KLEBS Mechanical was founded nearly 35 years ago in 1986 by Gary Klebs in his personal residence. During a challenging economic period, many construction companies were downsizing or closing. Gary, a key employee at another mechanical company, decided to start his own business. While others struggled, he flourished, growing KLEBS from a one-man sheet metal shop to a premier full-service mechanical company with over 80 employees.

Gary Klebs, originally from Wisconsin, has called Alaska home for over four decades. He began his career in the construction industry in 1981, working his way up to General Manager. In 1986, he launched KLEBS as a one-man truck and metal fabrication business. For the past 26 years, he has led KLEBS forward, maintaining a commitment to quality and service.

Gary's deep roots in the industry include being one of the founders of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Alaska. He has also served as the past President of the Board of Directors for the ABC of Alaska, of which KLEBS is a current member. His vision for KLEBS is to continue growing as a family business that reflects the original values of candor, teamwork, ingenuity, and integrity.
