Founded nearly 35 years ago in 1986, KLEBS Mechanical started at his personal residence during a time of economic slump. At the time, many construction companies were downsizing or closing their doors, yet Gary decided to launch his own company.

Gary's decision to start KLEBS during this difficult time allowed the company to grow while others struggled. His leadership and expertise turned the company grow from a one-man sheet metal shop to a well-established full-service mechanical company with a team of over 80 professionals.

Gary Klebs, born in Wisconsin, has made Alaska his home for 40+ years. He began working in the construction industry in 1981, starting in an entry-level position before advancing to a managerial position.

Gary founded KLEBS in 1986 as a one-man truck and metal fabrication business and has guided the company for over two decades into the multi-faceted company it is today.

Gary's roots in the industry run deep, and his vision continue to drive KLEBS' growth. He is one of the founders of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Alaska and has served as the ABC of Alaska's Board of Directors.

Gary envisions KLEBS' continued success as a family business, reflecting the core values of honesty, teamwork, ingenuity, and integrity that he brought into the business from its very beginning.

My encounter with this service was disappointing. Initially, I was told that the service call would cost $90. I thought that was a great price.

Then Felix, the repairman, arrived 2.5 hours late. He proceeded to clean a sensor using sandpaper. I was impressed with how quickly he resolved the issue. I assumed there would be no extra charges.

What I didn't realize was that this service would add another $139 to my bill. In the end, my total came to $229. I advise against using them unless you want a big surprise.

I wouldn't recommend Klebs Mechanical. Be wary of their service charges. You could find yourself with a much higher bill than anticipated.

For more than twenty years, I have relied on Klebs for my plumbing needs. From the very first day, they installed my boiler and have provided ongoing service. Over the years, I have handled some minor repairs myself.

Two weeks ago, my boiler failed, so I called Klebs Mechanical to get it running again. I noticed that they have altered their business approach considerably, and unfortunately, it's not an improvement.

Following the diagnosis, the repairman informed me of something I was not prepared for. To address all the issues, I was looking at a repair bill of approximately $1,800.

While reviewing the estimate, I noticed a charge of over $500 to replace a power head on a zone valve. This surprised me since I've replaced those parts myself, and they retail for just $75 at Central Plumbing.

After seeing that, I felt like I was being taken advantage of. I've handled those replacements myself for a mere $75.

When I inquired about the cost of the $1,200 part in the estimate, the technician refused to disclose it. He informed me that Klebs has a policy of not sharing the breakdown of parts and labor.

This left me stunned; how can a trustworthy company refuse to share that information? As a customer, shouldn't I have the right to know what I'm being charged for?

I contacted the office to find out how much the part I needed would cost. I thought it was fair to know the price of what I was being charged.

The representative said she would check with someone and get back to me, but they don't provide parts breakdowns. They never called me back.

The service technician was great; I had no issues with him as he was just doing his job.

I will never call Klebs Mechanical again for any service. They have shifted from being a trustworthy family-run business to a rather dubious company.

To save some cash, consider other companies; steer clear of these guys.

The only negative aspect I encountered with Klebs Mechanical was the duration required to secure an appointment. However, since my issue was not urgent, it did not pose a problem.

He fixed my minor plumbing problem and offered advice on improving the efficiency of my vents. The service was marked by professionalism, politeness, and timeliness.

Overall, my experience with Klebs Mechanical was positive despite the initial wait.

I felt very pleased with Klebs Mechanical's assistance! The team were promptly at my residence, found the issue, explained it to me and addressed it in under an hour. The technician afterward also swap out my filters for me. I will definitely work with them again in the future if the need arises!:)

I feel one should go to a large retail store like Home Depot. I was billed $25 for fuel along with $74 as a service charge to evaluate the hot water heater in my home. Best of luck purchasing a new one for a lower price at the box stores!

Klebs Mechanical met our needs with their service. They worked with us during every step and were receptive to feedback and input.

Like in all construction, hiccups happen and the team at Klebs adapted smoothly amidst the challenges with grace and left us with our dignity by communicating clearly of the latest updates.

All the people at Klebs were consistently kind and accommodating and eager to help if needed, regardless of the time of year.

I highly suggest Klebs Mechanical for your heating needs. They can do it all professionally from fixing your outdated units to a total new install.

We were truly impressed with the quality of their work and work ethic.

A happy client

I reached out Klebs Mechanical for a furnace inspection to ensure it was clean for the sale of my home. I spent $437 and waiting, I do not recommend this service to my friends or family.

The worker failed to do the repairs that were needed whatsoever. He mentioned there seemed to be a lot of accumulation due to poor maintenance. Curious... We reached out half a year ago and had a technician visit to change the igniter wire. The worker took care of cleaning it during that visit as we were billed for an hour's work and he thought we deserved value for our money.

It seems the experience may vary depending on the technician they send, but I would not suggest risking it.

I were not sure that many of the people working here know what they are doing. Four years ago, they set up our water heater. During the installation, they damaged our fence. Half a year later, they had to come back and entirely redo the job, as it was winter and we get our home to reach 50 degrees.

After that, we had them to install our hot water heater again. We always thought the water seemed extra hot because it was new. However, that was not the case. This install was 18 months ago. We asked them to come out and resolve the issue, but they informed us we were no longer covered.

We let them know the install was wrong (the thermostat never did anything), and they quoted us prices to repair it. We responded, "See you in court."

I were not really confident in the capabilities of most of the staff at Klebs Mechanical. Four years ago, they installed our hot water heater, but during the job, they messed up our property. Half a year later, they had to come back and redo the job because it was the cold season and our living room could not above 50 degrees.

After that, we requested them to set up our hot water heater again. Initially, we believed the water was very hot because it was new. However, that was not the case. This install was 18 months ago. We asked them to return and fix the issue, but they said we were out of warranty.

We informed them the setup was wrong (the temperature control was ineffective), and they provided estimates to fix it. We said, "See you in court."
