Company Overview

Kimbro Air specializes in HVAC services, plumbing, and both residential and commercial solutions for the Nashville community.

Established in 1944, the Kimbro Family has contributed to the Nashville metro area, initially with Kimbro Electric, guided by MP Kimbro.

In 1972, his son, Bobby Kimbro, launched his own venture, Kimbro Air, after gaining experience in the family business.

As Kimbro Air flourished, Bobby shared his business values with his son, Derek Kimbro.

Derek developed a deep understanding of the heating and air conditioning industry, which prompted him to start his own business, Kimbro Services, in 1996.

Following eight years of running his own company, Derek took over Kimbro Air from his father.

Kimbro Air is still expanding today in Hendersonville, Gallatin, and the Nashville area.

The company now employs 17 staff members, many of whom have been with us for over a decade.

I don't get it. If for whatever reason a business doesn't want your business, then why can't they just say so? In stead of saying that they'll call you back and then just blowing you off. Kimbro, please know that this sort of business practice is very unprofessional, disrespectful, and plain rude.

I walked into my house yesterday (July 3rd) and found the temp to be 94 degrees! I could hardly breathe. I called my regular HVAC, LEE CO, with whom I have paid monthly for 2 years for a service contract. I was told they would call me right back...after an hour, I called Kimbro. Nathan returned my call promptly. The on call technician, Nathan, had been working since 7:00am. It was now about 9pm. He arrived and was able to diagnose the problem as a faulty compressor part. Unfortunately, he did not have it on his truck but promised to obtain the part from another technician, who was out of the immediate area. He left and I just prayed he would be back. At that time he gave me the final cost, which was extremely reasonable. The service charge would only be $89.00. (This was holiday AND after hours emergency, so I was very grateful that I was not going to be gouged!) Sure enough, he met with the other tech who had driven 30 minutes from another city, got the part and completed the repair within an hour! When he knocked on my door, I thought that he had just returned but he said that the whole thing was fixed! Nathan was so polite and professional. The final total costs, (as quoted earlier) were extremely reasonable. I was so impressed, that I asked and signed up for a year's service contract, which ended up saving me even more money on the original bill. With a huge vote of confidence and gratitude, Kimbro Heating/ Air, and especially, Nathan, will always have my business. And as for LEE and CO. who has still not even called me back, your fired!
Sincerely,
Mrs. M Todd

We called Kimbro Air on Memorial Day and they were out and fixed our HVAC. The bill was very reasonable and the tech was excellent! Great job!

Chad came out to give a quote for a Daikin heat pump the other day. Pleasant guy, gave a written proposal leaving out the model # of the unit to be installed, and a few needed details. After talking to him again over the phone and verbally agreeing to the work which would be paid in cash. (That means a check in the real world.) He sent a text that read: "" My owner would like as much cash as you can when install the unit for the discount cuts down on his taxes."" I called him back to clarify what he meant. He meant cash. I actually agreed to give part of it in cash. When I hung up I realized what a stupid agreement that was.

After talking to someone who used their services in the past who Chad said they also paid part of their bill in cash. This person said that in no way did they pay cash. They called Charlie who they have delt with in the past to tell him what happened. Charlie called back today to say: ""You don't have to worry about paying cash"". I said: Really?, No kidding! He went on to say: ""We don't work that way"". That didn't do anything to build confidence in any of them. The owner also called and left a msg. I did not call him back.

I cancelled the appointment.

I know of other people have had success with them. They may be a fine company, just not for me.

I'll give them one star because they are always friendly. Unfortunately they don't know what they're doing. We started having little problems with our 26 year old unit so decided to go ahead and replace it in November 2015 before it died on us in the middle of winter. Purchased our new $9,500 split gas/electric unit (what we had) in November and it took until mid-February 2016 before it ran correctly. Lost count of the number of service calls and time off work I had to take to deal with this. Installed in one day as promised....the outside unit was wired wrong, no one appears to know how to program the thermostat, set the natural gas to fossil fuel, the emergency gas heat set to come on when the outside temperature reached 55 degrees, and so on and so on. The furnace was ""to big"" for the house so they replaced the new furnace in February with a new smaller furnace but claimed no refund because the small unit was ""programmable"" which the larger unit wasn't, not sure about that but at that point who cares I just wanted it to work. Oh forgot, when we turned the air on we discovered the drain had not been connected so the pan would fill with water then shut the unit off. That was our last service call. It is now August and I still have not been able to get my warranty paperwork. The real kicker is we replaced this 26 year old unit with a new state of the art Daikin, 16 seer, two speed blower, unit and my electric bill is higher than it has ever been. Researched on the CEMC website looking at my past usage and it is running higher while the average outside temperatures have remained the same. If you have an old unit keep it running, these new energy efficient units are anything but efficient we still have to run a window unit in the back bedroom to keep it cool.

Wow talk about gouging! Had a motor and squirrel cage installed under warranty. They charged $476 for 40 minutes of work! Yes this equates to well over $700 an hour! After calling in disgust he said they loosened the screws when they did the check, and had to pick up the part so there was more to it than $700 an hour labor charge.

They also charged a call charge to come check the problem, he did twice the work then for $89.50 than he did for the $476 work. He finally offered me one year of maintenance to compensate for drastic overcharge, problem is they were supposed to call two weeks ago and never did.

They also never gave me a receipt and would not give me an hourly rate, do not learn the hard expensive way I did and check around, after the fact I found out it should have cost a max of $200.
