Go to bad referral area. They separated them. There are almost 300 horrific complaints.

Horrible. Have used Kotz in the past with no problems. Both furnace and water heater. This time had to schedule 2 weeks out for a kitchen sink and told it would be between 10-4. Fine. Took time off to be home. At 1pm had to call to see if everything was still on track. Talked to Riley. Was told no notes by the tech so everything should still be a go. At 2pm was called by Teresa and told that the tech 'was having a problem' and I would have to reschedule for next week. Told her no thanks but thanks for wasting 3 weeks of my time including a whole day off for a no show.

Hold on to your pocket book. A motor was failing on my residential gas furnace. A tech from Kotz came out, the diagnostic charge was quoted at $84.00. The end charge was $154.00. Supposedly, the extra charge was due to the fact that he had to investigate the problem (I'm confused, what does diagnostic mean?). He then proceeded to quote the repair at $989.00. The tech then stated that it would probably be better to replace the furnace. Just by chance, they had a guy that could be out in 30 minutes to provide a quote. Needless to say the quote was way out of market. I know this because I work in property management and just had a commercial Carrier unit installed for $3,000.00 less than the quote from Kotz.

I called Family Heating and Cooling, the tech switched the furnace on, in less than 30 seconds he told me what was wrong with my furnace. My furnace is now running tip top, at less than half the price of the Kotz quote. No new furnace.

Thank you, Dylan and Family Heating and Cooling.

Wow! What an incredible experience. I was referred to the Kotz team by a coworker when my ELDERLY VETERAN father needed the entire house redone. I wish I could have given them an even better rating but 5 was the most amount of stars possible. They were upfront about the entire process: HONEST hardworking people. They kept him involved the entire way and even followed up a week later to ensure that everything was working properly. Costs were extremely fair and they did fantastic work. I have taken the ""cheap"" way out before and that is why I needed to have all of the work redone. Great service, fair, honest, smooth process. I cannot say enough about how incredible and caring my technician was. I could tell he treated my father like he treats his own. 10/10!

Have used Kotz for years - 2 furnaces, AC units, on demand hot water unit, routine maintenance. We have always been very satisfied up until this last encounter. Had a salesman out about 8 weeks ago to bid on a job related to a kitchen renovation (needed the venting for the range hood, a gas line for new range, new placement of the thermostat because we took out the wall it used to be on and redirection of cold air returns). The salesman indicated they could do the work, we accepted the price he bid. Service was out 2 weeks ago to review the scope of work and verify timeline for them to come in - was back a few days later due to a blown fuse in the furnace - again verified - on the books for the work to be done the following day. Date of service comes along - nobody shows/nobody calls. Husband calls to find out when they are coming out - is told ""Nope - owner says we're not doing the work"", Husband calls the office asking for the owner so he can discuss the situation - is told ""owner is out"". Repeated calls have been ignored. Now my renovation is completely on hold - my appliance delivery is on hold - because of the massive unprofessionalism here. Please don't take this review of the salesman or the serviceman - they were both very nice and helpful - this is a review of the business practice as a whole - and that comes from the top!

Very dishonest business. Came to my house and charged my AC unit with 1.5 Lbs of R410. I was charged $514. Never fixed the leak as I was asked for $369 more for the die! Two days later I called someone else who came added the die for $90. I asked how much it ccharge for refrigerant? The response was $80 per pound. I do not recommend .

I had a service tech come over to look at our air conditioning. He was a gentleman. Some animals had made a nest near one of the switches. This was fixed. The tech also recommended that the dual capacitor for the fan and compressor needed to be replaced. The cost for the capacitor was $238, I looked online and the capacitor cost was less than $35. So the markup on the capacitor was at least $200. I was told that the contactor relay needed to be replaced at a cost of $187.00. This was a $30 part online. I had the parts replaced. Including the service call the total for the bill was $459. The air conditioning works. I feel I was taken advantage of. I would not recommend this company to others.

I've had excellent service from Kotz for over 10 years. They do all my service and maintenance calls. I don't call at the last minute, but make my maintenance appointments ahead and have never had a problem getting the date I want. They replaced my furnace at my large home in Rochester Hills and if/when I need new furnace/AC at my downsize home, I'll have them do it. They've always been courteous and careful in my home and their phone staff has been pleasant and kind. They wear special shoe coverings in my home and are careful. They found a leak in our furnace the first time they were out that could have killed us. I trust this company and they've always been honest and courteous to me. I called around once to see how much another company would charge for something and they were either right in line or even cheaper.

Do not work with this company. Toilet leaking on Thursday. Appt on Monday. Plumber wanted to charge a diagnostic fee but wouldn't pull the toilet to see where it was leaking without me agreeing to the $380 to fix the seal. Plumber told me that once the toilet was lifted the seal would be ruined. Interesting that our toilet doesn't have a seal around the toilet so sounds like he is not knowledgeable about our brand. I specifically asked during the appointment call if they worked on Toto toilets. And a hour of work and seal does not add up to $380. Fortunately he left without doing the work. What a blessing in disguise !

BEWARE!
Kotz charged us over $700 for a simple blower motor replacement, they got lucky because I was out of town and called them and needed the furnace working again for my wife, had I been home I would have found many reputable HVAC companies that said they would have only charged me about $300. Kotz does that so you can get a $400 credit towards a new furnace IF you purchase one within two weeks of the service.
