Michael Z.Twice now, the knowledge of the staff has saved me a bundle by avoiding the need to call a professional plumber. I don't know if the prices are higher or lower than a box store, but I don't have to drive around all day to find a part. They had what I needed every time.
They are not nice people. They are argumentive and uncooperative. They are rude did not help with the problem. Very unprofessional and condensending. Stay away.
N And N K.Definitely agree with the other review , the 5 stars are from family and friends. Never again would I go here, if this was the last plumbing store on Earth I would live without plumbing and just let my pipes get backed-up. The grandpa at the counter is just straight rude, and should be given an award for the worst customer service. Just straight nasty and truly makes you feel like he can do without your business. How those doors are still open has got me puzzled!!!!
Frank P.I needed 3- 1-1/4"" chrome plated waste tubbings and they wanted to charge me $65! This place has most things you want, but you will pay through the noise. Ridiculous pricing.
Neighborhood W.The reviewers down below must be friends with these guys. This place is the WORST plumbing supply place in the county. Do yourself a favor and go to a real place like Ramapo Wholesalers in Haverstraw. The guys at kuhns don't even know anything about simple baseboard heat covers. After several calls, 2 visits (no parking there ever by the way..90% chance you will get a parking ticket), them seeing the baseboard cover pictures, being sent back to take measurements/take pictures of measurements, and a consistent patronizing-know-it-all attitude..they were completely wrong and misinformed! I walked in to Ramapo Wholesalers and showed some guy the same pictures and he had everything for me in literally 2 minutes!!! When I called back kuhns to let them know that they were giving me incorrect information, they hung up. Kuhns is the kind of ""ma n pa"" place that looks like it hasn't been renovated since it originally opened. Their lack of knowledge and lack of customer service experience, not to mention dismissive attitude towards a customer who is only spending a small amount of money, is unacceptable. I have been in sales my entire career and I treat all my clients equally, regardless of how much is being spent. This place will be out of business soon enough due to these types of ridiculous business practices. If I could give zero stars, I would!
Donald H.Recently purchased an item and thought it was high priced. I paid $32.00 for the same item down the road but, when I went to Kuhn the same item was $53.00 and it wasn't even in a box with connectors. A brown paper bag as if they dismantled the part to get every thing to sell separately. I would never go there again.
Nesdon B.These guys know their stuff and are incredibly well stocked. I'd been to 4 places unable to get the parts and tools to solve a problem, but they had the parts, tools and knowledge in stock! I think they are a local treasure! They have thousands of products the big boxes will never stock, and that you may someday need. All that inventory and the fact that it is almost impossible for small local businesses to compete on cost with the big guys means their prices have to be higher for them to stay alive. Price isn't everything, I will continue to gladly pay a premium to support the invaluable resource that a place like Kuhn's represents.
DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! HIGHWAY ROBBERY AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I needed a new cartridge for my Delta kitchen faucet and brought the old one to Kuhn's to see if they had it in stock. I had been there a few times before and found that they had a pretty big inventory. Sure enough, they had it and when he rung it up it was $49.99. I thought that seemed expensive but I admit I didn't know the going rate for Delta cartridges. When I got home I checked the internet and the exact same item was selling online for $19.99. Now I like to support my local businesses but that seemed too much of a premium to spend. I returned to the store within a half hour and wanted to return the cartridge which was unopened. The owner said with an attitude ""we dont take cartridges back"". I said you are charging 150% more than I can get it online. He said ""you should have went online first"". I am a small business owner and I'm trying to wrap my head around his business philosophy. He charges more than DOUBLE the market price for an item and he wants his customers to go the internet FIRST before they come into his store. I'd be out of business if I tried that! If it had been $5 more or even $10 more I would have let it go because, as I said, I try to support local businesses when I can. But 150% more than market price is just ROBBERY. He tried to tell me that I might have dropped it and damaged it but any sane person could see that it was still in its packaging unopened and not damaged. He also had a ""screw you"" attitude that I didnt care for. I understand that I am not a plumber going in there and buying big ticket items but I was a customer and if he had done the right thing he wouldnt be getting this review! I would have given ZERO stars if I could!
Robert B.My 11 year old hot water heater wouldn't light. I do not have a lot of experience with hot water heaters, but I'll try to fix anything. I took out the burner assembly thinking I'd have to replace the thermocouple, but I was that the burner assembly fell apart. I didn't bother with the local big box stores as I didn't think they'd have something that specific. Maybe I'm wrong. I went to Kuhn's as they opened at 8am and I was greeted by a knowledgable gentleman. I told him my story as he inspected it and noted that it was a really poor design from the start, then brought it into the back. He had a used burner that would work, but it wasn't an exact match. He changed the jet so that the burner would fit AND installed the thermocouple for me! This kind of service would not have come from a chain store. These guys know what they're talking about, were friendly, and went above and beyond. The place might not look like much, but it's the parts and knowledge that you're looking for, not the glitz. Should I need plumbing help in the future, that's where I'll go!
Yes, I'm a fan of Kuhn's. Been there only three times in about eight years. If I had more experience there, this could be five stars. The guys have always been willing to share what they know with me. I always felt confident getting their input regarding the projects I needed help with. Someone else might have had a rude experience, but remember, you always get what you give.
