In 2002, Troy Lanz launched Lanz Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Inc. after acquiring over 16 years of expertise in the HVAC sector. Throughout those early years, we catered to Champaign-Urbana and adjacent areas with home heating and cooling services. We expanded, and shortly thereafter, we introduced our plumbing division, industrial HVAC services, refrigeration, and in recent times, underground solutions.
Today, Lanz Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Inc. is a premier plumbing, heating, and AC contractor, with a team of over 115 professionals and a fleet of 90 service trucks, experiencing consistent growth each year. While our rapid growth, we proudly uphold our mission statement.

We aim for effectiveness, comfort, and peace of mind for our customers, which is why we design it right, install it right, and maintain it right. We put in the effort to complete each job correctly the first time because this is how we ensure our customers' needs.
Following 16 years of expertise in the HVAC field, Troy Lanz started his own company in 2002 and commenced servicing Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding area with domestic heating and cooling. We introduced, and shortly thereafter, we added a plumbing department, duct cleaning service, commercial HVAC, and refrigeration.

Lanz Heating & Cooling, Inc. contributes time and provides materials and thousands of dollars each year to many charitable organizations, such as St. Jude Dream Homes in 2006 & 2008, Habitat for Humanity, Oakville, Iowa Flood Relief, local churches, Shop with a Cop, and families requiring assistance.

Scott H.I contacted Lanz about replacing my furnace and AC. A nice young man, Curt, came out and did a good job of evaluating my current system and sizing the house. He spent time telling me about the features of the various models of furnaces and air conditioners and was very informative. He had run out of business cards and said he would get me a bid in a few days but if I hadn't heard from him by the end of the week to give him a call. I never heard anything from him. No bid, no follow-up, nothing. Lanz had screwed up my name with another customer so I suspect the other customer got my bid but who knows. I had no intention of calling to remind him to give me a bid and I didn't have his card anyway. I figured if they couldn't get my name right and couldn't deliver a bid it was best to steer clear of them and I went with another company.
Ryan K.Quoted us one price, then started the job and racked it up another $100, all together charging us $358 for a tiny leak in sime pex tubing that they were supposed to have fixed the last time they were out. Leak sprung yet again in the exact same place. Had to take a day off of work to fix what the were supposed to have. They cut a hole in our floor and tore out the insulation all the way down to the dirt and left it that way. All kinds of water damage now and they're still trying to demand money from us even after we called and asked them to come fix what they didn't do and are still charging us for. Told them the job was nowhere near done correctly and they refused to come fix it until we gave them more money. After initial ""job"" was done, we asked about the military discount to which they replied, ""that's already included"". Which was kind of impossible seeing how they had no clue i was a veteran until we brought it up. Horrible bad experience.
Andy S.I've used Halfar Plumbing for years. Recently Lanz bought Halfar so when my kitchen faucet was showing low water pressure, I gave them a call and described the issue with their answering service. Within 10 minutes, on a sunday, I got a call back from a person from Lanz plumbing. He said this sounded like a clog in the aerator on the faucet and recommended unscrewing the head and looking for debris. While on the phone, I cleaned it and solved the problem. No charge. He offered to come check it out if we wanted, or recommended that we could go purchase a replacement faucet head for ~$15. In our case, just a clean of the screen in the faucet head was all it took. Great service, helpful, and fast. I'll be calling them next time I have an issue, and am glad to see the service we received for years with Halfar is continuing under the new ownership from Lanz.
The Lanz techs are amazing! Dale was out to our house in Savoy literally within 15 minutes of the call we made to the Lanz office for our plumbing issue. As he did his work, he also explained to me what he was doing, showed me exactly what he was talking about, and provided me tips for how to cheaply do my own easy maintenance if any small issues came up in the future. It was a really positive experience, and if anything goes wrong with our plumbing in the future, Lanz will DEFINITELY be our first call!

Dan did such a great job of not only coming up with a very inexpensive solution, but also explaining everything to me! This isn't the first time my company has used Lanz because they're such nice people with great customer service and they're always quick to answer your needs.

I have used Lanz a few times for heater and AC and felt they did a good job and it was a decent value. Recently, my tenant had an issue with a leaky sink and I gave them permission to get it fixed through Lanz. I was later billed for $550 for a replaced faucet. I requested that lanz provide a detailed bill other than simply ""faucet repair"". They refused to give me a detailed invoice of price of parts and price for labor. Only thing they broke down was that the visit was $70 to just show up. I talked to 2 or 3 different people and they refused to give me the detailed invoice. To appease my concern they tried to get me to purchase an insurance plan. I know some faucets cost more than others, but the fact that they refused to give me a cost break down tells me the faucet was a cheaper one and that they charged me about $400 for labor on a job that takes about 1 hour. I'm not going to use them again for plumbing issues.

Knowledgable, honest, courteous, explained the process through every step and answered all my questions without the attitude I've experienced in the past. Lanz prices are fair and the service was fast and friendly. Lanz will be my go to for all my heating/cooling needs.
