We purchased our first home last month, moved in about 10 days ago. Wednesday we came home to a note from the water company warning us of a suspected leak. As first time homeowners this was scary we had no clue where to start, we couldn't ""Call the manager"" like before. I started by calling the water company for more details on their leak suspicion, I was told it was a slow leak somewhere and that I'd have to call for a leak detection. I began to search leak detection company, after calling several companies, explaining my situation I was told multiple times we will come out and find your leak for a flat rate of $295-$395. I almost gave in and was so close to scheduling with one of those companies when I came across Kurt Bohmer's page on yelp. I called in and spoke directly to Kurt, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. After other companies told me the leak detection was necessary Kurt explained that it wasn't necessary, it sounded like something as small as a leaking faucet, toilet or irrigation system. Kurt said he could send someone out that evening, I told him I'd talk to my husband and give him a call back. My husband agreed but unfortunately after a hectic day at work I called after business hours. Thankfully their answering service transferred my call to Steve who gave me a few troubleshooting tips, and told me if they don't work give me call and I will be there in the morning to check out the issue himself. My husband did the trouble shooting just as Steve indicated and we located our leak. Just as Steve suspected it was a leak in our irrigation, our puppy had chewed up a drip line. I'd recommend this company to everyone, and in the event of another plumbing issue I know who to call. The other companies were just trying to take me for my money, I appreciate Kurt and Steve's honesty!!

Steve from Kurt Bohmer Plumbing said, ""I have over 30 years of experience."" Moral of this story, does not matter how long (Steve) someone like him has been doing something.


I will never call this company again and have instructed our Secretary to never call Kurt Bohmer Plumbing for any other work we need on our properties in the future. The technician/plumber that Kurt Bohmer sent was named Steve and he was supposed to diagnose a tank less water heater that was not putting out hot water like it was before. He raised the temperature on the Thermostat and cleaned the thermocouples and said, look the water is hotter so it must be the thermocouples. I pointed out to him that he had raised the temperature on the Thermostat so his diagnoses could be wrong. This made Steve unhappy. The unit was under warranty and Steve told me to call the company and order ""these parts,"" said to tell them that he cleaned the parts (thermocouples) with a dollar bill so they would know a plumber diagnosed the unit because only plumbers know this. I objected as we were paying Kurt Bohmer plumbing to diagnose the problem and Rinnai, the company was not going to take my word for it and just send me parts for free. I had to insist that he get on the phone with the company and troubleshoot the unit correctly with one their technicians so our warranty would be honored. He was rude and annoyed, made me call them, which I did and handed him the phone. He says it's a message and handed the phone back to me. I listened to the options to chose from and it was one of two choices, either a boiler which we do not have or anything else, I pressed number 2 and was instantly connected to the technician and handed the phone to Steve. After a few minutes the technician told Steve his diagnoses was incorrect, there was nothing wrong with the unit and the Hot and Colds water were mixing together somehow and that is why we did not have hot water like we used to. We would have had to pay Kurt Bohmer plumbing to come out again to install parts that were not defective and would not have fixed the problem and we would have been exactly where we were in the beginning only we would be paying for parts we did not need and shipping, days wasted, etc . . I had to go through the house and look for the problem because he wasn't doing it. I knew it had to be a mixing valve and so I went to every unit and turned them off. I was right, it was the mixing valve on the washing machine that was allowing cold water to enter the hot water piping therefore not allowing the Hot water to reach the desired temperature.

My impression of Steve is one of arrogance. He did not like that I knew what I was talking about. He did not know that he was talking to a retired plumber. I would have troubleshot the unit with the company but I made the mistake of telling them I was a homeowner and they would not speak to me.

I need d a Plummer service. On day one, I called the main number and was told they would be at my place of residence. I was told they would be here between so much hours. They never called and I had to call to find out when they were going to here. I was told that they didn't have anyone to come out. They asked if they could rescheduled to tomorrow morning. I was told I would be the first one on the list. They never called and I waited till 11am. I had errands to run and I had to leave. Here it is at the end of the day. And no calls, no nothing. I guess they didn't need the business??
So what am I say?? DO MOT USE THIS BUSINESS AT ALL!! use another Plummer.

After the Monsoonal rains had receded, I had to have my landscape drains Hydrojetted to unclog them due to a backup and flooding of my yard. Edgar and Enrique showed up ready to attack this huge job since we have over 300 ft of drains. Both worked great as a team and very knowledgeable of my problem as they both explained their service and how they were going to clear the lines for draining the excessive water for the upcoming downpour. I highly recommend Edgar and Enrique as exceptional representatives and employees of Kurt Bohmer Plumbing. I have used them ever since owning our home for over 25 years! Keep up the great service!

EDIT 1/31: Well...after a nice phone conversation with owner Kurt Bohmer, I decided to give them a chance to make amends (see below 1/30 for my first impressions). Bohmer's crew as promised started work the next morning right at 8:00am on my backyard drains; Mr. Bohmer himself came out to assure me the job would be done correctly. They have a high pressure water jet and camera system to clean and inspect the drains. Unfortunately the bends in the underground pipe prevented the technicians from completely clearing the lines of root intrusion, so there is some improvement in drainage but not 100% clearance yet. I will have to dig up and clear out the pipe of roots at some point, weather permitting.

I admire the crew's dedication and commitment; they worked in the pouring rain and lightning to get the work done! When the weather improves and I clear the roots from the pipe bend I will call them out again to do a final cleanup and inspection of my lines. Thanks guys, you rock!

(FROM 1/30) Absolute worst customer service. Called Monday for an appointment for my backyard storm drain problem, scheduled for a Wednesday appointment ""between 8:00am and 11:00am."" 11:00am Wednesday, no plumber. Called at 11:02am, they said ""they were overbooked and wouldn't come out at all today."" Not happy. Asked to talk to a boss (a supervisor I assume) who apologized and told me a technician would be pulled from another job and would be out in an hour and would offer 10% off the job. Well, now it's 1:00pm, no status phone call, no apologies, my day is completely shot and I have no plumber. 10% off of bad customer service is no service at all! If I could give a negative star I would! Gee wiz, thanks for wasting my time, guys!

Septic Nightmare

We purchased a home last year that was on a septic tank which was new to us. Well the one thing we dreaded was if the septic ever backup into the house as we were told horror stories from our neighbors. We had planned to schedule an inspection after the first of the year, but things didn't go as planned. One afternoon while the kids were showering, we heard water running downstairs that shouldn't be. To our horror, the septic backed up and flooded the bathroom and hall. What a mess.

We called several people to come and they all found ways to express they didn't want to work.

The next day we call Kurt Bohmer's team and they told us they would take care of the problem the same day! They gave us an arrival window and this is the only ding, they came over an hour late.

Jorge and Johnny were the techs and they were GREAT! They explained everything as they went through the process and always gave us options to resolve the issues and educated us (by us I mean me) on properly taking care of the septic system to avoid these issues going forward.

We were so impressed with the level of service that we had them complete some additional plumbing work for us of things we wanted to change but haven't gotten around to.

Definitely recommend them.

We called Bohmer's Plumbing for our two most recent plumbing service calls. What a difference! Over the years we had tried other local plumbers with varying degrees of disappointment. Our calls to Bohmers were handled very promptly and professionally - turns out both calls were handled by Steve Harris who arrived when he promised, evaluated the situation quickly and accurately and made the repairs in far less time than we expected AND for less cost than we anticipated. We also received helpful suggestions on preventing future plumbing problems. Steve's integrity and cheerful nature represent Kurt Bohmer's Plumbing very well.
