What started out as a positive experience ended in a disaster. Mike replaced our AC unit but a few days later one of our bedrooms flooded out with an inch of water (the unit was in the closet). After spending thousands of dollars cleaning up the mess I tried to have a reasonable conversation with Mike to explain my frustration but his message to me was more or less ""not my problem"". I've also been following up with him for weeks trying to get a final invoice but he's been unresponsive. After doing some research its clear that my experience is not unique and I should have done a better job selecting a contractor. Steer clear of this guy before its too late.

Mike answered my call at around 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday when my furnace broke. He came over the same day, figured out the problem, and got to work on helping us install a new furnace. He clearly takes pride in his work and enjoyed explaining to me, in significant detail, how all of the parts of the furnace operate. His enthusiasm for the job was very clear. Mike did not try to sell me on the most expensive product. He gave me practical advice on what to buy. He stayed at our house into the night to get the job done and he gave me what I feel is a reasonable price.

Do not use Kellz.
My 6 year old AC broke this summer and so I chose Kellz to fix it. The owner(?), Mike came round promptly and diagnosed the problem as a faulty compressor. ""You may as well fit a whole new unit.."" he said, ""..let me send you some quotes."" I paid $125 for the consultation and told him I'd think about it. The quote came back at over $2000!
A contractor friend of mine got his HVAC guy to come over. Surprise, surprise, there was nothing wrong with the compressor and that the problem was obviously a small oil leak (hence the charge was a little low). $100 later and some new refrigerant and the problem was fixed.
Unfortunately Kellz is a crook

I had an appointment scheduled for between 12 and 1 pm on the day after a big snowstorm. My heater was broken, leaving my apartment a balmy 51 degrees. Mike called me at 1 pm to tell me he was running about an hour behind schedule, which I said was fine. At 3:30 he had not arrived so I called and left a message inquiring about his whereabouts. No response. I looked on the website and Twitter for an ""up-to-the-minute status check"" as the voicemail suggested. It had not been updated since January 21st. At 5 pm I called again... stone cold silence (pun very much intended). Then I sent an ""instant email"" which, you guessed it, was never addressed. A text message also was ignored. I called two more times though I knew I'd never see this guy. Ultimately, I had to call for emergency service. There are far more reliable businesses in Boston--DO NOT go with this one!

2 weeks ago the furnace in my house suddenly stopped and I was screwed. This was the furnace to one of my tenants apartments. This could not have come at a worse time considering it has been record low temperatures in the Boston area lately. I Googled emergency plumbers and Mike from Kellz Heating popped up. I called Mike and told him the situation and he was there within 3 hours. Keep in mind this was on a Saturday. Mike told me that my furnace was a ""dinosaur"" lol, over 30yrs old, which is pretty amazing that a furnace lasted that long. He showed me multiple areas where the furnace was bleeding gas making the flame burn in areas where it shouldn't. My gas valve would also need replacement. He even took pictures of the inside to show me exactly the parts of the furnace that were no longer working.
Mike told me trying to get this thing working by replacing the parts would cost me close to the same price to replace it. He spent close to 40 minutes explaining to me how furnaces work, showing me pictures of my old furnace, explained to me what kind of new furnace I was getting and overall explaining the process of installation. He also broke down the cost of the new furnace and exactly what he was charging me for labor. One thing I hate is when you call a person to your home for a repair or something related and they quote you a lump sum price without explain what the price includes. Just to do my due diligence I had another guy come out to assess the problem. This guy spent 10 minutes looking at the old furnace, told me its not worth fixing, and said he could replace it for $800 more than what Mike quoted me. I asked him to provide me with more information as to why it's not working and what his price included. He gave me a short answer about the furnace being old and to dangerous to fix. He said his price included a new ""efficient"" furnace and cost to install it. When I ask him exactly what the unit cost and what his labor charge was, he said that he would have to go price out the furnace I wanted. This sounded completely ridiculously to me seeing as though he just quoted me a price for a furnace and installation and now he's telling me he needs to find out how much the furnace cost. Needless to say I went with Mike.
I agreed on replacing the furnace and Mike told me that he could have everything installed on Monday and the heat working. Come Monday the furnace was installed and the heat was back on! This was one of my most positive experiences with a home service guy. Normally these guys whether contractors, electricians, plumbers, roofers, etc make you great promises and fall short of delivery. I have had my fair share of experience with all of them and anyone that owns property knows that when you find a straight up guy that does what he says, you better keep their contact information.

This company was very unprofessional I asked him to replace a toilet. First he said he went to the wrong address and replaced a toilet there?? I only found this out when I followed up with tenant after I paid Kellz Heating. They went back to house to do the repair and was upset that the job was more than he was equipped to do. He placed a smaller toilet in the unit leaving a 8""x2"" gaping hole in the floor and did not dispose of the old toilet, instead he left it on the sidewalk for me to get a fine from the city of Boston. Again not telling me. He then charged me an extra $225 for the ""extra"" work he had to do due to older plumbing. When I asked he to remove the toilet, he flat out told me NO. Customer service and reliability rating would surely be under 1 star as I now need to get another workman in the unit to redo what he just did. I would never recommend this company!
