see if an estimate would be coming. I guess it was Mike who never followed through. My business went elsewhere.

I had Lanz out to my house to look over a DIY project gone awry. They were prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me a reasonable quote. They even put on booties to protect the carpet even though the ground was dry and I told them it wasn't necessary. I'm looking forward to using them soon.

had Lanz to the house to deal w/ a non functioning petcock in garage. They arrived on time and told us the cost would be $415. I assumed this was a major job, but they were done in exactly one hour.
I called to question and complain and was told this was a ""scheduled"" fee, but they said the schedule was a mistake and they would ONLY charge me $270 for the one hour effort.
Nice guys, but out to screw you.
BE WARNED.....
I would never recommend them to my worst enemy.

Lanz came out to the house to install a brand new sump pump we bought for our condo. Firstly, the office staff was incredibly friendly. The two young women I worked with (first to schedule the appointment, then to fix the accounting) were professional, sympathetic (we had a time-issue) and congenial.

The office staff helped me schedule a very quick appointment (within one week, I believe, of my first call). My immediate complaint, however, was that the staff could give me no indication as to what the service call would cost. They could only tell me what an hourly rate would be, but said that the technician who came out to the house would have to give me their estimate right there while he was in front of the project-at-hand.

In truth, that worked out to be my final complaint. Despite the fact that the technician was at the house for a little more than twenty minutes installing the pump, Lanz still ended up charging me $201 (despite being quoted $75/hr). I was told one service hour would be mandatory ($75), but beyond that, it would depend upon the work and the difficulty that was necessary.

I contacted the office as soon as I heard what we were charged (unfortunately I was unable to be at the condo when the work was performed, so my in-laws took over agreeing to the quoted price). The office staff tried very hard to correct the issue and after about a week, I was issued a refund check for everything but the original one-hour quote. I appreciated them handling the situation and doing so quickly.

Despite their few hiccups, I would still give Lanz 4 of 5 stars and would recommend their service to both family and friends.

This company will rip you off in the most shameless way. To stop two simple valves from leaking? This job can be done by an inexperienced home owners in 30 min. With Lanz, you have a choice between their ""plain"" service with 90 days warranty for $368, or ""platinum"" service for more than $600. There are ""gold"" and ""silver"" in-between. Much more expensive than my doctor (without insurance) or my lawyer. When you call, you talk to a receptionist, explain your problem, she does not listen because she does not know a thing about plumbing. At this point she transfers you to another receptionist, who pretends to know something about plumbing, and you repeat your story. Then the technician comes, totally unprepared, charge you $69 for listening to you and leaves till next visit. Shop around and avoid these guys!

Sump pump failed and we ended up with 4 inches of water in the basement, causing our water heater pilot to go out.

Managed the issue with the sump outside of Lanz, but called them to take a look at the water heater when the pilot wouldn't relight.

Mike came out and took a look. After looking and trying to get it work, it seemed like the entire burner unit (not sure of proper terminology) needed to be replaced. Before committing to that $200 part (not including labor!), he replaced the thermocouple and managed to get it to light. (A much cheaper fix.) Basically, he saved us a few hundred dollars (and several days without hot water). At the end of it, he was there for about an hour and a half and it came to $120 or so. (FYI, they should have a $10 off coupon on their website.)

Would call them again, but am hoping not to have to!

These guys do a great job. I had Jeff out to give me a quote on a number of tasks that need to be taken care of as part of a massive basement renovation, and he handled the quoting quickly and professionally. He had a crew out to take care of the work quickly, and Mike, Wes, and co did a fine job.

And FWIW, they came highly recommended from another professional I know who used to work in HVAC but now works in home inspections.

In the first winter in my recently new house, my gas furnace would not kick in the first time. It would take several times for it to start. I called Lanz to come out and fix it. They came out and said it was the starter. They charged me for the part plus labor. Lanz said my furnace should now work. Well, it still was not working. It would take several times for it to start. I called Lanz again to tell them it was not working properly. I was told on the phone that I would not be charged for labor. The same repair person as last time came out and told me that something else was the problem and he was going to order the part. I once again wrote the check for the part. After I received the receipt, I notice I was charged for labor too. After the part came in, the same repair person came back and put the part in. Guess what. It was still not working. I called Lanz again to tell them it was still not working. The person on the phone was sympathetic and said they would send a different repair person out. By then I was to fed up and told her to forget it. I called a smaller heating and cooling company and they fixed it immediately. It turns out the gas pressure was not set right. Apparently, gas furnaces need to be properly set or it will take several times for it to kick in. A good repair person should have been able to easily diagnose the problem. Overall, I wasted several hundred dollars. If you feel like getting ripped off, Lanz is the place to call. If you want a heating and cooling company who knows what they are doing then do not call Lanz.
