Jeff N.Are you worried about paying way too much for an HVAC repair?
We called L&H because our furnace stopped working. It's not the first time we called L&H--we've used them before when we had issues with our furnace (our furnace is 27 years old but in excellent shape because we keep it well maintained.)
We received a call back and were told that they couldn't find parts for a furnace that old and we would need to replace the entire furnace for approximately $5500. That was for a single stage Armstrong furnace. It would be more if we wanted to put in a two-stage furnace like the one we currently have.
We called another shop for a second opinion and they came out and found some heater vents that were blocked, pushed a button to reset a circuit breaker on a blower fan (that we bought from L&H about 5 years ago!) and the problem was fixed. Total cost $80.
The second repairman recommended we replace a flame sensor because it was slightly loose, but that wasn't a critical problem. He also said parts are readily available and ordered it for us to replace later. This is one of the parts L & H said was no longer available.
We received a bill for about $200 from L & H. I called and spoke with them about what had transpired hoping they would (obviously!) waive the bill they sent us. They said they would take $50.00 off the bill and could not explain why they wanted to sell us a $5500 furnace instead of just pushing the circuit breaker button on the blower motor they sold us about 5 years ago.
Even more amazing? L&H denied trying to sell us a new furnace. I repeated back the quote they gave us along with the brand name (Armstrong) and they STILL denied ever telling us we needed a new furnace.
So, my experience with L & H was they tried to charge us $5500 while their competition charged $80 for the repair.
Obviously we don't recommend them and have taken them off our preferred vendor list.
Caveat Emptor!
Very professional and courteous! Great customer service and happy I called. Same day service! The 2 young men was professional and efficient. I would definitely recommend this local business located right on my neighborhood
Eric went above & beyond to make me a satisfied customer very highly recommended. A Brandt
This company is truly a rare breed. We recently moved to a new house that had well water. Bruce came by and hooked us up with an oxygen system that eliminated the smell and the sliminess of the water. After about 6 months the smell started creeping back, this company came out 5 times to rectify this problem. I cannot say enough about Bruce and L & H. We couldn't be happier, thank you so much! AAAA++++
Mike B.I have mixed feelings about this shop. I had received good customer service over the phone when I made an appointment for L&H to come out to clean my old AC Unit, as the woman that I spoke with was very nice. Eric, the service guy was nice, as well, but I didn't appreciate being quoted a specific price over the phone then being told by Eric that the service would be more expensive because of how dirty the unit was. He said the service fee that I was quoted was for a specific allotted time, and cleaning my unit would take longer. At least he told me this as soon as he opened the AC Unit, and not after he did the service work. I acknowledge that he did, indeed, tell me that I could just decline the service, if I didn't want to pay the (increased) service fee, but at that point I had already taken a day off of work for the appointment and didn't want to waste more time scheduling another company to come out. I just think that they should explain, over the phone, about possible/potential upcharges so that the customers aren't blindsided and put on the spot when the tech tells them about it. I admit the AC unit was old and hadn't been cleaned in years but if a customer is quoted a service price for a AC cleaning, then that is the price that should be charged. At least let me know beforehand that that quoted price may increase.
Javier T.The power to my thermostat was completely out. I chased the power surge and couldn't find the problem. Steve came in, opened up the AC unit in the basement, looked for power and no hot was coming through only to realize it was the switch; A simple little fixI thought was going to be major work. He was friendly, clean, and respectful! Steve was a very friendly person and knew exactly what he was doing. He was in and out and my AC u it and thermostat is working just fine!
Thanks L & H Services for the great customer service you provided us with Steve P.!
