This guy's rates amount to theft!! He charged the equivalent of $2400 per hour! He snaked one toilet! Took him fifteen minutes!! My wife was there for the service call and now does not feel safe with this guy knowing she is home alone! Please do not ever use this guy.

If you want to be screwed, this is your choice. One hour, $400, no receipt and the toilet leaks more than when Mike Kenfeld arrived. My check was taken to the bank for cash immediately so couldn't stop payment.

Wow! I've never had anyone in Steamboat Springs in 20 years blatantly overcharge me as Mike Kenfield. Buyer beware - don't use this plumber. In my he case overcharged me 3.5x the going rate! He also demanded payment on the spot and would not leave until he was paid.

Mike Kenfield should not be in business. From what i understand , he isn't a licensed plumbler. Yet he says he's been in business for over 30 years. And charging double on services, when comparing his prices to other prominent plumbers in town.
I demanded an invoice on charges for service rendered and would say ""that's what I charge""
Stupid me, should have checked up on him and this website before calling him .

Double billing: We had agreed on a fixed price of $1,700 to replace a water heater. We agreed that this would include removing and replacing the toilet, and removing the old water heater through the bathroom door. This required the removal and replacement of the door. Plumber said his hourly rate was $120, and that the job took 4 hours to complete. Plumber purchased new water heater at Ace Hardware, where the retail price was $400. After completion, plumber said that the price for the job had increased, and that he was charging me an additional $200. to remove and replace the toilet, and $150. more for the door, for an increase of $350. in the price (total now $2,050). Plumber left my home without writing me a receipt. When I called him to get my receipt he said the two cancelled checks were my receipt - even after I explained that I needed it for tax purposes. After several phone/text messages, plumber said it would cost a trip fee ($225) if he were to bring the receipt to me. The non-itemized receipt he finally gave me was not even signed - it is not a valid receipt. He owes me $350. for work we had already agreed he would do, and work I had already paid for - double billing is illegal.

PLEASE DO NOT USE MIKE KENFIELD! Mike should be in the Steamboat phone book under SHYSTER. He charged $1,200 to install a new water heater that we already had purchased. He said the price was so high because he had to move the gas line which ran right in front of the existing water heater when all he did was disconnect it and put it right back in the same place. He wanted to bill us for a $90 trip charge and a one-hour minimum of $135 when we balked at his price. Mike refused to give us a price to connect our water storage tanks saying it would be too expensive and with him it would have been! He was a very cocky and arrogant - overall not a person I would ever do business with again. Save yourself the trouble and find a different plumber.
