Recommended Customer Reviews

Everyone has already covered the ""premium"" pricing issue so I won't go into detail but, yes, they are very, very spendy!!
My boyfriend made an appointment to have someone come fix the kitchen sink faucet, which had lost water pressure. We were told someone would be here between 2:00 and 4:00 on Monday. Waited around until 4 - nobody arrived. We called Shaw and were told there was a delay and it would be about two more hours until the service person could be at the house. I would have appreciated it if the company would have called US to let us know, as opposed to us waiting around and needing to reach out to them. We ended up agreeing to reschedule for the following morning.
The serviceperson was very nice and professional and got the work done in the time frame that he estimated. Although I was pleased with the serviceperson, I have to say it is unlikely I will use Shaw again - after reading the reviews (which I only did AFTER my boyfriend booked this company), I think the owner, Mr. Shaw, seems super rude in his responses to customers' legitimate concerns. This isn't the type of person who I want to give my business to. It also concerns me that he provides such detailed information on other customers and the service they had on their homes. I understand giving his side of the story but many of his responses appear unprofessional.

You know what? It is ""premium"" pricing, BUT..
Kevin Shaw's plumber came out within an hour of my phone call.
Kevin Shaw's plumber was able to fix the problem right then and there.
Their admin is very streamlined and organized. They took all of my contact information, and they did what any self-respecting business would do, which is charge for on-site consultation, because the time and money that it takes to drive around L.A. is no joke.
I wish there was some way to streamline the cost side, but, hey, it's L.A. As a sole proprietor myself, I fully understand how much it costs to keep a business going, and what it takes to provide people a life above poverty.
Whereas the other guys..
I called three other plumbers who gave me the dance around, and a week passed and my plumbing problem was still not fixed. These were people that I had used in the past, who had stellar Yelp reviews, but they let me sit a whole week with a stopped up kitchen sink. One call to Kevin Shaw and it was fixed within a few hours of the call. So, thanks for being my knight in shining armor.

Jose showed up at my house within 30 minutes of calling and reporting the problem with my drain. The price was more than what was quoted over the phone, but I considered it fair for the quality of service. Jose gave me several options that could potentially fix the problem, along with the price for the service. Once I made that decision, Jose did the work quickly and efficiently and the problem was solved. Thank Terri for referring me through Whittier Chamber of Commerce.

I have used Kevin Shaw for years. They have always been up front and honest about what work needs to be done and about what does not need to be done. Could I find a cheaper plumber? I am sure I could but would I trust them? Probably not. You get what pay for. Jeff has always done the work on my house and he is simply a great guy. I have serious doubts about the validity of the negative comments attributed to him in other reviews.

Jose came out to Bellflower and overall, I was really happy with the service. He was straight forward and did not up sell me on things I didn't need. He was able to pull the roots out of my sewer line inside the house and it was MASSIVE! I think the pricing was a little high for the job, but he was honest and got the job done. He came within the hour when I got the email that he was coming. Thank you Kevin Shaw Plumbing.

Kevin Shaw Plumbing has just become THE plumber fro my home. I was recommended to his company by a contractor who had installed a tankless water heater in my house and we had done two quick repairs to it when it got fussy. Which they do. My contractor said I should get Kevin to do a maintenance on it so I had a connection with him. Well he sent one of his best guys (Jeff) and an assistant-- but that night there was no hot water! I called in a bit of a panic. The next morning I got this at 7AM:
Jeffrey is on his way.

Well. Jeff is a man that I aspire to be like. He hadn't slept all night because the job wasn't done (turns out it was a minor key left unturned that his assistant in training didn't know to readjust) so the hot water ran out and the fussy machine refused to turn on. He walked me through and we talked and the quality of his care was unparalleled. I called Kevin to thank him and asked if Jeff could do all our plumbing from now on.
The bio says a lot. But Jeff was better than his bio. I'm now a Kevin Shaw Plumbing house.

Verry Dissappointed. We called this company to fix a major plumbing issue. They came out and only fixed part of the problem. When we asked them if their work was warrantied and could they come and double check it. They said yes. They charged me to come out and look at their own work. Then they quoted me to fix the same pipe we asked them to originally fix. When we asked them why they didn't fix the whole pipe to begin with the reply was that we didn't tell them to. They were the experts, we called them out to repair the problem, the whole problem. The service guy said If we thought they were just going to keep coming out here and not charge us we better think again. Very Rude and un-professional. We are a business with a budget, we have to get more than one quote and chose the best one for our needs. It just so happens that theirs are always higher. I received a call from the office manager and she was a little rude in the beginning over the phone but she did apologize for the comment her service man made and she did explain their business practice. We will no longer use their service, they were rude, unprofessional and overpriced.

Charged us $3600 to install a 40 gallon water heater. It wasn't an emergency. I got taken. I should know better next time. Read other reviews.

I called Drain Master Plumbing and they sent this guy to me. I asked to have my kitchen drain snaked and they quoted me $99. This guy shows up and jacks it up to $250+. I decided to cancel and eat his trip fee. Glad I did because I sound another honest plumber at Any Drain Plumbing who did a great job for about as much is this guy's trip fee. Beware - shop around.

Today a Kevin Shaw technician (Jeffrey) came to my house for a ""free estimate"". He wanted $475 to change a thermocouple on a water heater which a Lowe's recommended company wanted $169. It is a job which will probably take 20 minutes at best. When I asked him why it cost so much, he said that was what his computer said. I asked him to leave. He would not leave my garage unless I pay him $41 for his trip. I told him I was told me the estimate was free when I called to make an appointment. I asked him to call his company I talked to the owner Kevin, who told me they don't give free estimate. He still would not leave unless I pay him the money. I called 911. He left when he heard me talking to the police. The same thing happened to my wife when she was single. She was so intimated my this big guy and she paid him for the trip. These bullies prey on innocent consumers who are not strong enough to stand up to them. They are making a good living by either charging 3-4 times the going rate or $41 for just making the trip if you refuse their service. If you do business with Kevin Shaw Plumbing you are inviting these bullies to rob you one way or another. Beware of these people out there.
